It costs $7.00 for 50,000 ad-free pageviews here, which seems like a pretty good deal. I that it's costing us about $21.00 a month. So far the staff here has covered the expense, but aswe have grown so has the expense. Several forum members have asked if they could chip in a bit and I think that's a good idea. How about this:
o Strictly voluntary contributions (we will never have a mandatory fee) in the amount of $2.00, similar to buying 50 gems, could be made.
What do you think?

o For lack of a better alternative, contributions could be sent to my Paypal account.
o If there are excess funds I can add one trip a year to Hawaii for my wife and I. Actually, maybe it would be fun to have a contest where the prizes are iTunes Store credits or somesuch.

What about using www.dragonvalecommunity.com which you already pay for and using Drupal to make a community site complete with forum, blog, etc.? Drupal is a very simple technology to use. you could just cut this third party pro boards.com site out of the equation.
