odd, cloudflare seems to have lost a css file. forcing it to update its cache, you may have to reload the page.
Thank you so much, Drowster! It works like a dream!

Yes, in the parent finder. It’s not 130% anymore, but still 104.9% for spectre and 101.7% for ghostly spectre. I have screen shots, but I’ve never figured out the hosting stuff for pics and can’t do it now. Sorry, Covid brain. Hopefully it will do it for you. If not, let me know and I will try to post pics.
no pics needed, thanks!
i've sorted out what was happening, fixed the code, and regenerated all the backend data.
the percentages are still going to be different than the compendium, since i'm using a different set of assumptions and calculations, but at least its less than 100%
Any chance you can divulge what calculations/assumptions are used? Always been curious!

sure!
keeping in mind that the original logic was written five years ago, just based on a month or so of tracking breeding results.
there were half as many dragons as there are now, and there have been several significant changes in breeding rules as well.
its just assigning a weight to each dragon, and dividing the weight of one dragon by the sum of weights of all possible dragons in the results.
for example, the odds of breeding a lava dragon from fire + earth is calculated as ( lava / ( obsidian + bone + burrow + lava + soot ) ) * 100%
the weights were originally simply based on type – primary = 2, hybrid = 10, everything else = 1.
those numbers were pretty good five years ago, and its not like there was anything better to compare them to.
since rewriting the site this year, i've started using the same single calculation but with breedingchances as weights,
and arbitrary defaults for dragons sans breedingchances.
i really need to develop better arbitrary defaults, though.
Thanks, that does explain some of the numbers before and after the rewrite. That's great that you're now using the breed chances as part of the calculation.
The ones with no breeding chance don't actually have a default chance. They're dynamic, and fill in the rest of the 'remaining' chance. If 4 dragons are 5% each, and 2 normal hybrids with no set chance are the results, the 2 hybrids split: 100-(5*4)=80: 40% for each one. That's how normal hybrids get squeezed out of rainbow + rainbow type breeds, there's nothing left for them (except it appears to save at least 1% to split between all of the hybrids). When the sum is over 100, your calculation becomes accurate when you put the ones with no set chance to 'very very close to 0'.

This is extremely good to know, because some players (not on the Forum, on another site) keep insisting you’re making up the percentages 😄, as if you're pulling them out of a hat and randomly assigning numbers. You know how a rumour gets started, then everyone assumes it’s the truth. They are quite belligerent that the percentages are not 100% accurate, even though it clearly states on every page of the sandbox that percentages are approximates. People can get really worked up over nothing.

drow , the sandbox is displaying all the pages in one row again, although this time it’s not just the mobile version.
I know a lot of players will be using the sandbox at reset. 😊
BTW, this Cloudfare bug has returned. ☁️

So oddly, I now only see this bug when viewing the sandbox on an iPad Pro. It’s fine on a phone or PC.
It’s not critical, just thought I’d mention it.

oh, i know. literally not worth bothering with them.
drow, it looks like you ended Candy Bash IX a little early in the sandbox. The event concludes on November 2nd (candy collection ends tomorrow). Your latest update reads 'Updated: 2022 Oct 30 - End of Whitbee’s Candy Bash IX'. All the event market dragons are showing as 'cannot be bred right now'. I’m concerned this will confuse new players who always ask if event dragons can be bred after event currency collection ends.

ahh, something got off by one in the scheduler. cie la vie, too late to fix anything for this one.
It was off by more than one, it was off by three. It’s not too late. The dragons in the event market are still breedable until Nov. 2.
I was going to try for Funis in the Rift for the next couple days and noticed it’s showing as not available in the sandbox. Players might think the dragons are not breedable if they’re new to the events.
drow, I noticed some inconsistencies with the sandbox recently.
• Solar Eclipse expired on 1 November.
• When breeding three elements in the Rift, the Rainbow dragons that require any four elements do not show in the Rift results. It appears the Rift is not counted as an element.
• Plant + Plant does not have Dargon or Motley in the offspring results when they’re available or with the BEB option selected.
Thank you!

solar eclipse; all time expirations are on a best effort basis, if they end up off by a day or two because something was miscalculated, or deca changed something... my apologies, but so it goes.
rainbow; odd, rift is definitely considered a breedable element in the code. i'll have to look into it, maybe the parents aren't being tagged with the element when the checkbox is checked.
dargon; yup, you're right, it doesn't. another bug to fix somehow. thanks!
[update] the rainbow and dargon bugs should be fixed now, thanks! since its a client code change, make sure you reload the page.

First of all, thank you very much for maintaining this amazing website! This is the go to website for all the Valers!
secondly, is it possible to donate you money for your hard work? Do you have a patreon or something similar?
thirdly, I’m interested in how do you find all the combinations and percentages?
lastly a suggestion: with several hundred dragons now that scrolling down in the alphabetic list of names is getting tedious. Would it be possible to get a side bar with an alphabet to jump to the initial letter of the name of the dragon we are looking for?
Lapis is showing as unavailable in the sandbox. It’s available from 15 February - 15 May. Cheers!

It seems like there's a problem with how the Sandbox registers Rift elements. It only considers Rift dragons as having the Rift element if they're Rift-exclusive dragons. So, for example, when looking at the possible outcomes of Mirage + Hypnotic, the Dream dragon is not listed as a result when Rift Breeding is checked despite the requirements being met. The Dark and Light elements are contributed by the Mirage dragon and the Hypnotic dragon contributes the Air element and they both contribute the Rift element, which fulfills the Dream dragon's requirement of Dark + Light + 2 other elements. It seems that the Sandbox is aware of the Rift element counting as when using the Parent Finder for a Dream dragon and having "if I use a ____" set to Hypnotic, the top results are Antumbra, Ghast, Nox, Dark Rift, and Lacuna which all have a combined element breed of Dark + Light + Air + Rift with Hypnotic. But after those 5 it only lists dragons with yet another extra element, one more than would be required in the Rift. I'm not sure if this issue has been highlighted before but I wanted to bring attention to it anyway.
