Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!
Please excuse the Newbie, but i would like to make a suggestion. On the Chatterbox it says: <<Welcome to the Chatterbox! Feel free to post off-topic conversations, random questions, and games here. If you have questions related to DV, please post them on their corresponding threads. Thank you!>>
i have noticed that i am not the only one to misunderstand just what the Chatterbox section is for. <<Random questions>> of many kinds appear to be automatically re-directed. The suggestion to <<post them on their corresponding threads>> has no meaning for anyone who is very new or a first-time visitor. We ask because we do not know and the Chatterbox is RIGHT THERE on every page! i don't have the answers but i do have the question ... would it be possible to reword the opening statement? It's so easy to see that and start typing for some of us.
i noticed the new link to the <<General DragonVale>> thread and started cheering so loudly that my husband came running! SUPER GREAT START! Perhaps that could be posted right on the top of the page to be seen before typing starts. Thank you for your consideration.

Having a link to General DragonVale is definitely a good idea.
I believe it is possible to remove the Chatterbox altogether but my guess is the forum staff don't want to do that, especially as it is the only thing available on every page so if someone who is new to the forum is lost, that can be the place they go to.
OH, no! Don't even think of removing the Chatterbox! It could be sooo easy to label it correctly! i have been planning on playing some of the games and they appear to be quite popular. Just putting the link to the General DragonVale thread right at the top alone would be a HUGE step in the right direction!
One Idea off the top of my muddled head ... <<Mainly for games and short, quick postings; the Chatterbox may be used to ask "where" to post detailed questions as needed for new members and/or visitors.>>
Remember, i'm not good at quick thinking under pressure but does that help you understand where i'm coming from?

I know what you meant, I wasn't suggesting they should remove the Chatterbox. Just that I'm pretty sure that is something that is possible (especially now everything it was used for has its own specific thread). But that might end up doing more harm than good, since, as I mentioned and as you mentioned, it's useful for members who are lost on the forum. (Though at the moment I believe guests cannot post on it.)
Nice idea about a place for guests to post. Is that even possible? i do believe i would have emerged from lurking years sooner if that had been available.

Guests can post in the Rate a Dragon threads and the Friends Centre board; other than that, I don't believe they can post anywhere on the forum. From memory of the post about it, it was due to the fact that it was harder to prevent/solve possible issues if guests could post.
Whoa! Thanks for sharing that. i had no idea that so much is open. That seems very unusual. That said, there are a lot more people monitoring things here than anywhere else i have ever visited. i definitely feel very safe here!

Not from this event, there's going to be (at least) one more. You can tell by how many days of the event left there are. There's still two and a bit weeks left of the event, meaning there's time for one more limited after this one. You can also tell by how many combos there are on the Upcoming Combos section of the event thread. Though being part of the Spoiler Group would also be useful

The questions that are occasionally posted on the Chatterbox do not always belong on this thread. Frequently, it’s related to the event or a bug.
Sometimes people don’t see the header on the Chatterbox, so they post DV questions. Other people feel more comfortable posting in a chat box because it’s a familiar format. Unfortunately, rewording the header won’t change that. Players will still post DV and Forum questions on it. And we don’t mind at all. In fact, we prefer and encourage it, because we can redirect them to the correct thread. It’s much better to have players post on the Chatterbox and respond with a link to a thread than to not have them post at all. And since a chat box is more familiar and comfortable for members who have never posted, they will likely gravitate to the Chatterbox.
The Chatterbox will probably be revised in the future as we weigh different options and ideas from the admins and mods. Thanks for the input!

Thank you for listening and for the clear, detailed explanation. It really helps to understand the "why" of things! There is so much to learn and i appreciate the help. :)
What are the sizes of the Pylons of Dark Rift Remnants and Fulmination? (The Wiki doesn't have anything and since they cost gems I can't check.) Thanks!

Something potentially cool I realised, unless my maths is all wrong anyway 😂
I have wondered whether DECA is releasing new dragons at a fast pace compared to Backflip due to the constant events right from when they took over, but I worked out the rates and unless I messed up a calculation they're pretty much exactly the same - to a scarily high degree. Like, "maybe-DECA-intentionally-did-that" level exactly.
Backflip designed 575 dragons (according to the dragons release wiki page) and if we take April 7th as the last day of Backflip designs that's 3124 days since DV was released, 3124/575 = 1 dragon every 5.4330435 days (correct to 7dp) So far DECA has designed 203 dragons and if we take April 9th as the first day of DECA designs that's 1103 days since DECA released their first design (Woodvine), 1103/203 = 1 dragon every 5.4334975 days (correct to 7dp)
So the average days per dragon rate is the exact same to 3 decimal places. Forget not being completely different, they're basically the exact same. Unless DECA actually planned that, that's crazy. And even if they did, it's cool that it worked out with their structure of events. (Come to think of it, maybe that's why they have events with an incredibly high number of new releases... 🤔)
It would be cool to know whether DECA planned that. A question for the next AMA perhaps!
Uuuunleeeeeesssss my calculations are majorly wrong, which would not surprise me.
I think that for a more accurate calculation, I would exclude permanent dragons, as a good chunk of Backflip-designed dragons were permanent. Especially in the first couple years, nearly every dragon released was permanent.

While they did have a lot of hybrids, there was definitely a bunch of limiteds as well - panlong, the gemstones, and my beloved blue moon come to mind, as well as Clover, Love, and Bone

I reading comments from people who either say they posted in the “wrong” thread, or comments that posts were moved because they were in the wrong thread. As a new member it sort of puts a damper on posting any time I’m not sure where it belongs.

Hi gkvale! Don't worry too much about it! 1. It's not the end of the world if you get the wrong place, our friendly staff will redirect if necessary 2. If you're confused, this is the perfect thread to put your questions

We do move posts if they are off-topic to the thread. For example, if someone is looking for friends and posts their Friend ID on the event thread, we’ll move it to the Friend ID thread. There are a couple of reasons why we do this. (1) It keeps the threads relevant, so players who are looking for event updates do not have to scroll through posts unrelated to the event. (2) It helps the poster and the readers who are seeking information on the topic, in this case adding friends. Players looking for friends can quickly find them on the Friend ID thread and won’t miss a stray post on the event thread.
It’s rare when we move posts. The last time was about three weeks ago when I moved a couple of posts to the Bugs and Glitches thread. Since it occurs so infrequently, members should not feel discouraged about posting. Please understand that moving posts is necessary and regularly practised on all forums to stay organised. It appears recently some people may believe it’s a reprimand and that we’re upset or scolding them. I’m not sure how this came about, but that is not how the admins and mods feel. We’re only moving your post to help you and other members. It’s no trouble, we’re happy to do it, and we most certainly do not expect everyone to know where to post. If you’re not sure which thread is best, post your query, and it will be moved, if necessary. Cheers and thank you for your feedback.
PS, Please note the Cooperative Requests thread is different from all the others. We remove expired and old posts frequently. The concept of this thread is to keep it up to date with only open requests. So it will not be more than a couple of pages long and it will be easy for players to see which dragons are requested or are available in the co-op. It is a unique thread.

The page notes that old posts are supposed to be archived after a week unless still active, although oftentimes it is much less often than once per week.

The posts that are to stay for a week are the requests that have not been fulfilled. After a request is fulfilled, it’ll be removed, and so will conversations. The idea of the thread is that posts are open / active requests, because there’s no point in having a 50-page thread filled with expired co-op requests.
We’ll spell out everything later, and we’ll likely make changes to the accounts that are tracked on the first post. The staff is still hammering out the details.
