Here are some basic tech remedies for some of the problems found within our Dragonvale parks.

Backflip Studios Support Email: [e-mail]

DragonVale parks CANNOT be moved or switched between two platforms (ie. Apple, Amazon, or Android) so be careful on which device you would like to stick with.

Friend Codes are no longer in use!

Apple Platform:

Updating DragonVale to iOS 8:

Associating a "Local Park" to a Gamecenter Account:
*Remember, this is a permanent decision and that you will need to have access to your Gamecenter account to access your DragonVale park*
1. Log into your Gamecenter account.
2. Start DragonVale on your device.
3. A message will appear asking if you would like to play your Local Park or Gamecenter Park. Select Gamecenter, as your park should now be permanently transferred under your account.
Note: If you receive another message prior to your selection (it may ask you which park you wish to use), choose the higher level park, as all of the previous data is saved upon it.

Changing In-Game Language:
1. Go into Options in DragonVale
2. Tap Languages
3. Click on the language that you wish to see displayed in the game
o The current languages available in DragonVale include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese.

Friend list crashing:
o Update to the latest software
o Close out of other running programs from your device.
o Remove excess friends from your list to lessen buffering on your device.
o *Tip* Send a single gem to a friend at a time by gifting them first, exiting out of your friend's list, then repeating the process again. Not only is this preventing a possible crash, but helps your friend list to gradually load over time.

Friends Do Not Appear on List:
o Make sure that your DV park is up to date with the latest update from the App Store.
o Friends need to have the same update version of DV as you. If they are not appearing on your list, this is either because you or your friend do not have the same version of DV.
o If you and your friend both have the same version of DV but neither are showing up on your list, simply close out of the entire program then reload it. This should restore your latest GameCenter information onto your park.
* This issue has been brought up to BFS and have claimed for it to be a common bug.

Gem Gifting Tree Functions:
o Can gift 6 gems.
o Its cycle runs in a 24 hour time period from when you first send out your gems.
o To avoid seeing the “greyed” out gifting name after a 24 hour time period, you need to exit out of DV completely by closing its running program.
o Gems not sent out within the 24 hour time period will be overlapped by a new set of 6 gems, discarding the previous ones.

Missing Gems from Purchase:
If you had purchased a number of gems from the DragonVale in-game app store but they are not listed in your gem count, a couple of suggestions to do are:
o Close out of DragonVale then relaunch.
o Check your Apple account to make sure that a transaction has actually been made in the game.
o If none of the two methods above help in resolving this problem, email BFS: [e-mail] and inform them about the transaction that was made.

Optimizing Gameplay:
o Close out of other running programs
o Update to the latest software on your iDevice

Power Cycling your Device:
If your DragonVale app is not responding or loading to an update, "Power Cycling" your device is an optimal solution to help fix this problem.
1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iDevice.
3. To turn iDevice back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Stuck Goals:
o The only solution for this problem is to email BFS at [e-mail] and explain the situation with your incomplete goal.

Shrine Mechanics:
o Leveling your dragons no longer requires shrines. Most dragons can be leveled up to your park level, to a maximum of level 20. Epic and Gemstone Dragons are still currently limited to level 10.
o Players will receive a one-time gift for each Shrine they have leveled. Silver Shrines will reward players with 15 Gems and 250,000 Treats. Gold Shrines will rewards players with 40 Gems and 1,000,000 Treats. Please note that you will only be rewarded with gems if you had leveled them BEFORE the 2.0 update! Apologies for any confusion.
o Shrines are still available in the game as a special decoration that counts your dragons.

Technical Difficulties for the following devices:
o 4th Generation iPod Touch
o iPad 1
o iPhone 3GS
These are currently the oldest devices supported by BFS.

Upgraded Gemstone Habitat Functions:
o The gem countdown timer works the same as a non-upgraded gemstone habitat.
o Although the number of gems that can be accumulated in a habitat have been increased, a chest notification will appear when at least One gem is present in the habitat.

Android/Amazon Platform:

How to Force Close an App:
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap More
3. Tap Applications (this shows you your currently running apps)
4. Find and tap on the application you would like to Force Stop
5. Tap Force Stop
6. It will ask you if you would want to stop. Tap Ok.

Bad Graphics or Missing Data:
o Force close the app then relaunch.
o Close out of other apps that may be running.

Missing DragonCash, Gems, or Treats From Purchase:
Not receiving a purchase immediately is usually due to the slow process of servers making the transaction from an account. A few things to do if this problem continues is to:
o Keep a copy of your receipt which includes the item purchased.
o Note the Facebook Username from which the purchase was made from.
o Email BFS: [e-mail] and inform them about the transaction that was made.

Is there any way to change which facebook account Dragonvale is associated with?

My wife and I started playing Dragonvale on her Kindle Fire, associated with her facebook account, but she no longer plays. I recently got an iphone for work, and would like to add the Dragonvale game, but I don't want to lose all of the effort we've already put into the game associated with her account. Is there anyway I can associate her Dragonvale game with my iphone now?

I'm sorry, but I don't believe so. The Apple platform and the Google platform are separate, and games played on one can't be transferred to the other.

