That is a fair point (although I don't think having Mesmerus available to buy would make the game less interesting).
I still think they should re-release it for a day or two, though, so that everyone has an equal chance to get it; it's really not that hard to rectify the unintended release of Mesmerus. I just think, given how simple it would be to re-release Mesmerus to make it fair for everyone who missed it, they should do. By the looks of things they aren't going to.
I did work out a plan that means I can get Mesmerus in my main account. It costs 24.6k EC since I don't have Mesmer, and I might not be able to get two large Omnitats that I wanted, but whatever. They'll come back at some point. But I'm stubborn, so I will be buying Mesmerus this time around, even if it gives DECA exactly what they wanted. I certainly won't be spending money on any EC though.
Maybe most of my annoyance is more at myself than DECA anyway. I really am kicking myself for not getting Mesmerus when I saw it; there was no reason for me to wait, and me waiting led to bad consequences. It's ironic that I wasted time asking whether it would stay for the whole event... If I hadn't done I'd have been able to get it. Now I have to spend an extra 15,050 EC, an entire WEEK'S worth of saving. 🙄
The whole situation is so annoying. Nomnoter's ugly design (Lovesick's too) and Dragons' Week's stupid placement haven't helped. Given the fact that the original intention was for Mesmerus to be a fifth unbreedable dragon, AND that they weren't going to let us buy it directly, they really should NOT have started Dragons' Week when they did.
[Removed the questions I asked, because they were answered, twice, and I don't feel like having loads of people answering it like what's happened on SEVERAL occasions when I've asked questions before]

Can I check: as far as we know, will the evolution decorations stay till the end of the event? From what I remember the chest doesn't have a timer, but I honestly don't trust DECA not to just remove it with no warning now. (Hopefully me asking doesn't jinx it again! 😂😖)
Also, I haven't got a golden chest from a mini game yet... Any updates on whether or not it's possible to get the Idols of Hypnosis from them?
based on what adlerist said, the idols are not able to be gotten from golden chest, only bought from event store.

Yes, the decorations will stay until the event concludes. I posted the info yesterday.
PSA: Deca’s announcement regarding Mesmerus’ disappearance from the event market
To be clear, the Evolution Chest of Beauty that contains Mesmerus’ evolve decos will remain for the duration of the event, despite being in the Limited tier of the event market.
Also, I haven't got a golden chest from a mini game yet... Any updates on whether or not it's possible to get the Idols of Hypnosis from them?
The decorations are not in the mini games. I asked Deca early yesterday after Mesmerus’ release, and they confirmed. See the bold text at the bottom of this post. It’s also noted on Nomnoter’s announcement post that I published at reset.
If there’s an update or change from Deca regarding Mesmerus, I’ll let everyone know. Thanks for your patience.
Congratulations, again and again and again, HOTSAUCECHICKEN!
In a plot twist, Deca created a dragon, and hotsaucechicken recreated a dragon based on the Deca dragon, then Deca recreated a dragon based on the recreated dragon hotsaucechicken created from their dragon. 🤪
We have officially come full circle and entered a new timeline. And Mesmer is better off for it.
Mesmer dragon by Deca Games
Mesmer redesign by hotsaucechicken
Mesmerus dragon by Deca Games
This is the first design Deca has added to the Vale that is based on one of their dragons, and it’s also the first time a dragon has been added that did not originate from the Community Design Contest. Hotsaucechicken posted the redesign on Reddit last year, after Mesmer’s release.
Mesmerus is an evolution dragon with Mesmer as the base dragon. Collect all ten Idol of Hypnosis decorations to evolved Mesmer into Mesmerus, or simply buy him from the market.
MESMERUS DRAGON
Breeding hint: evolve from Mesmer (cannot be bred) Incubation time: 30 hours Habitats: Aura Contributing elements: plant, fire, earth, cold, lightning, air Cloning percentages: 0% (Mesmerus + Mesmerus = 20%)
IMPORTANT: Mesmerus’ evolve decorations are NOT in the mini games. You must buy its decos from the Evolution Chest of Beauty or buy Mesmerus from the event market. I’ve notified Deca of this problem, since Mesmerus cannot be bred or single-parent cloned.

