To celebrate this day, the DragonVale Commumity Forum has a brand new game — WHITBEE’S SCAVENGER HUNT!
Find the most candy, and the top 5 players will forever be immortalised in the Scavenger Hunt Winner’s Circle above.
START AND END DATES
Starts: October 31st at the daily reset of DragonVale
Ends: November 3rd at 8.00 PM (MDT) / 3.00 AM (CET), or 12 hours after DV’s reset.
HOW TO PLAY
Trick-or-treat treats will be randomly dispersed all over the Forum. Each day there will be a new type of candy to collect. Just read the Forum as usual, or click around and scroll away to find all the goodies.
On your mini profile, there is a jack-o-lantern treat basket to store all the delicious candy you found. It will keep track of how much you’ve gathered and display which type of candy is hidden for the day. If you click on it, a message will show confirming your candy total (MinyaZ, you have some collecting to do! 🎃)
When you click or tap on a piece of candy, it will be added to your total and this animated pop-up will show.
PRIZE DETECTOR
After you find 5 pieces of candy, you will unlock the prize Detector. Since the Forum has thousands of pages, and many are very long, it would be extremely tiresome to scroll through page after page looking for candy with little to no reward. The Detector will be immensely beneficial to help you find even more candy.
In the lower right-hand corner of your screen, there is a toolbar. If it’s hidden, click on the small arrow to expand it (on a tablet or phone, you may need to tap several times before your device responds). When you’ve unlocked the Detector, an animated candy corn icon will appear on this toolbar.
The Detector has two images: activated and deactivated. The activated image is a candy corn with a purple background. If the Detector is activated, that means there is a piece of candy on the page. The deactivated image is a candy corn with a dark grey-blue background. If the Detector is deactivated, that means there’s no candy.
To keep you on your toes and your eyes peeled, the Detector difference is subtle. So if you’re using a device with a small screen, or you’re not sure if the Detector has changed, click / tap on the Detector icon in the toolbar, and the Detector image will show.

The Detector will save you from spending your days scrolling through lengthy pages. There’s no time for that — it’s already Hallowe’en!
HOW MUCH CANDY CAN YOU HAVE BEFORE GETTING A STOMACH ACHE
There will be a random number, between 1-15 pieces of candy, for you to collect with each visit to the Forum. So if the Detector hasn’t alerted you in a while, your candy basket may be full and you’ll need to revisit.
Whenever you open a page, there may or may not be a piece of candy. You can find candy on the Home page, open a thread, then return to the Home page, and candy may be there again. There’s only one piece of candy on a page, so no need to keep looking; the Detector will turn off. Almost any page can have candy, including a reply on a thread or message.
Lurkers and members not logged in will still see candy on the Forum. If they click on it, they’ll receive a message encouraged them to join the hunt.
LEADERBOARD
On the navigation tree, there is a new button called Scavenger Hunt. Click it and you’ll be taken to the Scavenger Hunt Leaderboard.
If there’s a discrepancy between the candy count on your mini profile and the leaderboard, clicking on another piece of candy should resolve the issue. The count on your mini profile will always be correct. To prevent your mini profile and the leaderboard from becoming out of sync, please follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT
To ensure your candy count is not disrupted,
1. Do not use the back button after you find a piece of candy or open the leaderboard. Try to use the Forum’s buttons and links. (It’s fine to use the back button to read and navigate the Forum, just refrain when you’re doing scavenger activities.)
2. Do not open another tab when there's a collectible item on the first tab, unless you’ve already collected the item.
3. Do not let candy sit on the screen (it’s gonna get stale!). Collect it as soon as you spot it, or ignore it, but don’t scroll back to collect it later.
Any of the above or similar actions results on stale data and can corrupt your candy count.

Please use this thread to make any posts about the Scavenger Hunt. Let us know how you’re doing, if you’re experiencing any problems, and to provide any suggestions. Keep us updated on your candy stash!
As always, you must be viewing the Forum in its desktop version to participate in the hunt and you need to be a member (the leaderboard can’t keep track of your candy as a guest). Membership is free, only requires an email, and takes mere seconds — so jump into the hunt with us, we’d love to have you onboard.
If you don’t want to play, you can ignore the tempting candy. However, if that proves to be difficult or if the treats are distracting and you’d prefer to not see any scavenger content, please message me.
Fair warning, there may be bugs. I’ll try to ensure they’ll be kept away, but there could be some hidden (hopefully not in your candy!). If you experience a problem, please message or tag me. Cheers and happy Hallowe’en hunting!
EDIT: One quick note about the prize Detector. Once you collect 5 candies, click on the leaderboard so it syncs your total, then the candy corn icon will show in the toolbar.
PSA: If anyone has a 'null' value on the leaderboard and / or is receiving an error message when clicking on candy, please PM or tag me, or another staff member. Your won’t be able to collect more candy until it’s cleared. This error is usually the result of an outdated browser. Please update your browser, and if the null error persists, message me your browser and the version. You can also use a different browser and see if that works. Thank you so much!
PSA: the Scavenger Hunt Leaderboard can display an incorrect total
The leaderboard falls out of sync with the mini profile after several hours and will show an incorrect, lower amount. If you only collected a couple pieces of candy, you may no longer be on the leaderboard, or the 'null' value may return.
Finding another piece of candy will resolve the issue and sync the leaderboard with your mini profile. Please be aware, this could occur again, after several hours of inactivity. However, your mini profile is always keeping an accurate track of the amount of candy you’ve found. At the end of the Scavenger Hunt, the totals from the mini profile will be used to determine the winners.

But here's something funny. The first piece of candy I found was in the popcorn award on someone's profile. I find that rather amusing. Like it's in there and it's going to melt all over the popcorn, and then I can mix it all together and make candy corn popcorn balls. Yum! 😋

NOTE: I changed the colour of the number count on the leaderboard because it was too difficult to read with the Hallowe’en theme colours. It is now eye-popping orange!

I really love this. I love it so very, very much. I've got my playlist with all my Halloween songs and remixes, and I just turn it on and go candy hunting. This is marvelous.

Worms I love your avatar. This is a perfect costume for Ikatako to go trick or treating in. He's very cute and would receive more candies than other Trick or Treaters.
