Gah, event bug hit my park too. I’d just successfully cloned both the shaper and grandeur dragons, shaper is incubating and grandeur in the coop still. Luckily I have screenshots of their existence in my park because now the event has disappeared. Oh well off to raise a ticket and hope that my dragons, EC, and event breeding caves are returned to my park.
ETA My dragons are still cloning and incubating, phew but my second runic cave and breeding history has suffered the fate of everyone else’s. Lots of gremlins running around DV these days
2nd ETA I logged back in and now I have 3 dragons from the RBC’s in my gifts that weren’t there before. None of which I would have chosen at then end of the event, also none of them are Motley that others are reporting they get when the bug hits their park.

I’m thinking I’ll cash some berries in but wanted to know, is one Snowflake better than others? What are your favourites for a first purchase? I’ve got my eyes on Snowflake 7…

You will need to buy two Snowflake dragons. Or, if you have a friend that has one in co-op, you can breed with their one. Once you have two you can breed the rest. Snowflake + Snowflake can give you any Snowflake dragon. (Same with Monolith 1-6 dragons)

2. I was wondering if there was any word about the Surface habitats ? I know it’s not DECA’s main priority right now with the bugs going on, but just wondered. They are usually available in this event, but are neither in the event market nor the regular market.

FYI— My friend had the event islands DISAPPEAR after a forced reload at the end of the tutorial. She had two Motley dragons in her gifts and the bonus Runic cave was deactivated. 😭. She has made a support ticket!
Now my park has just done the same thing deactivating Runic caves and giving me Motleys. I’m not looking forward to dealing with support since they have yet to resolve the issues from the Halloween event and the Greenhouse event.
This happened to me also yesterday, the event came back but the bonus cave was deactivated and didn't have a claim available anymore. The game picked Regift dragons to send me which was at least funny. It would be nice if they gave us back our lost runic token, I got to use it for like a day before I lost it

Winter’s hourglass is not green, so it’s not breedable at the moment. I’m sure that will change on the 21st like you mentioned.

Very interesting since there are Surface dragons available. Should probably be brought to Deca’s attention if it hasn’t been already. Like you said, they are certainly busy trying to fix event issues, but the habitat could certainly be added into the market at the same time.

DC farming is only useful if you have the bandwidth to play often enough to collect it. I’m enjoying the snowflake habitats simply because they look awesome and are a nice change of pace on my Christmas islands. But I envy people who do the DC farming thing - I just can’t bring myself to play that often!

I think my berry stash has been halved from when I was last in my parks a couple of hours ago. I have sent DECA a report for each park and will update on the outcome. Has anyone else noticed this?
There are reports of the event island disappearing along with the Runic Breeding Caves (the event ends and the player receives Motley eggs), and there are reports of the event island and Gemstone Island merging, when that happens, players can’t earn EC. But that latter bug was resolved earlier. Deca is still keeping an eye on it.
I haven’t heard about players only missing a portion of their EC.
I have received a reply from DECA saying between 14 and 15 December the berry count was correct and so they could not compensate me. I have written back saying the query is not between 14th and 15th December, but between first and second visit on 15 December. I think they are overrun with problems at the moment 😠

But with the gremlins wrecking havoc in this event, I have already used all the claims in the three caves that we've had available. They were dragons that I had missed out getting with a trait during an event, so I was always going to pick them.

I've also got Igluit (just a normal version) and I'm currently working towards getting a twin-traited Melancholy in my quest to breed Lovonone next event.

I haven't yet, but I will be. One of my parks has 9 cold habitats! I might keep 1, but I think swapping them for Snowflake habitats is a great idea. And I can put some dragons like Sugarmitten and Everfrost who don't like the harmonious habitat they are in, into a habitat more to their liking.
I'm not sure if it was changed after the event started, but the Snowflake Reward habitats also hold dragons with a cold element.
Nacre and Tien make the same amount with boosts, so if you have 2 x Tiens you can make a Tien DC farm. Tien does not have the cold element, so would need to go into an Omnitat or other habitat.
There is a Dragon Earning Rates with Boosts table on the Wiki. Due to 'BFS maths' (special rounding 😉), both Nacre and Tien earn 3000 DC a minute with all the boosts applied.
A large Omnitat is probably a better habitat for them as it can hold a higher amount of DC, so you don't need to visit your park so often, but Omnitats hold a large variety of dragons and players may not want to tie them up with Tien/Nacre dragons.

