Supposing one already has a full collection of decos and doesn't need more iceberries, does anyone know if it is better to sell the decos from treasure chests during the event to get iceberries (which become dragon cash at event's end) or sell them afterwards for dragon cash?
For maximum DC, it would be best to sell the duplicate decorations for Iceberries, then use those Iceberries to buy the items in the event market with the best Iceberries to DC conversion rate (see below or the first page of this thread).
If you can be bothered, selling for iceberries - you can use those iceberries on more items from the event market, including ones with a really good rate on gold
Further to this, will the decos sell for future event currency if I hold onto them? In particular, eggs during the Egg Hunt at Easter? I’m clearing out my gifts and whilst I can sell the decos for ice berries, I don’t really need to, given that I’ve bred all dragons and am sitting on 100K. Thanks for any possible advice!
Yes, you can hold on to the winter evolve decorations until next year, then sell them during the next winter event for 50 Iceberries each.
The same applies for all the other evolve decorations, just wait until their event rolls around again. The only evolve decos that don’t payout event currency are the Effigies for the Ghostly primary dragons.
Here’s the payout for the evolve decorations:
• Evolve deco sold during its event = 50 event currency • Evolve deco sold outside its event = 10,000 DC • Effigies for Ghostly primaries = 50,000 DC (never event currency)
If you need DC, these are the event market items with the best Iceberries to DC exchange
The above information is always posted on the first page of the event thread. Many thanks to MinyaZ for these calculations and amos for proving the numbers during previous events.

Real life has me hard right now and I can barely visit my park once a day. And I’m only visiting the forum to pay my pledges in the limited comp. 😕
Edit: never mind, I just saw it on page 22, and I missed it all! 😭 I never got the pop up in game either. 😭😭😭😭😭
Me too, completely missed it. My excuse is a cross-country move involving a week-long drive... barely time to get into the park once a day, no time for the forum...
The forum is an amazing resource of information that’s kept up to date and there’s always new info and news. I always check the forum every day. I have the forum bookmarked and saved to my phone’s home screen. I just click on the forum’s icon on my home screen and see if there’s any new posts. It only takes a couple seconds. I’m usually at work so I don’t have a chance to login, but I usually do a quick check for new posts a couple times during the day.
I’ve gotten in the habit of checking the forum BEFORE I open DV every day so if there’s bugs or updates or something new I know about it. I recommend saving the forum to your home screen so it’s easy to access. Check for new posts to see if anything was posted recently, and scroll back to the last post you saw so if you missed a day or two you’re still on top of the info. It only takes a couple seconds to see if there’s new info posted that is important to your park.
I hope that helps, it helps me a lot so I stay in the loop.
Thank you for the comprehensive answer! Just for my understanding: 1) If you have a regular Galaxy but not a twin, can you then get a non-twin from the Egg of Mystery? Or will it immediately jump to traited twin? 2) Can you at all clone Galaxy dragons (not Rigel/Lunis/Solis) in the Rift?
If you have a regular Galaxy dragon but not a twin, a Galaxy EOM will give a twin traited Galaxy. To obtain a non twin Galaxy dragon, you must not have the dragon in your park before you purchase a Galaxy EOM.
Rigel, Lunis and Solis are the only Galaxy dragons that can be bred in the Rift. Rigel is the only galaxy that can be cloned in the Rift, Lunis and Solis must be bred. If you already have a Rift Lunis/Solis you can use it as a parent but you must breed it with a Moon/Sun. If you try Lunis + Cold you will never breed a Lunis.
Lunis and Solis can be cloned only in the co-op cave. They can both be bred in all caves.
I know that these rules are confusing - it would be nice if Deca would make the breeding rules consistent.
A couple of additional comments regarding the Galaxy Eggs of Mystery. They do not guarantee an unowned Galaxy dragon, so expect to receive a lot of duplicates. They also increase in price rather quickly and don't max out until 225,000 Etherium.
I believe none of the mystery eggs you can buy in the Rift guarantee an unowned dragon. I think the only time this happens is with the daily reward mystery egg, and that’s only if you don’t own all the dragons in that category.
Correct me if I’m wrong adlerist but there are several types of mystery eggs you can get from the daily rewards like Gemstone, Galaxy, Rare, and Epic. If your next reward is a Galaxy mystery egg, and you own all the Galaxy dragons, you get a random twin. Or do you get a Rift twin?
This is different than the Galaxy eggs you buy in the Rift tho. I think I might have changed the topic a little. 😅
That’s correct. If you own all the Galaxy dragons, and your next Daily Reward is the Galaxy Egg of Mystery, you’ll receive a random Galaxy dragon. It will be a twin, unless you already own a twin, then it’ll be a traited-twin. Same for the Daily Rewards Gemstone, Rare, and Epic Egg of Mystery.
The game doesn’t recognise you’re missing a twin or traited-twin from the collection. Once you have all the dragons in the collection, it’ll randomly select a dragon. The version of the dragon you receive is based on what you own. This can be very frustrating for players who are missing one twin or traited-twin. But it’s not a bug. Backflip said it is intentional.
There seems to be some confusion about how the mystery eggs are rewarded, so I’ll try to break it down and hopefully it’ll be less confusing. Because believe it or not, there is some logic behind it.
The Daily Reward mystery egg is the only egg that guarantees an unowned dragon, provided that you don’t own all the dragons in the collection.
The Daily Reward mystery egg follows the pattern of the standard mystery eggs / event egg rewards / RBCs:
• If you don’t own the dragon = regular • If you own a regular version = twin • If you own a twin = traited-twin
The limited Egg of Mystery for Galaxy, Chrysalis, Monolith, and Snowflake are special. These eggs are specifically designed to allow players to breed the collection in the Rift — so all the dragons you’ll receive are traited. Therefore, the pattern is slightly different:
• If you don’t own the dragon = traited • If you own any version of the dragon = traited-twin
There’s no regular or twin version available.
It may seem confusing, but Backflip purposefully designed it this way. It would be very frustrating for players to spend Etherium on the special limited mystery eggs, and regular or regular twin versions of the dragon popped up. Since untraited dragons can’t be used as breeding parents in the Rift, it’s useless to have them in the limited eggs. We already complain about breeding untraited dragons in the Rift, surely we don’t want to spend Etherium on expensive limited eggs and get more untraited dragons. That’s what the Vale is for.