Cool. I was only asking about the decos because that second post you quoted was posted before Mesmerus was removed (or at least before we knew the removal was an intentional decision on DECA's part), and it's odd that the chest is still in the limited category. I didn't know whether DECA might have been slightly kind to us and given us the option to get the decos from the golden chests since we now can't buy Mesmerus directly. Thanks for confirming.
Though I do still enjoy the game, I will admit that from the more recent decisions, DECA seems like it's trying to squeeze every last penny out of the players. Though it's been especially bad for the last two or three months, they first started pulling some of these devious decisions a couple of years ago.
In chronological order, these are the worst offenders:
Dragon Draw. It was originally introduced a couple of years ago as an alternative way for players to get new dragons. However, in truth it is just a deceitful way to get more in-app purchases, since as you already know, it is essentially a raffle. For free-to-play players to win a dragon draw is extremely hard, especially due to the 50 free soul shard caps, the low payout of shards per day, and the fact that most dragons take multiple thousands of shards to complete. On top of that, the very first time Dragon Draw was released, it was so buggy that the developers had to remove the feature within an hour, which also resulted in the softlock of a lot of players. It took OVER A YEAR for the bugs from the initial release to be resolved, and until then, players like myself who were lucky enough to get the Summoning Circle before its removal could do absolutely nothing with it. In conclusion, let me say that if DECA releases an unfinished, buggy feature, especially considering the concept of the draw, it makes them really seem like they are just in for the money.
Eggy Hatchy. Released for the very first Camp DragonVale event, Eggy Hatchy has become a staple to certain events. However, the whole ticket system involved with it screams for in-app purchases and want for more money. But the worst part about it was that, for the first couple of events in which Eggy Hatchy could be played, there were levels that were NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE. As a result, players often wasted their tickets, and money, trying to complete this level on a tower which literally is unable to be completed. This problem was originally so bad that DECA had to tone down the difficulty, and ended up giving 5 tickets to every player upon the fix of the issue. At least it has been better lately, though it still is a zone for money.
New evolution dragons. The release of Umbra, and now Mesmerus, were critical points for EC purchases. The largest difference between then and now is that when Umbra was released, it could be directly purchased rather than evolved, though the price of the Umbra Dragon was MORE THAN BUYING ALL THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO BUY IT (it was about 17,000EC)... especially considering that the Scout Dragon had been featured for two consecutive events. Mesmerus, however, has more expensive decorations than Umbra's, AND also cannot be purchased in the market anymore. Oh, what a want for money.
And lastly, the Offerwall. Let's just say that I REALLY HATE THE FEATURE. It just screams for DECA to find a cheap way to get more money. In fact, the Offerwall was the reason why I quit playing Dragon City. It's full of scams, you don't get the gems half the time, and quite a few of the 'offers' require you to spend money in a different game-and of the free offers, you're either time crunched for the reward, or will receive very few gems. I can go on and on about why I hate the feature. When it was released, I posted my entire rant on the DragonVale subreddit, and if you want to view it, here is the link.
Okay, my salty rant is done. I needed to get that out.
I would like to mention that DV is pretty much the only phone game I even /know of/ that allows players *to get every event item* for free.
Yes, it's only "free in theory". However, that is still an anomaly I can't understate.
VIP tiers are the norm nowadays, as is very limited special currency you need to save up to buy your way through an event. Per way of analogy, image event currency were to be abolished and everything now costs gems.
Additionally, we are now in non-stop ranked events where the prize is resources.
In these events, you earn orbs which permanently increase a dragons breeding chances for event releases. Also, they let you earn up to 1000 e in rift habitats. Have you earn +1% more dragoncash with each event title... title only purchaseable through gems.
Did I mention the PvP events? No? How about guilds?
DV is incredibly special. Yes, we're getting more incentives to spend money -- but unless you're willing to drop thousands, it's not worth it. A game truly looking to milk you will make every $ count.
Dragonvale has no strong strategies of fishing for your wallet. This is not hyperbole. However, what is going on is that its players are not used to even the possibility of missing *one* event dragon. I will be honest with you. That is because we've been spoiled to all hell.
I am sad to see DECA go in the direction they're headed for, but... it's not the apocalypse yet. Event in its current state, it is *the* top game for free to play. That is no small achievement
Sigh. Apologies for double posting, but just... In another game I play, people have been saving since November for an event in MARCH.
Because, in that event, special skins drop which are heinously expensive. As well as upgrades which are analogous to a +% income to dragoncash.
Normally, you can get through an event with 8 000-20 000 event points and have everything you want. That's about 6 000 - 12 000 special currency. The one in march? 80 000. That's right, 80 000, after one in January which could have easily eaten 20 000 - 40 000 of your currency... followed immediately by a valentines event!
All of these purchases are only optional, of course. Aesthetics or boosting your performance in ranked events. Strengthening your combat build, too... at least in march.
Being an older player is, about two years in, nothing. About one year in, it stops being a *struggle*.
DV? You better have rifted this one event dragon 3 years back or you're going to have a tough time. That's what I like the least about DV. You can't ever skip an event without it coming to bite you in the dargon.
However, as sins of monetization go, please behold... /This/
In response to the confusion with Mesmerus’ removal from the event market, the price of Mesmer has been lowered from 13,600 Roses to 10,000 Roses.
Mesmerus will not be returning to the event market, and its evolve decorations will not be added to the mini game chests. I know this is not the result players wanted. Sorry about that. We really, really tried to get the decorations added to the mini games and/or Mesmerus restored to the Bouquet tier. Deca is aware of the feedback from players. Thank you everybody for your comments.