Did I misunderstand something? Should I switch to breeding Tien or Nacre?
You didn’t misunderstand anything. MinyaZ is referring to the highest DC earners in the game. Nacre and Tien have always earned the most, but it was not possible to create a DC farm because there wasn’t a habitat for them that allowed DC farming. Their best use is at the Colosseum. That’s now changed with the Snowflake habitat and Nacre having the cold element.
Iden and Ocular were the top dragons for DC farms with element boosts. But Nacre with just two boosts in the Snowflake Habitat is now better than Iden and Ocular. I’ll update the DC Farms post when I have a chance.
This doesn’t make Iden or Ocular obsolete. It all depends on how frequently you check your park and how much DC you need. If you check every two hours, then you may earn a noticeable amount of more DC every day. If you check 2-4 times a day, it might not be worth changing all your Oculars into Nacres.
I still have my Bogberry farm, and it was outpaced by Iden years ago. I never switched to Iden or Ocular because it wasn't worth it; Bogberry made plenty. I’ll probably change my Bogberrys to Nacres because it’s enough of a difference, and I adopted a new goal of reaching a trillion DC. But if I didn't have the DC goal, I would retain the Bogberry farm because it earns more DC than I'll ever be able to spend.

1. I asked for Winter to be added to the event market several times before the event started and during the first week, but it looks highly doubtful Deca will add it. Not sure why they can’t add Winter to the event every year. There are always lots of complaints when it’s not in the event market. It’ll be here on 21 December.
2. The Surface Habitats were supposed to be in the event, but there was an error, and they didn’t make it. They’ll likely be released today. Deca doesn’t work on Saturdays and Sundays, so there are never any weekend changes to the event market. Monday will be the earliest they can do anything.
3. Yes, I already changed all my giant Cold habitats to Snowflake habitats. And I’ve started the Nacre farm. ❄️🧊❄️

Oh boy. What a mess of an event this is turning out to be. Just caught the bug for the second time. What a drag! I don’t envy DECA for having to figure this one out and then have to figure out what to do to compensate all of the people who have lost things during the event. It appears to be very widespread.
It’s unfortunate because the only time I ever spend real money on DV is during events with the runic breeding caves in order to slowly get caught up on my traited dragon collection. But it’s really hard to spend money on caves when they almost certainly won’t be around for the full week that you pay for.
I do hope they can get this sorted out…

The ways to earn event currency (EC) vary from event to event. Earning EC from the Dragon Track and harvesting crops is part of the previous Om on Noms/harvest event; it’s never been part of the winter event. Check the first page of the event thread. The third post always has information on how to earn EC.

The bug hit me when I had paid for 7 runestones. I lost the extra cave that we were given at the beginning and all 6 I had activated. So…lost the chance at claiming 7 dragons, all the currency I would have made out of the extra caves, all my choices I had already bred, and out my money. I should have learnt my lesson last year when the bug hit me, but on a smaller scale and they never compensated me in any way or refunded money or runic stones. Oh well…rune stones once was one of the best things in the game. It is no longer reliable to get what you pay for.
They really need to quit pumping events out, and fix the problems. I also missed out on when the event island merged with gemstone island, and recently another event ended early for me. Neither of those times I was compensated. At least when Backflip was around if there was a mistake you were heavily compensated without even asking, and usually in a better place before the glitch, AND you got a pop up apology message.
I think my island needs a major koala cleanse because my luck keeps getting worse.
Tried for Shaper and got a 24 hour fail. Switched up and tried to clone Grandeur, got another 24 hour fail. Tried again and got 48 hour fail. That one is too expensive to speed up. I'll have to wait a while and maybe use Kairos to make it go faster.
Where have all my koalas gone? Are they on vacation for the holidays? 😭
I too have not gotten anything but a few 22 - 24 hour breeds. It is still early yet. Sending plane tickets for all the 🐨🐨🐨 who are sunning on the Paradise habitats to head back to your park. Packing 🍫🍫🍏🍏 for their snacks. 🐨🐨🐨🐨
The koalas are happy and well fed now, and have returned with gifts for the holidays. 🎁 🎄🎄 🎁
