To celebrate the DragonVale Community Forum’s 12th anniversary, we are embarking on a CHRYSALIS EGG HUNT!
Find as many eggs as you can, and the top five players will be immortalised on the Scavenger Hunt Hall of Fame on the first page of this thread.
START AND END DATES
Starts: April 4th at 14:00 UTC (daily reset of DragonVale)
Ends: April 11th at 14:00 UTC (daily reset of DragonVale)
HOW TO PLAY
Chrysalis eggs are randomly dispersed all over the Forum. Just read the Forum as usual, or click around and scroll away to find them. There are a variety of different eggs, and they will all be available every day.
Whenever you open a page, there may or may not be an egg hiding. You can find an egg on the Home page, open a thread, then return to the Home page, and another egg may be there. There is only one egg per page, so no need to keep looking; the Detector will deactivate (more on the Detector below). Almost any page can have an egg, including a posting page or reply page on a thread or message.
On your mini profile, there is a picnic basket to store the dragon eggs you found. The mini profile will keep track of how much you’ve collected. Currently, it’s displaying an egg with a question mark because any Chrysalis egg can appear. If you click on the picnic basket, a message will show confirming your egg total.
When you find an egg, click or tap it. It will be added to your picnic basket, and this pop-up will show.
HOW TO WIN
Find as many dragon eggs as you can during the Egg Hunt. The five members with the highest collection count will be added to the Scavenger Hunt Hall of Fame and an animated butterfly background (see the profiles of MinyaZ, Samiam, and Drow) will be added to their mini profile for a month with the title 'Chrysalis Egg Hunt Winner'. If you prefer to not have the background and/or title, just let me know.
MORE EGGS!
Did you get a late start on the Egg Hunt? Too busy trying to catch butterflies? Fall down one of the many internet rabbit holes? No problem! On DragonVale Double Days, each egg will randomly be worth 1-2 eggs. And on the DragonVale Community Forum’s anniversary, each egg will be worth 1-3 eggs. A quick way to increase your score!
• On regular days, every egg you find will add one egg (+1 egg) to your total
• On DragonVale Double Days (one weekday and over the weekends), each egg will randomly add 1-2 eggs to your total
• On the DragonVale Community Forum’s anniversary (6 April), each egg will randomly add 1-3 eggs to your total
EGG DETECTOR
After you find 5 eggs, you will unlock the prize Detector. Since the Forum has thousands of pages, and many are very long, it would be extremely tiresome to scroll through page after page looking for eggs with little to no reward. The Detector will be immensely beneficial, save you time, and help you find more eggs.
In the lower right-hand corner of your screen, there is a toolbar. If it’s hidden, click on the small arrow to expand it (on a tablet or phone, you may need to tap several times before your device responds). When you’ve unlocked the Detector, an animated icon will appear on the toolbar.
The Detector has two images: activated and deactivated. The activated image is an animated butterfly. If the Detector is activated, that means there is an egg on the page. The deactivated image is an animated fake butterfly trying to fool you. If the Detector is deactivated, that means there’s no egg on the page.
If you click on the Detector icon in the toolbar, it will open the animated images so you can see them better.
Yes, egg is in sight!
Real butterfly!
No egg on the page
Imposter butterfly!
TIP: Once you collect 5 eggs, click on the Scavenger Hunt leaderboard (more info on the leaderboard below) so it syncs your total, then the Detector icon will show in the toolbar.
The Detector will save you from spending your days scrolling through lengthy pages. There’s no time for that — it’s already been 12 years!
HOW MANY EGGS WILL FIT IN A PICNIC BASKET?
There will be a random number between 1-15 eggs for you to find with each visit to the Forum. So if the Detector hasn’t alerted you in a while, your basket may be full, and you’ll need to revisit.
LEADERBOARD
On the navigation bar, click on the Scavenger Hunt button and you’ll see how many eggs your fellow Valers have collected.
The leaderboard can fall out of sync with the mini profile after several hours. It will sometimes show an incorrect, lower amount. If you collected a small number of eggs, after several hours of inactivity, you may no longer be on the leaderboard. In addition, sometimes a 'null' value will show instead of the collection count.
LEADERBOARD GLITCHES
If there’s a discrepancy between the count on your mini profile and the leaderboard, or if you’re no longer on the leaderboard, or if the leaderboard shows 'null' instead of your amount, finding a couple more eggs will resolve the issue and sync the leaderboard with your mini profile. Please be aware, the leaderboard amount could decrease again, after several hours of inactivity. However, your mini profile will always keep an accurate track of the number of eggs you’ve found. Therefore, at the end of the Egg Hunt, the totals from the mini profile will be used to determine the winners.
To prevent your mini profile and the leaderboard from falling out of sync, please follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT
To ensure your egg count is not disrupted
1. Do not use the back button after you find an egg or after opening the leaderboard. Try to use the Forum’s buttons and links. (It’s fine to use the back button to read and navigate the Forum, just refrain when you’re doing scavenger activities.)
2. Do not open another tab when there's a collectable egg on the first tab unless you’ve already collected the egg.
3. Do not let an egg sit on the screen (it’s gonna rot!). Gather it as soon as you spot it, or ignore it, but do not scroll back to find it or collect it later.
Any of the above or similar actions result in stale data and can corrupt your egg count and other members’ egg counts on the leaderboard.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Please use this thread to make any posts about the Chrysalis Egg Hunt. Let us know how you’re doing, if you’re experiencing any problems, or if you have any suggestions. And please keep everyone updated on your egg collection!
As always, you must be viewing the Forum in its desktop version to participate in the hunt. If you’re on a mobile device, just click Desktop in the lower right corner of the page. You’ll also need to be a member (the leaderboard can’t keep track of your eggs as a guest). Membership is free, only requires an email, and takes mere seconds — so jump into the egg fun with us, we’d love to have you onboard.
If you don’t want to play, you can ignore the eggs. However, if that proves to be difficult or if the eggs are too distracting and you do not want to see any eggy content, please message me.
Many cheers and happy egg hunting!

