It’s been a long time since there was an Origin Contest! I remember the first one. This contest is my fave for sure. I love hearing about the origins of the dragons. I’ll give it a try, thanks for the reminder. I def would’ve forgot.
Today is another Double Day. Deca didn't close the Bonus Runic Cave when they removed the Triple RBC. It has been a weekend of bonuses. 😉

It sure would be nice if DECA would add a few more Ornamental habitats into the event market. They keep adding Ornamental dragons, but for some reason seem to refuse to add more Ornamental habitats. It has literally been years since we’ve gotten any additional habitats. And for comparison, the game has 10 Surface dragons along with 12 habitats to keep them in. Contrast that with the 33 Ornamental dragons and the stingy 12 habitats to keep them in. I don’t want to be uncharitable, but it almost seems mean-spirited the way they have withheld Ornamental habitats. adlerist, I suspect you have probably requested some from DECA in the past, but I just wanted to make sure that they have been made aware of this shortage. Where is their holiday spirit of giving?

The Ornamental habitats were increased from 7 to 12 during the Season of Goodiness, end of 2021. I would also love some more Ornamental habitats, but now that the Snowflake habitats can house dragons with the cold element I'm going to put some Ornamental dragons in there. Holds the same number of dragons and a large Snowflake habitat holds more DC.

I asked Deca to raise the Ornamental Habitat limit to 12 in 2021 on behalf of the Forum, and they raised it. I wouldn’t call them 'mean-spirited' for not upping it again. Habitat limits are usually changed at the request of players through the Game Reps. There haven't been a lot of players complaining about a lack of Ornamental Habitats. I can ask Deca to raise the limit again, but I don’t know if it’ll be done several weeks into the event.

Not event decorations, it was the big and huge trees (both the ones you remove and the ones in the market) that were snow-tipped, if I recall correctly. The small trees also went orange or something else odd, but it was mainly the biggg trees

Sigh. It happened. I just noticed that there are two dragons in my box from the runic breeding caves— a rift tree and molten that I certainly don’t need. I’m not one to pay money into dragonvale, so I’m not sure how or when exactly this happened. I wasn't getting wonderful breedings and normally don’t collect until the end, so wasn't really paying too much attention— was just happy that my caves were up and running. I didn’t lose my egg history, so that’s good I suppose. Going to open a ticket now.

Usually, when the bug affects a park the event basically ends: event island disappears, no RBCs, no Egg History, and the RBC eggs are auto-selected. Is the Claim button still active at the RBCs? If so, you may not have the bug or a very watered-down version of it.

The event disappearing / RBC closing bug appears to be fixed now. Deca released a fix on Friday. However, the Egg History, closed caves, and claims have not been restored yet.

Sorry, I certainly don’t mean to disparage anyone. It’s just that, by my style of play, there haven’t been enough Ornamental habitats for many years, even going back to the BFS days. I like to display an adult and a baby of each epic and rare dragon and there have pretty much never been enough Ornamental habitats to allow me to do that. And I don’t have that problem with any of the other epic dragons.
Perhaps I don’t understand the philosophy behind limiting certain habitats. Is there something that is bad for the game that can result from people being able to buy a lot of certain types of habitats? And even accepting that there is a reason behind it that I am not aware of, why limit it to 12 habitats when there are 33 Ornamental dragons. It doesn’t seem like a stretch to assume that when the limit was raised in 2021, that some people would have bought all 12 and filled them up. So when you continue to add new Ornamental dragons each year, it would maybe make sense to add more habitats to accommodate them.
But perhaps I’m just too into my way of playing the game. Am I the only one who likes to display 2 of each dragon? This doesn’t include basic hybrids because there just isn’t enough space for all of them and I had to draw the line somewhere. But now we’re getting into not having enough islands, which is another long-standing pet peeve of mine. Enough griping for now…

Turns out it was Christmas 2012 when BFS snowed all the obstacles. The Snowy Bush in the Event Market is the same version as they had then, I'd love to get the Snowy version of the Big Tree

The Ornamental Habitats got a little behind because Backflip created many ornamental dragons and didn’t raised the cap. It wasn't until we requested an increase with Deca that the limit was gradually doubled.
For most limited habitats, there’s always been restrictions on how many players can own. These habitats usually have higher DC caps, so Backflip likely wanted to balance the game and ensure players logged in regularly. And in some cases, it can also make the habitat seem more special. If Deca decides to remove habitat caps, they would need to run the numbers and be sure it doesn't negatively affect the game.
Deca has raised habitat limits when we request it. They don’t do it every single time, but they’ve been remarkably responsive. I know players want Deca to do everything automatically without players needing to say anything. But it’s actually really good for Deca to receive player feedback, not just on habitats, but everything else in the game. So this process has been very effective and strengthens the communication between players and Deca. As a result, habitat limits are generally increased when reps request it on behalf of the community. But this is not exclusive, sometimes Deca will raise a cap without player input.
The lack of islands is a long-standing problem that I’ve discussed at length in the past. I know you were around and part of those discussions, so I won’t go into it again. Do not fret, the reps are still pushing for multiple standard islands in the EE.

I've just used my last two claims on Twin Combustion and Twin Quintessence – I figure at least I'll save the time/gems on breeding and incubating two long timer dragons next Twin Weekend, not to mention the fails!

Getting a bit frustrated now coz this is costing loads of iceberries…… I’m used to the game closing occasionally when I use Tolzars to watch an ad…I do use my iPhone and I know we’re the ones that generally get an issue with that… but I only watch them during double days to boost my berries count as a cheeky bonus 300 berries from watching 3 ads is great! But as of 2 days ago EVERY time I watch an ad, no matter which ad, the game automatically closes at the end of the ad and I get no berries. Finally gave up this morning after the 6th!! attempt to watch. This is so frustrating as like I said- I’m missing 300 berries as it’s double day!!

I doubt I'll be able to breed Toboggan before it leaves although I really want to, but I did finally manage to clone Grandeur 😁 I really like this event's dragons so I was pretty eager to try and clone the three clone-onlies early on.