So I just learned something about the Mesmer/Mesmerus Dragon today...
You know that place called "Lemnos" mentioned in its description? Well, it's actually a real place. Lemnos is a Greek island located in the Aegean Sea. And in mythology, it is said to be the home of Hephaestus, the Greek god of blacksmithing. If you want to learn more about it, here is a wikipedia article about Lemnos.
Apparently, Lemnos isn't part of the dreamworld after all...

Dear Members Don’t be offended, but I wanted to say something I try to read everything you write; my english is not very good so i'm not going to write a novel BUT i just wanted to say: don't be too hard on DECA because if our game still exists it's thanks to them. When you are missing a dragon you can always use a wish (or the dragon will eventually arrive on its own in a daily reward) I have been playing for over ten years and have always managed to get all the dragons without spending any money, so nothing is impossible. 😉 if it was too easy to have all the dragons don't you think that the game would be less interesting? Again I don’t want to upset anyone, just say what I think 😊
Thank you for reminding us that if Deca hadn't taken DragonVale over from Backflip Studios, there would be no DragonVale to play today.
Yes, Deca make the occasional mistake (Mesmerus release) and they may occasionally do things that irritate some of us (Dragons Week during an event being the latest complaint).
But, Deca have created some amazing dragons for us and have included some fabulous fan-inspired dragons. Not all the designs appeal to all of us, but that's why we are all different - so are the dragons. 🐉
And Deca have 'employed' (I believe the perks are out of this world!) Game Reps and have shown that they are willing to listen and make adjustments to events, or include forgotten dragons. Dropping the event price of Mesmer and finally releasing Carnival being the two most recent cases.
I think what we have to be thankful for (Dragonvale still running) outweighs any upset that we may feel about mistakes Deca make or decisions made that some of us don't like.
I'm not trying to upset anyone either, but I think we are losing sight of a very important point.

Deca have kept DragonVale running.
I will admit that even though some of DECA's recent decisions may not have been the greatest, we should certainly be grateful that DragonVale did not come to an end when Backflip shut down.
And honestly, most of the dragons released in the past year have actually been better than usual, with maybe the exceptions of Mesmer and PonkiPong. Besides, even though I hate the Lovesick dragon very much, it's derpy self is admirable for quite a few players.

