End of event rant: ABSOLUTE RAGE OVER THIS fudge!!!!!!!! (Going to try to edit my words but the amount of expletives I want to use and completely curse out the dev’s for this)
So this event went for almost 45 days, and for the entire event, I tried over I believe 15 different combos in an attempt at the eldrich dragon. And I do understand that it was a 0.1% chance but to get EVERY SINGLE OTHER DRAGON 10 TIMES OVER including the double and triple rainbow (0.2% chance) and not see even one out of the rift or even when I used my only eldrich dragon to try and clone one in any of the islands/cave. COULD NOT EVEN CLONE ONE?!?!?!?! At this point in the game if someone told me the sky was made of cheese it would have been more believable than me actually getting this ******* dragon!!! The entire event, not just a couple days worth of attempting, but the ENTIRE ******* EVENT in trying. I think I would have had a better chance at getting a dragon that isn’t even available right now or going for the chromocorn dragon which shows a 0.0% chance!! This would have been on both parks if I hadn’t stumbled upon my main park having a twin rifted eldrich in my gifts, because I was still trying to get another in my main park.
There better be some sort of compensation or something because this was a giant fail on DECA and I know I’m not the only one who didn’t get certain dragons because the breeding algorithm is bull. DECA FIX THIS fudge!!!!!
The only true positive that came from this event was in both parks I was able to breed all three of the new ones from the hellfire tab
When Eldritch and the Four Horsemen (Barbarous, Charlatan, Macabre, Scourge) were released in 2019 by Backflip, there were loads of complaints about their low breeding percentages. Since then, it has subsided, since they’re no longer new.
For this event, there has been a re-emergence of Eldritch discussions on the Forum and in other DV communities because Eldritch was in a limited breeding combo. During previous Halloween events, Eldritch was not required for a new limited, so the demand to breed it was much less, and there weren’t a lot of complaints about its percentage.
I’m so sorry you had to go through this, woffy2k. I know how aggravating it is to not breed a dragon 30+ days in a row. You mentioned Chromacorn and its impossibility to breed. Chromacorn has a higher percentage (.5%) than Eldritch. Many players, myself included, spent over a month breeding 16 times a day in the Rift just to acquire Chromy. That gives you some idea of how difficult it is to obtain Eldritch. And how it might not be worth trying for during an event.
Since Forum staff typically recommend players buy Eldritch — and this seems contrary to a dragon breeding game — I requested that Eldritch’s percentage be raised. I do not know if Deca will do this. But unless Eldritch has a higher percentage, I’ll continue to suggest players buy the dragon. If you need a traited Eldritch, use the co-op or the RBCs to acquire the twin, then claim the traited-twin at the RBCs.

Happy to know it wasn’t just me with Eldritch breeding fails. It got to the point where I was checking the sandbox every other day because I just *knew* I was using the wrong dragons! Edit: was able to “breed” it by rubbing my event currency against the payment portal and voila- was rewarded with an Eldritch on my first try! 🤣🤣🤣

same deal. Tried every day in the rift for 3 weeks straight, all the way up to 15,000 and no luck. If we already have a non-trained twin, and we select Eldritch from the prizes, will it be traited?

Unfortunately, no. Any dragons purchased from the event market will always be a normal dragon. The only way to get a traited Eldritch other than breeding it or getting lucky in an EOM is to claim one in the Runic Caves next time they appear in an event.

Thanks so much for asking DECA to change Eldritch’s breeding percentage! Hopefully they will but if they don’t we know players need to buy it and plan for the traited Eldritch with the RBC.
PSA: There’s 16 hours left before the event market disappears! Be sure to buy Eldritch! It is highly recommended that you buy it, so you don’t have to worry about not breeding it next year.
~ when you cannot afford any more Nightmare pedestals, purchase Pharaoh pedestals ~
1. Pharaoh pedestal (180 Candy) - 1:16667
~ when you cannot afford any more Pharaoh pedestals, purchase Thicket pedestals ~
2. Thicket pedestal (100 Candy) - 1:1500
Many thanks to MinyaZ for the calculations and list!
A few typos: Nightmare is 480 and Thickets are 1,000
MinyaZ is correct, Thicket’s pedestal is 100 Candy, not 1,000.
For Nightmare, you are correct, MinyaZ accidentally put 180 instead of 480. But she did have the amount correct just above the part you quoted. Here’s the entire section of the post.
Items with the best Candy to DC Exchange
When the event concludes, any left over event currency will be converted at the rate of 1 Candy to 1,000 DragonCash. However, if you purchase the following items and sell them for DC, you can receive a much greater return.