To clarify, your game on Kindle is connected to your Google account or your device, not your Facebook account. The Facebook account is just a way you can visit friends. On your iPhone your park is connected to your Apple Device or your GCID.

To clarify, your game on Kindle is connected to your Google account or your device, not your Facebook account. The Facebook account is just a way you can visit friends. On your iPhone your park is connected to your Apple Device or your GCID.

I don't believe the last statement is correct. On Android devices, your park is stored on the BFS servers associated with a Facebook account. I have switched between the Google Play version and the Amazon App store version of DV several times on my Android phone. I could always access my same park using my Facebook account.

Fletch is correct about using the same park on IOS and Android. Here's a quote from the Dragonvale Android Device FAQ


Can I play my iOS (Apple) DragonVale park on my Android device or vice versa?

DragonVale accounts and their data are NOT transferable between iOS (Apple) and Android devices. You cannot access your iOS (Apple) DragonVale park from an Android device nor can you access your Android DragonVale park from an iOS (Apple) device.

today my dragonvale behave strangely. i keep getting log out of my park. i have to log in each time i play. the android is the latest version and my dragonvale is the latest update. yesterday it was doing fine. help anyone?

Hey Novi, sorry for the late response.

For your situation, I would recommend following these steps provided by Backflip Studios FAQ:

1. Access your Facebook App.

2.While in the Facebook App, go to menu > account > account settings > apps > DragonVale > remove DragonVale.

3. Now open DragonVale on your device. The original request for DragonVale to access your Facebook account should appear.

4. Go into your Android Settings and Force Stop DragonVale (Go to Settings > Select Applications > Select Manage Applications > Tap on DragonVale > Tap Force Stop).

5. Now launch DragonVale and sign in as usual.

My grandson's Gizmonauts game is on my iPad; he uses a separate Game Center account to access his game. A few days ago, he was playing & obviously did something he shouldn't have because his regular game disappeared & he started a new game but didn't tell me something was different until he was at lvl 5 on the new game. Now we can't get his original game ( which he has been playing for months) back. I am afraid to try anything without "professional" help first in case I destroy my game also. Is there anything I can do to get the original game back? Thanks!

Hey Mishkamom,

Sorry to hear about your grandson losing his park. Losing a huge portion of a beloved game never is fun

I personally don't own Gizmonauts, but hope that it holds the same functions implemented in it as in Dragonvale.

My first thought that comes to mind is if his GameCenter or Apple account had been changed or modified in any way. This can sometimes revert an outpost back to level 1 as it is very unlikely for a game to just disappear.

Another possibility that comes to mind is if he had received a message informing him about which outpost he would like to use before playing the game. It will usually say something along the lines of, "Which Gizmonaut outpost would you like to continue to play on?" Then will follow with the option of being able to choose a local outpost (has no data) or your previous GC outpost (the one with all of the data). This can also happen if his GCID or Apple account was modified. If so, the game that your grandson is playing may be a local outpost and is non-associated with GameCenter nor Backflip Studios. This basically means that this outpost has "unconnected" information to both GC and BFS and has hope of retrieving your old data again.

If you haven't already tried this, first log out then log back into GameCenter with your grandson's account. If that does not work, both of these problems may be fixed by emailing BFS at their support site, informing them with the needed assistance of a technical outpost transfer, as it should be saved on their own servers as well. They will need your GCID in order to retrieve the previous data stored onto their servers:

If all else fails, my last assumption is that the outpost could have been overwritten with the newer data and unfortunately, don't think that there is a solution for that as it is out of BFS' control.

I have only received the generic email from BFS re my grandson's GZ game, so have contacted them again. But today I have a different question: my niece is playing DV on her phone using FB, she has gifted me gems but I play on an iPhone/iPad using GC. How do I send her gems in return? She doesn't show up on my Friends list, of course. I tried looking through some of the other threads but there are so many pages.... If I should post this question on another thread, please let me know which one. Thanks so much!

Yes, gems can be gifted across the two platforms. However, because the Android/Facebook version is not connected to GameCenter, your niece on Android must be friends with you on Facebook in order to be able to gift you gems and vice versa. Facebook is the only bridge between the two platforms and once that connection is complete, you should be able to see your niece in your friend list and send gems.

Hey Novi,

The Facebook friending system is a little buggy. It is a problem that has been noticed and it takes some time before friends show up after adding them through Facebook. Occasionally, it may say that your Friends list is completely empty and/or have specific friends not show up on it randomly. Restarting the app is probably your best chance to fix it other than reinstalling DV, but it usually just takes time to fix itself. If this happens, don't worry too much about your friends being lost, it's just the DV app being glitchy.

Just make sure that when you are in the Social Centre, your Facebook is logged in.

Why does the leaderboard not update your park value? Is there a way to force the recalculation? I have noticed that my friends have new values with a current date, but I am stuck on a previous date.

Hey Akquilter, and welcome to the forum

Unfortunately, as far as I know, I am unaware if there is a way to force update your current park value on GameCenter. However, I do know that GameCenter scores are updated depending on a game developer's servers. This means depending on the game developer, scores can be updated weekly, daily, hourly, or even at the moment.

From past experiences, I have noticed that DV park value is updated daily or at least once a day. On the contrary, it is unconfirmed how often the servers are refreshed to match your most recent score in your park.
