OK everyone: so to clear up this shroud of confusion, I have sent every participant who has yet to report a Peridot a PM asking them to state whether they want to stay in the comp or withdraw. I will update the OP with that info as soon as I hear back.

Also, please check the list at the start of the thread to ensure you are marked correctly. I'm using this list to send my extra gems to currently to try to help facilitate everyone succeeding in breeding the peridot before it's gone.
My understanding of what myke has posted is that no one is ruled a cheater or booted from competition for previous actions, but should proceed from this point forward using both caves for peridot breeding (breeding the second pair of parents is also acceptable). This seems completely fair and shows much hard work on myke's part to find a good middle ground. In the end, this is for 45 gems for whoever comes in last place. So no point not abiding by the rules or being dishonest if anyone chooses to go for someone else out of frustration or desire. koala to all, and please post your success so at least I can focus sending my extra gems to those still trying to win this competition. Maybe we can have everyone get a peridot by the end of the week (nothing like an arbitrary deadline to kick start the procreation)

Current list shows 19 of the original 45 still in hunt for a peridot.
That means 26 have gotten it (or withdrawn somehow).
26/45 success rate within a week!!! That's pretty awesome when you think about it, but I'm still hoping (and perhaps even expecting) 45/45 by end of the month
I would be completely shocked if August 31 came around and the pot of gems hadn't been awarded yet.
And yes, you read that right, folks: I don't want to disqualify anyone, no one is a cheater. The only accusation one could label at anyone is "myke don't know how to write too clearly".

Congrats. Whittling our list down to 18 left for that peridot now... Maybe I miscounted, but appears to be 17 now.
Myke - what about adjusting the list so it lists those still hunting at the top of the list (with confirmed at the very top of that sub group maybe):

Count me still in as I am still bereft of a Peridot. I have been using both caves continuously. The first day I used a few gems to speed up a couple of short fails, but am running a comp with myself to see how long I can manage to not use any more. So far, I'm winning! Congrats to all those who have been lucky! I'm trying hard to keep my jealousy under control.

So let me get this right. So if you haven't been using both breeding spots then you're out??? That means that anyone that has an olympus is out! Cos as far as I know it's not one of the fails. If that's the case then I would be out even though I have constantly been trying - make a clear ruling on this please Myke

I got my Olympus bronze and golds before August 1st -- stopped breeding them and went full out with the Peridot, and went right back at it -- so it's possible to have the Olympus dragons while breeding Peridots in both places.
I'm still trying for my silver -- one is brewing just have to wait to find out if it's my silver!! But right now I have two bronze and two gold, plus both display eggs .... rolling the dice and praying a silver will pop up!

Is it cheating that I made the Olympus dragons my priority 1st?? Sorry if so, but I'm a happy camper - er, dragoner??! - now w/1 gold, 1 silver, a bronze and a bronze egg on display. So I went back to trying for Peridot, will let you know if I get any results

Also, myke clarified that no one is being disqualified from the competition,mas it was his inability to explain his intent (the rules) clearly. He's just asking everyone to abide by the rule of continuously using both caves for breeding the peridot (or it's parents if necessary) from now on.
