I think that is kind of selfish myself. My son was 6 years old when it came out and has been playing since the second week of inception. He was just learning to read and did not understand the entire "breeding" concept of the game but did his best. He was not able to breed a bone dragon and has been waiting to get a chance again ever since. Are you any more seasoned or deserving than he is? At most you have been playing two weeks longer.
Without this forum or other Internet forums I'd be willing to bet that loads of people would have missed a dragon or two while trying to figure out the right combinations, or still be working on their shrines, you included.
Honestly meant no disrespect to anyone with that post and if it was taken the wrong way then i sincerely apologize. I wasnt saying that no one else deserves a chance to breed bone. As i said i cant wait to get my second. All i meant was that it was a good indicator as to how old some of our parks are. Ive put a ton of time into dragonvale over the last year (much to my wifes dismay) and it was just nice to see who else has been playing as long as i have. With so many of us stuck at level 35 its hard to tell whos been playing for a year and whose been playing for 6 months. Thats all. I meant no harm and hope that everyone understands that. I guess its just a leftover sentiment from work as seniority means quite a bit in my profession. Once again. Apologies to anyone i may have insulted and please excuse me if i came off as selfish. This forum and this community has been a big reason that im even still playing after a year.
Sean.
I really do understand where you're coming from. I think selfish is a bit strong - and I am someone that doesn't have Bone, Bloom, Clover, Reindeer or Sakura. I started in July. I can see why keeping limited truly limited would have benefits to original players. I admit to feeling a bit irritated when Blue Moon was extended, because I'd gotten mine. But on the flip side, much of the joy of the game IS getting to collect all the dragons. So I'll be very happy myself to be able to get bone and Sakura etc.
So in turn, if/when Paper is released again, I'll be happy for the new people that get it, and content knowing I have original ones.
I think that the idea that was posted about having a Bone V2 that is slightly different is a good thought that would separate various year's releases. Anyway. I see both sides of this topic.
ALSO I HAVE MY FIRST PANLONG in my EBS. Finally! I'm stoked! ;D

I'll be joining your pain today: going for second gold oly. ---I was planning to breed my gold and silver oly on island in hopes of getting the second gold. Have you considered this route also, or has someone done the math and determined we're better off going the other routes? I figured this guarantees an oly, and eliminates the bronze oly completely as well as all the other fail possibilities. I welcome anyone's thoughts and statistical input.
I finally got my second gold olympus last week with butterfly/clover. I too had thought about using the gold/silver olympus pairing for a second gold but as someone else previously pointed out, the odds of getting a gold from that pair is very slim and all the fails are long. I believe fletch tried this way on his test account and after 100 attempts he got 0 gold. Im sure hell correct me if im wrong and misquoted. My 2 cents says keep plugging with other combos. At least the fails are shorter. I got all my olympus dragons with butterfly/clover or quake/air.
On another note. As the days in october quickly pass and everyone anxiously anticipates the return of the bone dragon, i cant help but find myself having mixed feelings again. While i long to have a chance for a second bone dragon and egg to display i lament the loss of the sort of badge of seniority having an original bone dragon, witch hut and pumpkin patch showed. It was a way of seeing those of us that have been playing dragonvale since the begining. Im sure im not the only old timer that feels sad about this.
Thanks for input on gold oly (you too pixie and everyone else). As for your take on the bone dragon revival, here's my $.02: I started playing first week of November, so obviously missed out on the one dragon. I have been diligent since to attempt to acquire at least one of every dragon since then and help out others whenever able. I have long coveted the bone dragon, and am anxious for a re-release of it. While I can understand your perspective, mine comes from the other side of the coin. I have been an extremely long time player as well, and to be quite honest, the reasons I stuck with DV are twofold: this community & the bone dragon. If they choose to not make it available again (after heavily insinuating that it would become available seasonally) that would be a major blow to my dedication and might be the stars that breaks the camel's back on my interest in DV. Long before I found the rest of you here (awhile after the leap year dragon's availability expired), the chance to get the bone dragon this Halloween is what keep me playing DV.
Having joined the game in April, I would be glad to catch back the dragons that appeared before me, and those I have met but failed to breed. Looking forward to the re-release of the first one, the Bone dragon, whether in its original or slightly modified form.
Meanwhile, I have just reached gold for my metal shrine. I am reviewing my strategy for the others. Initially. it appears that the fastest way will be to breed dragons with 4 elements to level 15, followed by another dragon containing the remaining two elements. Bearing this in mind, I selected Paper dragon, because of the short breeding time of 12 hours comparing with 36 hours for the Panlong. My current task will be to generate some 40 Paper dragons. The next step will be to breed Sonic, which contains the remaining two elements. That is my medium term plan, while my long-term one will be to have a few of my dragons crowned!

