A favor please. When you are all posting your amazing breeding results, could you tell us what combo you used? Yes, there's lots of good info available, but it's great to hear firsthand what's working.
Each and every combo for a particular dragon has the same % chance of working. The only difference is the average fail times for that combo.
Trying to rearrange my entry island to focus on the stunningly beautiful large rainbow habitat, I was going crazy trying to move my egg collection around - so in desperation - I sold them!
All except my gem eggs and the epic ones, which I only breed if I really love the eggs. It's certainly freed things up a bit. Oh, I have for the minute kept the metal eggs, as they are my favorites from the main grid.
Trying to toss up whether to focus on a second apocalypse and then go back to my string of rusts while I try for a platinum. After all, the Love will no doubt return in February, and the Clover in March - unless Backflip thinks it won't need to do that after the current bonus opportunities.
Cecilia - you can always re-breed the eggs; I'm certainly you're sure to get a lot of them back as rare/epic fails in the next year. 3/4 of my own egg stash were fail eggs from Gemstone and Epic breedings.
I'd say go for the second apocalypse and do Love/Clover while you can. I bet you'll be busy trying to breed new epics/rares in Feb and March, as Backflip is sure to release new dragons as well as old ones, as they did in October with Bone/Ghost.
Thundercrystal - no, but going to the Sandbox will help you figure out which combos you want based on the dragons that you want.
So as a relative newcomer to DV is there one combo that can lead to several of the returning dragons?
You bet there is. Our good friend r0b0tr0n runs the Breeding Sandbox and he has a Combo finder. Choose the dragons you would like to breed and it will show you combos to use for the ones you want.
Looking for an opinion or two. I am thinking of selling most of my level 15 Papers. There are definitely more lucrative options for making DC now. And I keep putting more of them in hibernation because others are needed for the Holiday breeding spree. Shrines aren't rumored to be heading platinum are they? I would be ticked if I sold off that investment and then found I needed them for future goals.
Woohoo 6th island! Oh, and I'm now up to 8 leap year fails. Feels bad selling them
What combination are you using that you have had 8 Leap Year fails? Why would you sell them?
My last fail came from chrome x scorch. I've kept 3. I'm selling them as if they keep popping up over the next couple of weeks, at the rate I'm getting them, my islands will be full of them. I don't like to have more than 2 of each dragon. I like diversity. No matter how big of an earner they are.
Just got a text from my 10 year old grandson - Grandma! Please tell us how to breed the new dragons. All of them! TREVOR Love that kid! lol
Hmmmm...you would need to write a book!
I love how the little ones enjoy DV just like we do. Purdy darned clever game.
They enjoy it when they have time. Yes, it took a bit of time to assemble and send.
Was so tempted to send back - When a daddy dragon loves a mommy dragon......but didn't think my daughter and husband would find the humor. Maybe if he were older. lol

A level 15 dragon has only been fed 3% of the required food to get it to Level 20. To put it another way you need to feed them 33 x the amount of food they have eaten now. Feeding a dragon 34 times an amount of food instead of 33 is obviously no big deal. Sell them off. Don't feel guilty.
Got a platinum, and what I think will be a rust fail on my island, and I think a rainbow, sun, or silver fail (weird thing to say!) in the EBC.
But, in my best news, I now have half my shrines gilded! When plant went gold this evening, I suddenly realized it was half of them. The bad news? Imma need about 100 dragons to take the rest to gold - that's somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-36,000,000 food, I think! I should be celebrating that ... oh, sometime next year at this time, right??!
What dragons are you all trying for, that BFS brought back for the holidays? I'd like another Ruby, and a Sapphire, for turbo babies.

Good point. I knew I could count on you to give me the perspective I needed. Thank you.

Don't forget to take into account the time it took for each dragon to incubate then hatch. Not to mention the emotional attachment that has built up over time.
Selling your papers now could have you scrambling to breed more IF the shrines do advance past gold. Time wasted IMO. Plus, what if, at that time, a new limited Dragon is released. Now your caves are clogged with papers that you already had but decided to maliciously sell off because they were deemed 'unneeded'. Economy of motion. Write that down.

This made me laugh. I too have a Paper army as the driving force behind my Shrine Grind. But one day I will gild all my shrines... I will keep this in mind when that day comes.
I don't think I could sell off all my Papers, I'm way too attached to them. My favorite is Paper6, but Paper13 has a special place in my heart as well...