Thanks for that! That’s a great explanation, I always wondered why the special mystery eggs were so different. I forget that they only have traited dragons. Yea, that would be annoying if the dragons didn’t have traits. 😅 Since the regular and twin versions are skipped it goes from traited to traited twin. That’s interesting I never thought of it that way but it does make sense!

Breeding Target: Ovalith. It's ALWAYS Ovalith! Hoarded gems as a safety net to ensure an Ovalith during BEB, but I'm not sure if I want to spend them: I think I want the thrill of breeding it! Gems wasted on speeding up Ovalith breeding/incubation: 2890
Has anybody had this problem? I was trying to get all the decorations so 1) I paid gems to play the Name the Dragon game a bunch of times so I got a bunch of treasure chests with decorations, and then 2) bought a bunch of toy chests which are supposed to be guaranteed to contain decorations you don't own. I got all the decorations this way except for the green nutcracker. Then I bought two more toy chests and they were repeats... but I still don't have the green nutcracker :-(. Is this a bug?
I sent a message to DECA but I only have two days to figure out how to spend the rest of my iceberries. I don't want to buy any more repeats.

It does sound like a bug! The chest should give you sent from the ones you don’t have - are you sure you don’t already have it, hidden on an island somewhere?

Yeah I checked the Dragonarium (three times).
Oddly enough, I just tried to upgrade a GIFT into Trepak, and it worked, so at least the bug didn't keep me from getting the dragon I was trying to get. Weird. At least the bug only has a problem with decoration aesthetics (which I'm not very good at), not dragon evolution. So that's good.

That sounds very odd that the Dragonarium isn't showing that you have the green nutcracker but you can still evolve a Gift.
Is the green nutcracker still in your social menu and not placed in your park? Perhaps the game recognises it in the Social Menu which allows you to evolve a Gift dragon.

You must’ve sorted out the issue already, because I can see the green nutcracker in your park. If not, let me know and I’ll report the bug. Cheers!

Really happy with my efforts this event. Bred all of the new dragons to maintain a full Dragonarium, twin weekend was fruitful, and I had great success with the RBC. Firstly I wanted a Midnight, but realised I didn’t have a twin! So I was able to get both the twin and twin-rift. The other focus I had was for my Chrysalis rift collection, of which I was almost able to complete. I bred the entire Chrysalis collection but missed out on claiming just 3 (Faux, Trilobite and Busby) due to budget constraints! I also claimed a Chaiko for the rift version. I found Zumi tough due to not having a rifted Snowball; or so I thought! With 2 days of breeding left I found a R-Snowball in my park, level 20 no less!
I cashed-in all of the remaining wintry gifts I had in my social menu (over 100 of them) and ended with 113K ice berries. I bought the new pedestals I needed, maxed-out the ornamental and snowflake habitats, and bought regular versions of Snowflake 7 and Jimjam. Also went with a different strategy and bought doubles of dragons I only had 1 of, like Neyvee and Jingle, in case they become part of a combo down the track.
Anyway, I’m off to complete some much-needed redecoration of my park. 49/50 islands and I’ve run out of space lol!
I hope everyone here had an equally enjoyable event! Bring on the next one!