Just caught up on the reading... Hope my post above doesn't come across as being angry either. Just wanted to pitch a perspective into my quest. Personally, I think they shouldn't change the dragon on a re-release, but perhaps when your dragons (any of them) reach a year old, you are able to get something for your park. Perhaps even each time a dragon reaches a year old (cupcakes for everyone). Something to signify your longevity, as well as acknowledging that you kept a dragon alive that long. Special monuments and such, or an achievement at the least.
I was prompted to update my version of DragonVale yesterday, and I did so. I did not notice any change yet from the previous version. Do any of you find something difference after the update, or is it just to fix some bugs in the program?

Aren't there 7 elements? Think you're forgetting metal at a minimum.
I reckon it would be a great idea if the bone came out but was a little different but you could still breed it with the old etc. but maybe the offspring way limited to the new version... I think this is the best of both worlds!!!

Thanks for reminding! I have reached gold status for my Metal shrine and so I left that out. What I missed out is the eighth one, Water shrine! Will rethink of the alternative to Sonic after the Paper.
Any suggestions from friends and experts here?

Liquid, DVC,
I sympathize with both groups. I've been around the game for a fairly long while. I have owned a Bone Dragon, and I have woken to it no longer existing in my park. And I thought, no biggie, BFS made it pretty clear it would be coming back.
Since BFS made the soft commitment of re-releasing Bone, I think they should keep to it. You'll notice that BFS is quite deliberate in the way they position their dragons. For some (gemstone, most seasonal) it is stated very clearly that they will be back. Others (Paper!), not so much.
I think making a special re-coloured version of Bone would be dishonest.
BUT, one of the best ideas I've read on this forum is the one I'm quoting. Some kind of aging marker for dragons would be awesome. Liquid, please post your idea in the ATTN BFS thread.
Because that's what Bone is: a trophy attesting how long you've been around. It's like a hotmail address without any numbers or special characters in it (we're sorry, michael.kealey is already taken. We suggest "m1ka3l_K34l3y_1994774662@hotmail.com" instead). Some way of tracking age on a dragon would be genious.
So yeah, the TLDR version: BFS should deliver on their promises, and no funny business either.
Liquid - your post didn't come across as angry at all. But thanks for taking a second pass at it.

My 0.02$
I keep reading that people are replanning their grind to use Paper over Panlong because it's quicker. In my experience, I don't earn enough cash in 24 hours (12 hr breed + 12 hr incubate) to level a dragon to level 15. So, unless you have 10M food already or have a billion DC saved up, or make an average of 15M DC a day, I would encourage you to consider breeding Panlongs. With a modest daily income of 5M DC, you can perfectly grow enough food to level up baby Panlong between the time it take for it to hatch.

WHAT?!? seriously? How does that happen? It sounds like you took that exceptionally well. That would drive me bonkers.
I'm very fond of the 5 year old who sold my Bone Dragon, and then spent 300 gems on an armada of Lava Dragons, and then spent several thousand food to feed them up to level 10. He would have bought more Lava Dragons, but I hadn't accumulated enough gems for him. We've talked about it. We're better now.

Thanks for asking.
HAHA AAwwwh. I can relate. I had a game that I had hours and hours in on and a cute seven year old overwrote it for me and showed me how great the new (first level) character was! He was lucky that he was so cute. What an adorable/horrible story!
Here's to us both getting Bone dragons, and all will be right again.

Like. Tagging dragons that are more than 12 months old somehow would be great. I don't know if they track that data, or how they could do it with cluttering up the animation even more, but that would be cool.
The problem with not bringing back dragons, as I see it, is that you think what others have affects your game somehow. The truth of the matter is that it does not. This is the epitome of a solo game, as there is no scoring or finish line involved. What you have in, and do with, your park is entirely separate from everyone else playing.

Please post in the Shrine Strategy thread with how many elements you have at Level 15 according to your shrines, and I'll formulate a plan for you using the least number of dragons available.
Pleasure, ma'am. Having fun improving things with each one I do.
Does that include mine? Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty please. Begging on my hands and knees. Agreed to a second date after hysterically funny message won me over so may need it

Hey..... all you old timers need to remember it isn't the bone that separates you. From my perspective what really separates the 1st gen players from the next gen players will be the leap year. 3.5 years till I/the rest of us...get that! I could feel bad, but what will separate my generation from the next will be the Panlong. How would you like to start next January and realize that you get to wait 12 years for that one.....so bone and sakura clover etc will come around yearly, put yourself in BFS's shoes. Us younger generation players Have a heavier cross to bear!!!! If next year is the "year of the rat" do you really think...could it be....hah!
Is there an updated version of this dragon cash per sweep frequency thingie somewhere? dragonvale-tips.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=library&thread=74&page=1#3810 I still have metal dragons from some months ago, but I suspect they are not the top anymore and that I am just being lazy in leaving my metal dragon island. In fact, I am so lazy at DV lately, that I have over 300 million in dc sitting in my bank with plenty of dragons I could level to 15, but can't find the time/energy to spend growing sarjin peppers for an hour or two. Soooo many taps, so little time.
Check out the eZine thread as we have been reporting new habitat earnings there.
