I think it's worth noting that some (all?) of the individual magic timers must reset as well as the main magic timer. Earlier I raced for the first time in months and got 50 magic, then 35(?) for the next race, then less again, etc. That was maybe half an hour ago, maybe a bit more. I just raced again and got 50. Obviously the goal is to keep you coming back to do stuff multiple times a day if you weren't already. Too late for me to check now, but it makes me wonder if getting hats at different times would get you the maximum magic each time if they were far enough apart.
I cannot get this to load on my Kindle. I went to Manage my kindle and there is no action to upgrade. I removed it and reloaded it and I got the same old version. I searched for Dragonvale 2.0 and got the same old version. HELP!!!!
Amazon hasn't released it yet, all you can do is wait.
Also, is there anywhere where you can see how much magic you have earned (or contributed) for the day? You can 'store' a max of 1,000, but contribute a maximum of 3,000. Is there anywhere that shows how much you have earned or contributed in total during the day? I'm also wondering when the 'day' resets - probably the same time the tree resets I guess.
This update came out slighly earlier than I had anticipated so am a bit short on dragoncash...
I don't believe so. Seems pretty unlikely you'd get to 3000 in the day as the earnings drop exponentially with repetition. Do everything a couple of times every day is my advice.
That confirms this statement from the itunes app store about what's new
Wait, what? So what's the point of gilding shrines now?
Seems that Dragon level is tied to your game level exactly. Level 20 players can now feed up level 20 dragons regardless of shrines.
so i was just about to reach silver shrine level for plant fire earth and cold and now that means abso-freakin nothing???!!!!! SIGH!
Don't get me wrong I LOVE the new magic/Light-Dark options but now we mid levels what have we got to go for? I've been hatching dragons of all types and stuffing them anywhere I could just so I could reach 50 for my shrines-- I bought all except metal. Now it seems silly to struggle to get the 15Mil DC to buy that shrine doesnt it? better to put that cash to a new island....
and so can I now get rid of my duplicates and triplicates cuz I dont need them to level up my shrines? Not meaning to whine just thinking in type--obviously gotta come up with a whole new strategy, eh?! Any thoughts and suggestions welcome. for now will concentrste on autumn and ghost while the dust settles.
btw makes many of the threads "archaic" does it not :s
edited for typo SIGH again

Once an element is released, players will no longer be able to cast magic towards that element. When an element is released whatever rewards you have earned will be gifted to you and you will no longer be able to upgrade them. Players will still be able to cast magic towards the remaining element to upgrade their rewards until it is also released. When both elements are released the event will then come to a conclusion
Hmmm ... that's still not overly clear. Particularly after
"What is this? I think it's a Rift Egg. I bet that whichever element returns first will imprint on this dragon and determine its form!"
Okay, worked out that quote ONLY refers to the Rift Egg that's sitting on the pedestal, and not all of them that you collect.
I will say that this is just the free rewards, and that no doubt dragons and habitats will be available to buy when they're released.

As usual, Amazon is the last "retailer" to release the new update They are still providing the old version. You'll have to wait for Amazon to get off their duff and release version 2.0. Amazon really supports Dragonvale poorly in terms getting major release out the door quickly.
Thanks--I thought I was doing something wrong. Now I know it is Amazon!!!
i will test getting party hats thru out the next 24hrs since i have so many wonderful friends. will post as soon as i have a pattern
Okay, I can now confirm that the hat timer resets, though I don't know how often. I had checked on my mom's park in the last 24 hours and happened to grab the hats, so they weren't there when I got the rest of them earlier. Just now they were back, and getting all 3 gave me 35 magic again. Finding out how quickly it resets would still be helpful, though.

"I don't believe so" - Are you referring to my first question, about if there is anywhere to see how much you've earned for the day?
Until we find an answer to that question, I'm going to approach it by only spending my magic when I get to 1,000 and hopefully doing that 3 times per day.
There will definitely be a way to optimise this - there always is. We just need to work out what gives you how much magic and when. E.g. Maybe 3 races at 4 seperate times during the day will net you a good result (if it can be shown from above that there are indeed mini timers).
I'm very interested to see how the treats work - if all treats are treated equally, then it would be best to grow the 6 hour treats a few times a day (again, if there are mini timers).

I just got a couple of 35s from a couple of visits in a row. Seems a bit more random. Like collecting DC. Sometimes I get magic. Sometimes not.

I do not believe that is correct. The messages say that the first magic to reappear will imprint on the Rift eggs you collect. I don't think it matters which Reward habitat you build on to collect your eggs.
My thoughts are that regular habitats will be available to buy when the magic returns, so if you have them all in the Light Reward habitat and Dark comes back first, you'll need to buy a Dark habitat to put them in, rather use the free one you've earned.
From BFS info page.

Yup, I read that with interest.
So it seems you are best off contributing as much as possible to whichever looks like it will be 'selected' to maximise your 'rewards', whatever they may be.
But how do you know which will be selected? If those bars do actually show you the overall community progress towards light or dark, then it is in your best interest to get on that bandwagon
You can earn all the other rewards later.
But I have no idea how the reward system works - if there is a cap, then obviously once you've hit that cap, you should start contributing to the other.
Very interesting to read on that BFS page that you can earn additional habitats that don't count towards your habitat limit!

Has anyone gotten the Terra Firma goal to go away? I bought a small Earth habitat and rushed it, but I didn't get credit for the goal. Seems a little odd to have a goal that basic back - is this a glitch, like the Blazing breeding hint that won't unlockt no matter how many you breed?
Sigh. You guys are going like 100mph and I am going below the national highway speed limit. When it all said and done can we have a simpler version, please.

Yes, I don't believe there is a counter. If you don't mind losing some magic when you hit the cap, you could wait for the 1000, but better would be emptying at ~500 so absolutely none is wasted.
I can't check the goal because they were all gilded, but rewards for shrines all say: "bfsgift_statueplant_gold_fb_title", "currency": {"gems": "40", "food": "1000000"},
Magic has a bit of a random thing going for it, and it is different for each action. Treat growing:
Seems to always give 30 magic as a result, a maximum of 6 times a day. And as I got it the first 2 times I grew the 30 second treats, you could power your way through those till you got your 6 lots of 30 magic and you'd be done. Or maybe you only have a chance of earning on your first 6 attempts to grow stuff?
PS. Can someone please test what happens when you breed a Solstice + Solstice together?
Or Blue Moon + Blue Moon?
Would greatly appreciate it!!
Not sure about that, but I just bred two Loves together and got a 48 minute.
I hardly have any limited eggs but lots of pairs of limited dragons. Now it seems I won't be able to make those eggs after all. Had I known that I would have rather done one dragon and one egg. Totally bummed.

The two decorations on the Event Island turn into habitats when you earn enough magic to get a rift egg in them. Mine currently say Light/Dark Reward Habitat instead of Light Vestige/Dark Remnant. Looks to be about 3x3 at the moment, so size of a small habitat. As you earn more eggs I'm assuming the habitats increase to Large and then Giant. Get these ones for free to save having to buy them when the dragons are released.

The question is if you can never breed the expireds now, or just if it is more random.