😭😱 I wasn’t feeling well so I went to bed last night and completely forgot to use my candy at the market… I can’t believe it… I woke up two hours after Market closed in horror…

This is my nightmare. I try to spend event currency early, but it always ends up last minute.
So sorry this happened to you, NinjaKiwi! 😢

It was a fight to the finish, but with the roll of a twenty-sided dice, Dortal portal-ed to the top. Kage slipped into second and Rotblossom quickly caught him for a second place tie. With cool confidence and gigantic strides, Vampir stilt walked into third and took the bronze.
Whitbee’s Candy Bash IX: XI Hsab Ydnac S’eebtihw long since ended and this thread will be locked soon. The candy corn has been devoured and now there’s a new craving for something more hearty and harvested…

I really loved the story adlerist wrote for the intro of the limited Candy Bash dragons. It was a continuous story that covered the entire event. I put all the intros together so the whole story can be read in full (I think I got the quote button right lol).
Whitbee was casting spells by the Darken Dunes when one went sideways and uncovered the portal to an upside down, inside out, backwards reflecting dimension. At first, Whitbee was unsure if he should reverse his spell to hide the portal. But curiosity overwhelmed him, and he cautiously entered. He was immediately greeted by BROOD with such an angered and lamenting force, he fell back. Brood had been standing by the portal entry for well over a century, longing to pass through. But there was always something beyond him, underneath and on the other side; something upside down and batty that beckoned him back and denied him the ability to cross over.
In the Upside Down, Whitbee discovered there was not much light or plant life, except night crawling vines that whipped at his feet, barren trees that resembled blackened skeletons, and dried dead flowers. As he passed through a withered garden, he suddenly smelled a floral scent. Upon closer inspection, he realised the flowers were moving and very much alive. Suddenly, with a furious twist, ROTBLOSSOM rose twenty feet high from the garden, turned its head, and emitted a piercing screech that flooded the night. The floral air instantly turned into a choking dust of ash. Never had Whitbee run so fast.
Whitbee realised he needed to leave the Upside Down, but he was lost and backwards. To the left, there was a trail that appeared worn and used. He followed it and in a short while it led to a small, dilapidated shack. Before knocking on the door, he peered through an open window and saw AMALGAMATE putting itself together. Attaching bones, melding muscle, and burnishing skin, Amalgamate was merging into itself. Whitbee decided it was probably best to not enter the shack, and in the low light of the late evening, he silently sped down the trail.
Whitbee was lost again in the darkness and night. He couldn’t find the portal to return back to the Vale. The landscape looked the same in every direction for miles. For the first time ever, he would miss Halloween in the Vale. He did not see KAGE, who was standing beside him, as his shadow. Kage flapped his gigantic wings into a butterfly effect. Startled, Whitbee gasped at the size of this dragon. Kage picked Whitbee up and flew high above the Upside Down. From the dragon’s eye view, he could see the Upside Down was actually the Vale — a dark and desolate, reverse replica of his home. He finally knew where he was, and how to find his way to the portal. Kage returned Whitbee to the ground. Whitbee watched as the enormous dragon flew off and merged into the night’s secrets. He may have missed most of his Candy Bash event, but Whitbee could not wait to tell the others about his Halloween adventure.
For weeks, the Vale dragons had been looking for Whitbee. When he suddenly appeared in the Knoll Meadows, they quickly gathered around him.
'Whitbee, where have you been? Halloween is almost here and Candy Bash is practically over!' exclaimed Dracabra.
Whitbee was exhausted, but enthusiastically told everyone about his adventures in the Upside Down. He tried his best to describe the portal, the dragons, and the reversed, darkened Vale.
The Vale dragons did not look amused.
'I knew you wouldn’t believe me,' said Whitbee. 'I can hardly believe it myself! So, I brought something to show you'.
From his hat, Whitbee pulled a small spore. He set it down, and it immediately consumed the grass around it and started to grow. Within a minute, the spore had devoured the ground around the dragons; they quickly moved so they wouldn’t be consumed as well. The spore was no longer a spore. It had grown and inflated into a gigantic creature. HYDNELLUM lifted himself from the meadow floor, stretched his wings, and pulled his face towards the moon to encourage the night. The dragons gasped in horror and delight.
sylviasylvester Thank you for putting adlerist's intros together as one post. It is an beautifully told story of Whitbee's thrilling adventures in the Upside Down. 🙃
