I’m playing both the butterfly day and moth night games;would love additional friends to share gifts with: Kath Cameron on fakebook ( nomdeplume 😈 if anyone wants another 🦋sharing pal
I finally decided it might be a good idea to read the FAQs for each game lol
I have one butterfly which breeds free eggs, and tripled it, love the sound of your plain tiger special ability! I agree about the up and downsizing, and butterflies with abilities I’m not interested in are the ones I store
In the moth nighttime game the decorations have special abilities, and apparently a new one is available in the shop at the beginning of each week...so,I’ll be watching that

I didn't know about the moth flower abilities - must look into that. Thanks for the headsup!
oomagooma25 Thank you for mentioning the egg layer can duplicate itself. 😊 Those that upgrade an attract flower are meant for the ones in your forest that pop up when collecting honeydew from your butterflies. They can be used on regular flowers or event flowers. If you have any that create flowers, they have a chance of getting an event flower.
cecilia There are some really small butterflies and some really big ones. If you’re really attracted to them the “enlarge or make smaller” butterflies come in handy for keeping them in your forest. I have them in storage.
In Flutter, the butterflies have the abilities and the decoration spots are free. It’s also free to fuse butterflies. In the events the flowers appear in order from common to legendary.
In Starlight, the flowers have the abilities and the decoration spots cost coins to uncover. (I don’t remember if at the beginning there were any free decor spots.) It costs coins to fuse moths. Starlight is a bit more challenging due to everything costing coins and those flowers with abilities being hard to come by. In the Starlight events the flowers appear in random order.
Another game I occasionally play, an idle rpg named Almost a Hero, just announced today that they're sending the game to a new company, DECA. At least I know what to expect.

Yes, the Starlight nighttime game is a bit more miserly of spirit, I feel. There is just no way to complete the rare sets other than spending big RL$ by either buying that $35 flower that lets you duplicate an egg, or buying flutterbucks to buy an egg from every visiting moth... I guess it gives us a ‘long game’, but beside the generosity of the daytime Flutter, it feels stingy to me, so I’m resisting giving them $ so far... huh, maybe I’m the stingy one 😂

About 3 months ago I was wishing for an egg laying butterfly. Now I have 5. My new wish is for a butterfly that chops expansion foliage. Wishful thinking

Yep, emailed them. Thought it might have been the event, but now that it’s over, still laggy. Did the force close etc in case it was my iPad. Not. One time it hung so long I thought it would crash. Mailed them again. Today it seems a little better... you? No response yet and no listing it as a ‘known issue’... but it’s been the W/end here... And no lag in the moth game...

I emailed them also. My game has not improved. Did the force quit and deleted and then installed game. Still waiting to hear back.
I’ve done all the above except email support. Flutter is lagging like crazy on the iPad. It works fine on my Android phone. Starlight and Splash are also working normally.

Besides egg laying butterflies, which do you think are most important? Since I haven't been playing that long, I don't know what abilities are most valuable. Thanks for any advice!

These are the ones I keep in my forest to help with events or expansion:
Create sap, create a frog treat, create a leaf, create a twig, create an attract flower, duplicate a wisp, hurry a caterpillar, hurry a pupa, hurry an egg, hurry the wisp mother, make all butterflies land, make all butterflies take off, chop an expansion foliage.
Some come from normal sets but most come from events. The most valuable, in my opinion, are the chop an expansion foliage butterflies.
I've enjoyed playing Starlight and Sanctuary for quite a while now, but lately I've found it has become so predicatable and repetitive I've decided to give a rest for a while. Each event is so programmed that to complete the end goal requires many logins per day, something I'm no longer prepared to do.
I began playing when it looked as if we were going to lose Dragonvale, but that didn't happen and I think the future looks bright for that one with new content forecast.
I don't think all the friends I exchange gifts with are on this forum - I know kiwichris is - and I apoligise for my sudden disappearance.
If they change the parameters of the game some time in the future I'll possibly pick it up again as I'm not actually deleting it.

Thanks for the heads up Cecilia, I understand your feelings I guess due to loading delays, regular crashes even at reduced sharpness (sorry, brain will not recall the mode name), and non stop event pressure (even the so called recent break released new dragons), and all of the dragons I never see because they’re stuck in storage...I think dv for me as a decorator ( rather than completionist and smoke chaser) is now just difficult. These days when it crashes I just stop playing for the day, I’m so over that. So for me the butterflies are still fun, but I agree, the only way to achieve all stages in each event is to start as soon as they begin and log in every couple of hours...perhaps they will pall for me too I may just go back to jigsaws and mah jong!
I don’t know if I’ve ever said this to you, but your very clever pen and ink drawing, for me, always first is perceived as a cat lying on its back looking at the viewer, head is the reeds, with a hind leg up in the air 😄 I had to look carefully to see the duck instead 😂😂 It’s lovely

Ah! Jigsaws!!!!! If I've spent too much money on online purchases during this pandemic it's succulent plants and jigsaws. Have had one in progress for quite a few years now and at the moment doing a 2000 piece Josephine Wall design which is proving quite a challenge.
Must now check out my little pen drawn duck with fresh eyes to find that cat. So glad you have your great PM back. Hope you are to - if not we'd all willingly swap for ours.

Yes v v happy to have Jacinta back, altho I voted Green, just because...reasons! Labour, now that they have such a clear mandate, have to DELIVER tho, on many fronts; affordable housing, child poverty, taxing the 1% , etc etc I don’t know if kiwis will give a third term otherwise...but that in turn depends on how the other parties reinvent themselves for 21st century issues The interesting thing for me, was the contrast between the policy-ages, of several of the other parties...there is swell of change for fresh ideas, I feel, and a couple of the other parties just look so stale and left behind, We live in interesting times!