I actually quite like PonkiPong 😳 something about it/them makes me want to poke the nearest squishy thing and go “Boinggg”
But yes, I want to join the general love and support for Deca. They don’t always get it right and like I said, Dragons Week + Mesmerus is A Choice, but I can appreciate that they need to keep the game funded somehow! This was perhaps not the best way and hopefully these learnings will be factored into future decisions. It doesn’t mean I’m abandoning this game; Red Fire will come again

Oh, I didn’t realise you posted the price change, thanks. I posted quickly about the updates, but I haven’t had a chance to go through the threads until now. Deca updated Mesmer at reset, but we were still trying to convince them to add Mesmerus to the market or the decos to the mini games. After four hours, it didn’t look like they’d change their mind, so I went ahead and posted the news on the Forum, Discord, and Reddit.
I know it’s disappointing, but at least the next time Mesmerus returns, he’ll be in the event market.

Deca have kept DragonVale running.
Thank you for these understanding and thoughtful posts!
I’d also like to give thanks to players who make in-app purchases. There’s been some talk recently about not buying anything, not supporting a mobile game, and even boycotting.
It costs money to operate DragonVale. If no-one made any purchases then there’s no game for anyone to play. We pay money for our tv cable bill, when we go to the movies, when we see a play, when we go to a sports venue, when we attend a concert, etc. A mobile game is no different. It’s another source of entertainment and making a purchase helps to ensure it survives. We all play DV, enjoy it, and care about the game, so it has proved its value to us. That makes it worth supporting.
Players may not like that Deca needs ads, Offerwall, lots of new content, and constant events, but if Deca can’t make enough money, there’s no DV. I have yet to see a mobile game that doesn’t encourage microtransactions, because that’s how developers pay the bills. DragonVale is one of the few games that doesn’t have new content behind paywalls, so you’re never forced to make a purchase if you want to collect everything.
I always spend a little money on games that I play to show a little love, and hope it helps to keep the game running. These days, I only buy Runestones, so I’m always really appreciative and impressed by players who buy event currency, like obijuan, grandpakenny, and many others. I know that’s helping to keep the doors open so I can continue to visit the Vale.

Thank you so very much, kaitykat, @ney, and okelani! This is the pinkest, most delicious paper-eater ever! And Ney, you bred two Nomnoter twins? Now I know why there’s a 2 after your DV name — it stands for twins twice! Ruby gems and nom treats have been delivered to everyone’s parks (Ney, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to send you more). To clarify for me please….🧐 1. If we want mesmerus we have to evolve him from a mesmer dragon 2. To evolve a mesmer to a mesmerus we need 10 decos 3. We have to buy the 10 decos in the event market 4. Each purchase of a deco is guaranteed to be one we do not have yet (so the max we have to spend is 1,000 x 10)
There, think that covers what i am unsure about 👍🏻😃 Thanks 😃

Yes. However, there is a very rare bug where the game doesn't recognize you have a deco. Avoid through: 1. Buy chest 2. Place item in park 3. Buy chest 4. Place that item in park 5. ...
Keep in mind that when you have only one Mesmer, you can just keep trying to clone it after the event is over. No need to spend an extra 10k to buy a base for Mesmerus.

The answers to all of these is yes, besides the fact that there is an additional cost of evolution (1000 EC so 11k EC total) and an additional cost for Mesmer if you don't have a spare one (so 21k EC total).
If you want to use EC most effectively, wait till next year, when Mesmerus will hopefully be available to buy and its deco presumably available in golden chests (no guarantee on either of these things though, so if you want to guarantee you definitely get Mesmerus, get its deco this event).
You can evolve for gems during an event by buying games on double days.
20 games = 100 gems. 60EC/game average = 1 200 EC 80EC/game = 1 600 EC
Still costs just sightly less than the large omnitats 😅
I can devote all my time to rifted Mesmer after Dragon week at least thanks to getting Classical cloned.
Might only get one of two large omnitats this event. I only stayed for the omnitats. Since I wouldn't have that currency at all without that goal, I'm not wasting anything. Might warp my perspective.
