I’ll check out this game, but I admit I’m not the biggest Potter fan out there. However, it looks like there’s some in this thread. Hopefully, everyone can meet up in the game.

I like Monument Valley, it's a beautiful kind of maze/puzzle that plays with 3-D like an Escher drawing, but you have to pay to download it, and once you figure out the tricks on each level, there's no challenge in replaying it. But it's still beautiful and kind of soothing.
Monument Valley is spectacular. For those who who haven’t experienced it, the 3D game came out in 2014, swept all the design awards, and five years later it still enthrals its audience. Maybe other magnificent 3D games have sprouted since then, but in 2014 this one had everyone floored. There’s an in-app purchase called Forgotten Shores that adds eight more stunning chapters to the storyline. And there’s also a separate app called Monument Valley 2. It’s not a sequel; it’s a standalone story so its predecessor isn’t required. But it has all the beauty captured by the first Monument Valley.
I haven’t opened the game in years, but now I will and look forward to revisiting the masterpiece. This isn’t a game where you build a city or breed dragons or collect characters. You’ll solve the Escher-esque puzzles and move on to something else. You won’t play Monument Valley every day, but you’ll never forget playing Monument Valley. It is exceptional.

i hghly recommend World of Goo;a physics game with cute balls of goo and a surreal storyline I still havent figured out...they’ve finally upgraded to 64 bits it seems, so I’ll rebuy the upgrade 😄

I'm always playing multiple games on my phone or ipad. Very few have lasted years, and I generally play a bunch of different style games. I usually have 1 or 2 idle games that I just check in on once a day or so, or more often but in very short durations. I did play Summoner's War for almost 4+ years but stopped this year finally, that's a game with a lot of depth, a huge player base, but it sure takes a lot of time and energy to keep up. It's a collect monsters/characters and battle game, pretty much the original that many other games have tried to clone over the years.
For idle games, Nimblebit has been one of my favorite publishers. Their tower games, pocket games, etc are mindless but fun for a while, and they are the absolute best in the market in supporting free to play players and giving you a lot for small amounts if you do want to make purchases. It's a small team and they often use a retro style in their graphics, but the gameplay is often something very new. I'm currently playing Disco Zoo, which they finally updated after years.
The game I've been playing the most in the past couple months is something called Shop Titans, saw an ad for it as the game of the day back in September and tried it out. It didn't seem like there was a lot of depth to it at first, but there really is and it has hooked me for now. The idea of the game is that you run a magic shop, where adventurers come in to buy and sell (mostly buy) items. You can design your shop, invest in a city around you to make all sorts of different kinds of gear, and build an adventuring team that goes out and collects materials to help you make more items. You can equip your team too, you can join guilds where everyone shares in upgrading your city, and focus on various items to level up and make new/better tiers of those item types. After years of playing adventure games where I run briefly into a shop and sell extra stuff, it's funny seeing it from the other side.

Two games that I enjoy playing are Flutter: Butterfly Sanctuary and Flutter: Starlight Sanctuary.
I've been playing Flutter: Starlight Sanctuary for about a week now, and that's really saying something because most games don't hold my attention for more than a day or two (hence the reason why DragonVale is so special because it's the only game that kept me coming back for four years). It's easy to play, the graphics and music are relaxing, and the prize wheel let's you keep spinning for coins and rewards for as long as you like.
I like this game enough to want to play the original version, which is Flutter: Butterfly Sanctuary. The difference being that, in the original, you collect and raise butterflies, while in Starlight Sanctuary you raise colorful moths.
The Christmas event has just started in the original version, and so far I'm loving it. I recommend giving these games a try. And I'm happy to say that even if DragonVale goes away, I've found something that I'll continue to play for quite some time.

Oooohhhhh no i was excited...but it’s a fb game 😩, so not for me
It seems like if you want a social aspect to many games they force you into Facebook. What is wrong with in-game friending? I never had a FB and never will.
I started playing Codycross and enjoy that as a quick distraction puzzle mind sharpener.

Oops ⬆️ I seem to be so tired right now that I hit post without posting anything 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway......
I also absolutely loved monument valley. The puzzles, the design, the music, everything about it! Another one from a few years back was Journey. I think is was a dlc on ps2, maybe. That music was hypnotic, the scenery of dunes and scarves, what can I say. You could see other players, also on the journey, but never actually communicate, so surreal. Like @kiwichris1, I also enjoyed the challenge of World of Goo. I really must revisit it. Dragonvale was/is my only serious attention game. Other than DV, I like all the games from King, shuffle cats, candy crush soda etc. I like that they don’t demand anything from you.
I, also, don’t do Facebook, never have, never will.

Yeah, and I’m amazed at how much I’m enjoying Jigsaws...

Never tried the online jigsaws as I prefer analog 1000 piece (sometimes 3D!) puzzles. CodyCross is a cascading word puzzle that I think you would enjoy. They throw a short ad at you between them but nothing too irritating. If you get stuck on a word you can use two of your cheats by dragging the little yellow guy to a letter to uncover it. You can then get your two back by watching an ad after that puzzle.

DV is the only game I’ve ever played that required FB to add friends. At DV’s inception, Game Center was the iOS access to friending, but once GC ended, FB was it. That meant those who refused to be pressured into FB had no way to add new people. As a result, I never used the co-op to breed twins or new dragons. I only had GC players, who didn’t have anything in the co-op I needed, and of course there was no way to communicate with them. It wasn’t until DV’s friending system started nine months ago that I was finally able to start breeding and collecting twins, and cloning new dragons. Depending on FB is a terrible business model. But it’s always nice to see so many here who are doing just fine without it.

Thankyou soooo much DragonMoonX for the heads up re these games (and reading the Ts &Cs are they NZ games!?!? Or is that just cos I’m in NZ?) I am LOVING them, have just downloaded the Starlight version. Pretty! it’s more helpful to newbies in its tips, the original I struggled to understand for a wee while. Jus got my first wee pollen bee...ha ha love him! They are not as demanding on the grey matter, compared to DV, so relaxing, not challenging, at my levels anyway. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone 🥂🍾

Tracked the devs down...YES!!! Based in Dunedin NZ...woot!
Wish I could add the new Flutter players to my friends list there. I play Flutter, Splash, and Cat Cafe by Runaway. I also enjoy jigsaw puzzles and color by number apps.

So how do we? We could exchange info here? Or become GC friends? They have a message or an email invite button...let me know if you want me to try those; so far Cyn is the only one I can give/receive with
Kiwichris To add friends through GC now requires sharing phone numbers. 😳 We can try the email method. I’ll pm you my email. Or there’s Facebook...
PS: I play Flutter:Butterfly. Tried the Starlight for a while but prefer the butterfly version. Splash is similar but players collect fish varieties. What I love about the Runaway games is that they are based on real life items: butterflies, moths, fish and cats.
Kiwichris, Thanks for the Frog Treats! I downloaded the game after you mentioned it here so how is it I am so far ahead of you? Did you download and then not play it for a week? Anyway... pro tip: If you receive any white Snowdrop flowers for reaching milestones, place them in your park immediately! They give Sap, Barkbugs, and speed up a Chrysalis. I’ve been stumbling through the game until I found this: FLUTTER STARLIGHT GUIDE. |