Today is a special day, as we’ve reached a dozen years, like a dozen eggs!
This calls for an epic egg celebration — triple eggs! For the next 24 hours, all eggs will randomly be worth 1-3 eggs. It’s a marvellous time to catch up on your egg collection!

Yesterday, I forgot it was going to be the forum’s birthday today. But as soon as I woke up the first thing that popped in my head was “OMG it’s the 12th anniversary!” I wondered if adlerist will have anything special planned. Lol, silly me. I opened the site and there was fireworks and confetti and 3x the eggs!!! WOOT!! It’s a total celebration! 🥳
Happy Anniversary Everyone! I was wondering why the site was so pretty. I've got a late start to my egg hunt
You may have started the Egg Hunt late, but you are cruising. Whoa, over 900 eggs in an hour! 😮
Dragonglow, Chromascale, Berrimill, Elf, and MaDa are leading the hunt in the most impressive way!
Eggs galore!

DragonVale Community Forum’s 12th anniversary has concluded and so has triple eggs. But it’s a DV Double Day! And that means all Egg Hunt finds will randomly result in one or two eggs!
🦋 Double up on your butterfly eggs today! 🦋

Today is the last day of the Chrysalis Egg Hunt, and we’re doubling up! Earn double eggs for each egg find.
Every egg is randomly worth 1-2 eggs. The Egg Hunt concludes on Thursday, April 11th at 14:00 UTC (DV’s daily reset). Don’t give up, there are still a ton of eggs scattered all over the place! 🥚🦋🥚

Thank you everybody for playing the Chrysalis Egg Hunt!
We had a sensational time searching for eggs with you while celebrating the DragonVale Community Forum’s 12th anniversary. Sadly, the hunt has come to an end, and the eggs have left the Forum. But the good news is we’re another year wiser, and we have some wonderful new entries for the Scavenger Hunt Hall of Fame!
The egg totals will be verified for each member using the amount on their mini-profile (the leaderboard can sometimes be out of sync). Tomorrow, the winners will be announced on this thread. Happy 12th, everybody!

All the eggs have been carefully counted from your picnic baskets, and we have some new and repeat winners! Without further ado, the top five players for the Chrysalis Egg Hunt are… drum roll…
1. dragonglow with an egg-breaking, egg-traordinary collection of 8,340 eggs takes first place
2. Elf with an egg-normous 3,684 eggs egg-mazingly secured second place
3. jodragonvale egg-spertly tapped up an egg-stonishing 3,114 eggs
4. chromascale with egg-sane egg skills egg-celled to 1,710 eggs
5. fly egg-cellently found and collected an egg-treme 1,529 eggs
The champions have been inducted into the Scavenger Hunt Hall of Fame on the first post of this thread. In addition, animated butterflies were added to their mini-profiles for a month, along with the title 'Chrysalis Egg Hunt Winner' (if you do not want the butterflies and/or title, please let me know), plus a special temporary badge from the last snowball fight of winter.
As stated earlier, the collection totals were taken from each player’s mini-profile. The leaderboard can be out of sync, as it tries to keep up with all the hunters, but the mini-profiles are always accurate. If you have any questions or concerns, please message me. Thank you everybody for playing the Chrysalis Egg Hunt, finding so many butterfly eggs, and celebrating the Forum’s anniversary with us!
✨ Hurray to all our Egg Hunters! ✨

So happy! I eggs-ult, my little Somnig is so beautiful with all these eggs-uberant butterflies flying all'around! And this little snowball badge, my first one. ( I wouldn't mind keeping it longer than a week!) Thank you very much for all these funny animations Adlerist!
