I'm currently keeping DC at about the 200M level. Why, I don't know! Just seems like a good number. I was up close to 1B but doesn't seem to be any point to accumulating a bunch of cash.
My goal is 2 of every dragon plus an egg and to crown at least one of every dragon. I have 2 crowned at the moment, a Paper and a Panlong. Also to get all shrines to gold and, when they do it (which they SURELY will) get my shrines to platinum.
I'm currently earning at the rate of about 50M DC every day. I have 65 Solstice/Blue Moon dragons in 20 Sun and 5 Moon habitats. This is to maximize my cash/day. I have only 9 hybrid dragon habitats, all upgraded. One each of the 8 types plus an extra Earth habitat. Why the extra Earth? I don't know. Can't bear to hibernate so many Earth's.
One other thing I've done is to use Excel to help me lay out the most efficient way to get the shrines to gold using the least number of total dragons. This is assuming 2 of every dragon and taking into account the extra dragons I've already raised to level 15. I sold all my excess dragons which weren't needed.
I use detailed Excel spreadsheets (which evolved over several months) to estimate my daily earning rates and to keep track of what I have and what I need next.
So that's my park!
This is very similar to me haha (with the spreadsheets as well). I currently have 87 sun/moon hybrids out on display. I've bought 4 of the additional 5 habitats. I'm still hesitant to spend 250 gems for the final additional habitat, but I guess I have nothing else to do with them so I might as well. I wont' bother yet though as I have liberty and ruby to keep me occupied for a little while before I have time to breed some more Blue Moons.
I doubt they'll have platinum shrines though. Even at max earnings (including breeding for profit), it is hard to get ONE level 20 dragon per week. So it would take a LONG time to get enough dragons to get all shrines to platinum (you'd need around 150-200 level 20 dragons, or 3-4 years!!)
That's pretty cool. Now I know I'm not the only one. The Blue Moons are better looking but I've focused on the Solstice because they breed faster.
I hear ya on the platinum shrine business. I figure they'll eventually come up with a way for people to do it. I imagine they'll come out with giant Epic habitats and then maybe some way to earn really huge amounts of coins. I think they'll do something. Anyway it gives me an excuse to keep working on my optimum mix of dragons.
I play on Android and I have a Galaxy tablet and two Galaxy S2 phones. I went ahead and set up 3 accounts so I can gift myself. I've had a lot of trouble finding reliable friends to gift with! My accounts are at level 45, 40, and 36.
As soon as I have time I'll buy a second extra habitat. Like you, I'm working on ruby and liberty now on my tablet account. I'm looking at stowing some of the lesser earning epic habitats and converting to Sun/Solstice. If I could get a second Double Rainbow I might consider building Rainbow habitats. The thing is they take so long to breed and you only earn 53 more coins/minute.
You know what I wish they'd do for improvement? An "undo" feature. There've been several times I've screwed up hitting a button too fast. Like the time I hit "yes" on speeding up something that had 31 hours on it. I was up too late. Not enough caffeine.

I'm the same - bred Solstices because they were quicker. However, I now have 50 of them and in the event they come out with epic shrines (which I hope they do), I figured I should diversify and get some moon dragons (with Blue Moon being the quickest).
I would have just gone Solar Eclipse from the start to hit both, but 48 hours is just too long.
I haven't been able to justify removing my other epic habitats yet - realistically, it is a good decision from an efficiency standpoint as you can earn about $500K per day extra from a large sun/moon habitat compared to the others.
But it takes a considerable time to recover the cost of doing so - and I'm still holding out hope that they'll upgrade the other habitats at some point to allow them to hold more (particularly seasonal, given there will be 5 different seasonal dragons).
I would advise against DR habitats though - they do earn a little bit more, but the cost is just soooo excessive. Don't forget that the time spent breeding could be earning $$ by breeding magnetics, so you lose millions there. Then you lose even more money as the DRs aren't earning while they are breeding. And then the habitat itself costs $10m!! All to gain a very small extra amount daily.
I haven't done the calcs, but I estimate it would take over a year to pay off. I'll check it out and post back though...
PS. Have a look at the post in my signature if you want to have a look at some of the maths I do in my spreadsheets
Ah bugger, I just realised that I kinda shot myself in the foot by buying 4 of the 5 extra habitats and making them Large Moon habitats.
So, DRs are a bit of a waste of time as an UPGRADE (i.e. replacing a large sun/moon habitat with a large rainbow) - as they only earn an extra $75K per day, but cost an additional ~$40m to set up (this includes the cash you would get from selling off the large sun/moon habitat and its occupants). Even if you factor in the 'value' in the habitat and it's dragons (i.e. if you were to sell it later), it still takes over a year for the incremental gains of $75K per day to pay off the costs of setting up the habitat.
HOWEVER, if you have a free extra habitat slot (as is the case with the purchaseable extra habitats), you can get yourself a large rainbow habitat and 2 DRs for a total cost of $48m. This will pay off in a little over a month.
I'll use this strategy going forward - whenever new habitats are available, I'll build a large rainbow and 2 DRs. Need to get my second DR first though...
I started off the day yesterday with over 800 million dc, over 500 gems, and 4.5 million + in treats, but when I bred on my island for Ruby and got a 39 hour fail, and bred in my cave and got my 55th fail for my second Jade (already have the egg), I decided to work on a couple of shrines. I sold my 55 fail eggs to make room for my Ruby and Liberty fails, which increased my dc. I took my Water and Air to gold, and leveled up a Current to 17 to help in the coliseum. I upgraded three Earth habitats and totally redecorated my shrine/opposite element island and made some changes to all the rest, except my Epic island. I refused to take my dc below 700 million, so I have only been able to get my treats back up to 2.6 million and my gems are sitting at 458. That leaves me with 3 shrines to turn gold. One only needs 3 dragons and the other 2 only 5 each. With my upgraded Earth habitats I was able to sell one Earth and build another Seasonal to hold 2 of my 5 Summer. All in all, I was pleased with my efforts of the day. I'll slowly work on getting my treats back up and then try again to get into the Billionaire's Club.

This morning, I finally reached 2 billion, which was my goal. I want to be ready for the next island that is released. Now, I will convert all incoming cash into treats.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

I am not quite a billionaire yet (just over 500 million), but this was the best thread to post my question to, which is: what do I even do with all this money?? I have 6 islands not including the gemstone island (which I also have), all are decorated, I have plenty of food, more habitats than I can fill with new dragons (that I don't already have at least one of)...I never seem to have enough gems but I am rolling in DC. Is there anything I can spend it on that I'm missing? It's just sitting there burning a hole in my pocket, haha. Thanks!!

How do you feel about feeding up your dragons to level 20? A good way to use up the food and then use the DC to make more food to feed more dragons.
Have not been by in a while but thought I'd pop in and update.
I just checked Tanyon's park, he is now at $5.1B, 2500+ gems and 3.5M food. It looks like he has all gold shrines and followed Fletch's advice to a tee.
He has finally spent some gems and upgraded a few of his habitats to the big ones but not all. He has at least two of every dragon, has at least one of each displayed and has all of them to at least level 15, except the ones that can't.
All in all not bad for a kid that when he started could barely read a word and has not been allowed real money.

Thanks for the update, I'm so proud of him for sticking with the game and especially going old school with the shrine grind. Give him a big pat on the back from us!
I'm amazed that you can all be so self-controlled with DC and treats and gems. I'm still feeding dragons as fast as my DC allows. I'm going to have to save up for the last island soon, that will be a severe test. I guess I just don't have enough epics to break through the spending barrier yet.
