I agree that it's a lot of resources for not a lot of gain now that we don't need it to be able to level dragons beyond 15. I don't want to do the grind if it's not fun… but don't mind the idea of working my way up with dragons I'd already have (two of each, if I can) and a few of the 3&4 elements to fill it out. At this point in my game, both DC and gems are precious, but level 15 seems doable - especially for the dragons I'll use for breeding.
In any case, it looks like I don't have to have eleven Terradiem for the shines, so I can sell a couple of those and make room in the HC.
If anyone else is going to work toward gilding, I'd be happy to chat!
Edited to add this: I think I'm looking for a new goal to work towards or think about since some epic Panlong fails have slowed down my game significantly, and constantly breeding for the same dragon is becoming a bit frustrating. I'm now at 100 attempts.

Does anyone have an active list of which dragon makes the most DC in which habitat ? It would be greatly appreciated. After BEB I'm trying to eliminate the red earnings and turn that red into green! Thank you!! If you think the list isn't relevant to everyone please feel free to PM me. Many thanks!

It all depends on the combination of your habitats and elemental boosts and how you arrange them on your islands. So if you have a Panlong, and it has 3 boosts on the island, then it will be boosted 3 times. There is no best way to arrange things, it depends on the particular dragons that you have.
I had to make a spreadsheet to work out my arrangement. I worked out what boosts my dragons had, how many spaces in the habitats available, and then decided which island the habitats were going on. I used columns for each island, and allocated the boosts, then the dragons, taking care with negative boosts.
I hope this helps.
Edit: use the DV wiki, there is a page with all the earnings per level for the dragons.

I have each boost on an island with its own habitat/element (fire with fire) however I moved the blue fire dragon from fire in the red to cold and it's still in the red. I'm terrible at math. I feel like this is going to be an uphill battle thank you for your help:)

Umm. No. Panlong can only be double boosted. Fire and water boosts. But yes optimizing for boosts is an arcane science and will depend on your particular mix of dragons. And how often you visit your park. I used to do a spreadsheet too, but these days I just don't worry about it much. No matter how you mix the boosts and dragons, inevitably most of your income will come from epics because of the habitat salary cap. Unless you are more than obsessive and collect hourly. Been there. Done that. I much prefer my 13 rainbow habitats and 10 sun and...
If you insist on pursuing it, some tips: 1. Refer to the DV wiki to determine the boosts. Most are pretty obvious, but some like panlong can be sneaky 2. Boosts affect dragons not habitats 3. Boost your high earners. Don't worry about the low earners 4. Try to get your boosted dragons into high salary cap habitats. There is absolutely no point putting a triple boosted L20 bloom into a small plant habitat. Get it into a giant cold as soon as possible 5. Pencil and paper help enormously. Better than a spreadsheet IMO.

Not a good idea As I said above boost affect dragons not habitats. Put boosts on islands with large cap habitats, not matching ones. Then shoehorn your dragons to fit.
Opposites like Bluefire CANNOT be boosted. They are best on an island without boosts that affect them. Blue fire is fire /cold. If it is on an island with a fire boost, it will be positively boosted for fire, but negatively boosted for cold. Likewise if it is on an island with a cold boost. The way BFS calculate the boosts means that a boosted Bluefire will earn slightly LESS than an unboosted one.

So much movement *slaps hand to head*. My park is so nearly organized I wish I could hire a contractor That I could give my list of dragons to, tell them I have 8 islands and tell me which habitats/boosts to go with. That would be amazing

I think, that would take some fun out of the game. For me, I enjoy organize, and reorganize my parks..I dont really pay attention to red, green, boost or not, etc. All roads lead to Rome. When you play DV long enough, you will have plenty of DC, gems, and foods that you dont know what to do with. Heck, couple of members in this forum have already declined gems from gem partners, and from winning comp. Flutterby and Gregdarcy have excellent inputs, thought I share my view of DV.

I just recently reorganized thinking everything was dandy and organized. with shrines and boost on the same element islands. Almost to 500 mil for my 9th island. Hmmmm time to rethink. Again. Thank you everyone for the advice! It's much appreciated one more question which habitat is best suited for a panlong with a single boost?

I'm with Greg : I don't care about the boosts (anymore). I have arranged most of my habitats so that on every island there are two different sorts of the "normal" elements and the adequate boosts. I've taken care that these two elements , that share an island , are no opposites. However I put my dragons in the habitat that suits most regarding the colors. No advantage of filling up the maximum in 3 hours instead of 3 hours and twenty minutes if the time till I come back to DV for sweeping is 4 hours ! And in comparison to the epic habitat earnings, the differences in the normal habitat earnings affected by boosts are very small.

Oops perhaps Panlong was the wrong dragon to pick as an example!
One of the real positives of DV is that it can be played in so many different ways, and adapted to an individual's lifestyle. Just have fun moving your dragons around, or moving the boosts to see the effects on your dragons.
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)

Perhaps an example from my past would help. In the days of shrine grind mania, I built up an army of blooms (and panlongs, but we won't go there) These can be triple boosted so they all went on an island with plant, cold and lightning boosts on it. A level 15 bloom earns 113/m, but boosted this way, it earns 195/m, taking it from fair to middling to quite respectable. 5 of them in a giant cold habitat earn 5x195 earn 975 per minute. A giant cold habitat can hold 100,000 cash so it will fill up in 102 minutes. About an hour and a half. So if you sweep once a day, you will earn 100,000 DC in a day from this habitat. However if you sweep once an hour (ensuring your habitat never fills up), around the clock, you will earn 1,404,000 from the same habitat in that day. By comparison, a rainbow and a leap year in a giant rainbow habitat will earn only 1,152,000 in 24 hours, but it will do so no matter how rarely you sweep. So this is a MUCH better proposition
So fill three giant cold habitats with L15 blooms and you COULD earn over 4,000,000 per day, but you are more likely to earn about 1,000,000. To continue the scenario however. On that island, also place your Lightning habitat, and fill it with lightning, lightning/plant and lightning/cold hybrids Also place your plant habitat there and fill it with plant, plant/cold and plant/lightning hybrids. Nothing else goes on that island, and you will have maximised your earning potential for these three boosts. But it is only a potential. You probably won't ever achieve it.

Just to make it all even murkier, Suppose you decide to breed up an army of rainbows based on the above advice. And you decide to get them by breeding two rainbows. First you need to consider the cost of the habitats: 10,000,000 each, so the dragons will not start to make a profit for 10 days. But wait there's more. While you are breeding your new rainbows, the parents are not earning anything. so if you are very lucky, then you will forgo another another 8,000,000 or so in earnings. Two parents for two days is about 4,000,000 (more actually) but you need to do it twice to fill the habitat. So lets call it twenty days before you can start to turn a profit as you will almost certainly get a few fails along the way. and that is not counting lost revenue for using the breeding station for turning out "sale for profit" eggs.
BTW pjsteel did some research on this a while ago. He decided that the optimum strategy was to breed up an army of Soltices.
I currently have 13 large rainbow habitats that earn me a quite respectable daily income. All the dragons in them were fails for something else (apart from the first two of each) so I don't really need to count the cost the same way, though the habitat cost is still relevant.

Hi I tried to post on elemental boosts page which brought me here. I notice in many friends parks their boosts are all on one island without habatits. Do they still have to be on same island or can they be stored in storage tower or other islands and still work?

I believe, and it's been a while since I looked into it, the boosts only work on the island where the boosts are situated.
