The DragonVale Sandbox is a DV breeding simulator created in 2017 by Drow. It is a cornerstone of the game, and tens of thousands of players depend on it to help them breed dragons. Players can find the best breeding or cloning combinations, look up which dragon they bred, display the breeding results of any two dragons, search for dragons by their elements, look up quests, calculate how much DC a dragon earns, and so much more. The sandbox is an essential tool for all DV players.
Please use the DragonVale Sandbox thread to post questions or to report an issue. Thank you!

In June 2024, the DV Sandbox received a significant update. Drow rewrote the sandbox to include accurate breeding and cloning percentages! There may be some discrepancies when a dragon has a requirement like nighttime/daytime, weather, or if a dragon has separate percentages if already owned. But overall, players can be confident that the sandbox provides reliable results. Hurray!
Accurate breeding percentages in the sandbox have been a long-time request from DV players. Enormous thanks to Drow for the time and work to answer players’ wishes and to Quil, who brought the percentages to light from the dusty data.
Please be aware that the cloning percentages are calculated and therefore not always accurate. It is best to use the DV Compendium or the DV Lair for accurate cloning percentages.

To find the outcomes for a breeding combo, select the parent dragons from the drop-down menus.
1. Click the '?' in the upper right corner for instructions.
2. Click on the name of the dragon and the dragon’s page on the DV Wiki will open.
Options
• Upgraded Cave: 20% reduced breeding/incubation times for the dragons at the Enchanted Breeding Cave and Epic Breeding Island
• Co-op Cave: Results and breeding percentages at the Cooperative Breeding Cave. The co-op usually has different cloning percentages from the other breeding locations.
• Rift Cave: Results from the Rift Breeding Cave will show.
• Bring 'em Back: Bring 'em Back (BEB) was a mini-event created by Backflip Studios (former owner DragonVale). During the event, all the limited dragons were released for approximately a month. BEB has been replaced by Dragon’s Week, but it’s still a critical component for a DV simulator because it allows players to display the breeding combos and results of expired dragons. If a dragon is not showing as available or has expired, select Bring 'em Back to see the results.
In the drop-down menus, select how the list of dragons should display, with images (cards) or without images (list), and alphabetically, shortest to longest breeding time, or highest to lowest breeding percentage.

Use the Parent Finder to find a breeding hint or breeding combo for a dragon. Select the target dragon from the drop-down menu.
1. Click the '?' in the upper right corner for instructions.
2. Click on a breeding pair to see a list of the offspring.
If the box for 'if I don’t have one to breed with' is checked, the breeding hint or breeding combos will display. If the box is unchecked, the cloning pairs will show with the target dragon in the combos.
3. List of offspring from Cold + Omen

In December 2023, Drow added Event Dragon to the sandbox. The page displays all the dragons and their breeding combos for the current event with their images and eggs. During the rare occasion when no event is running, Event Dragons is removed.

Players frequently need to know which dragons have specific elements, or the dragons in a collection, or the hidden primary elements of epic dragons that will affect the breeding outcomes. On the All Dragons page, select the desired elements, and a list of dragons that match those elements will show. The results can be sorted by the dragon’s name, number of elements, or breeding time.
In the below screenshot, dragons that carry all ten hidden breeding elements (not displayed on their profile card) are in the listed results.

In June 2024, Drow and clsForCoding discovered how the dragons DC rates are calculated. As a result, Drow added a new Income section to the sandbox so players can easily find a dragon’s actual DC rate (the in-game amount showing on the dragon's profile card is lower than the actual amount). Players who DC farm will find the Income page invaluable to determine what level they should feed their DC farming dragons. For more information, please review the DC Farming Guide.
1. Click the '?' in the upper right corner for instructions.
Recommended Habitats
To see the habitats for a specific dragon, and how long it takes for the habitat to reach DC capacity based on a dragon’s level and boosts, follow the instructions below.
in the big table of incomes, click on the income of a dragon and level you're interested in... Tien at level 18 looks fun.
this temporarily swaps out the income table for a list of recommended habitats which you might use for DC farming this dragon. these are sorted in order of time to fill – the habitat's DC capacity divided by its dragon capacity and the DC income of the selected dragon.
you can still change which boosts are in effect, and change the selected dragon's level. to return to the income table, uncheck the checkbox next to the dragon's name at the top of the page.
questions or comments welcome, as ever. happy DC farming!

Find the correct dragon to send on a quest under the Quest page. And while you’re waiting for your dragon eggs to incubate, test your DV knowledge with a Crossword or play several rounds of Dargons Amok!
Dargons Amok
On 2 May 2024, Drow added Dargons Amok to the sandbox. The beloved Dargon stars in this Minesweeper game.
If you believe you’ve located a Dargon and you’re on a mobile device, tap Option (on iOS) or ALT (Android) in the lower left corner, then tap the square to mark it as Dargon. Warning: you can only mark ONE square. So if you’ve identified more than one Dargon, you must tap Option/ALT first, before tapping another Dargon square.
