I'm a bit confused about the daily limit on magic eggs with the high amount required for the prizes, but I really doubt they will make it nigh impossible to do without spending cash. Even so, to me Dragonvale is a nice game to pick up for a couple of minutes at a time during the day. I'm certainly not going to start stressing about it

The limit has been significantly reduced in comparison to the magic event as well as the price of the prizes. The daily limit for an average player is about 125 magic eggs. 40 from collecting DC from habitats, 40 from growing treats, 25 from completing the colosseum with gold, and 20 for visiting friends and collecting party hats. If you happen to have an uncleared island, clearing obstacles can give you and extra 10 magic eggs per day.
Hmmm I am always calculating my egg counter to see if I have maxed out all 125 a day, because is want all of them. I seem to have collected 260-ish eggs. This minus the 50 original eggs is 210-ish meaning about 40 I'm missing. Simple to say those are from the colosseum! And I should have 24 eggs given to me, as I was never given them from party hats. This means I probably have only collected 200+the 50 starter eggs and am owed 24 and with a gold I'll be up to date. BUT on MY day 1 of the hunt I received eggs for clearing the final few objects on a new island, which had been deforest in/derocking over the time I was away. That's 10 more which means the 210-ish figure could be those extra ten eggs. All in all I seem to have virtually maxed out!
My egg hunt wizards rehide the eggs at GMT+0 8pm which is noon for a load of you guys. Also looking through the egg thread the first person to announce the event is at 9:20pm my time which. Meaning if the wizards started hiding then for most people I only missed 1 day of the hunt through a late event and a huge time difference! Wow am I lucky Koala

What I have started doing is clearing my egg total when the timer says about an hour to reset. That way, the total reflects the number of eggs that day. An easy way to keep track.

What I have started doing is clearing my egg total when the timer says about an hour to reset. That way, the total reflects the number of eggs that day. An easy way to keep track.
I wait until I have collected all the habitat and treat eggs (80) and then cash them in. I then wait until the next day, for the colusseum and party hats. Once I know I have maxed, then I cash in and return to normal play.
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...

The first day I got all 40 hab eggs in one sweep of the park. Nearly every hab had eggs. The next 24-hr period took two sweeps. Last night a sweep (all 50 habs showed chests) only yielded 32 eggs and this morning, again, all full, only gave 4 more. Same with treats - it's taking more plantings to max out. Thank goodness for fast dragon snaps!

I too noticed it taking longer and more repeats to get the maximum eggs from treats and habitats, but hadn't quantified it. The first 2 days I got the 80 before going to bed, but since then I have had to carry on the next morning. Glad for dragon snaps.

The time of the reset is different for everybody because when the 24 hours are over it also waits for you to open DV until it resets. The egg hunt started for me on April 10th at 22:22 European standard time (daylight saving on) As I was out for dinner my magic egg timer started at 23:00, and this was so for the next 2 days. Yesterday I went to bed early. This morning at 7:00 AM my timer said 24 hours till next reset, so the timer waited for me to start DV. The easiest way to get to know when the event started is to go to this post dragonvale-tips.proboards.com/post/102332 from noodles who was the first one to post about the update. Just look what time this is in your time zone.

Thanks svrellia for the screenshot! The completionist in me is definitely going to try for the Lost Island, and will probably shell out some money for it if it came down to the wire. I think it'd make a nice egg pedestal display island, if there's actually enough space for one of each kind!
Now I'm wishing I'd saved up more DC so I might have a shot at getting the tenth island to clear some rocks and trees. I'm still saving up now, but it seems highly unlikely that I'll make it in time.
That's a great idea to use it as an egg display island!

I have roughly 1B in DC, and 1,900 sparklies. I am starting to save DC and gems, in case we have an option to purchase the Lost island w/ DC and gems, using oodles of gems + DC. Another thought, I just want to share.

You may need to time the removal of rocks and trees so they will fall w/i the Easter weekend. Huge trees require 48 hrs to clear, and boulders 36hr + or so. Dont want to miss the oppor. window.
Was disappointed to find I can't upgrade my new gemstone habitat! It only holds 2 dragons :/
side note: I still wish we could upgrade our light/dark bonus reward habitats. I would spend 100+ gems to get them giant.
It makes sense that you can't upgrade them since it would reduce the value for those who earned them. Also, they don't count towards the habitat limit so that could also be why.

Hmm I'm still wondering; if this event lasts three weeks, will I be able to get the 7th island by then. At the moment I am about a third of the way through level 28. I have about 7 mil dc. If I work hard (dragon racing grinding) I could be able to get the level thirty, 100 million island soon.... I get about 5-10 million dc a day, and I get a tonne of Dc through the colosseum each day.... Maybe I can get the island in a week if I Xp grind and save money! If I can then I should squeeze out even MORE eggs!

Yes I did take this into account. The time of his/her post was 9:22pm GMT+0, or 2:22pm in DV headquarters! i do think that I only lost 47 hrs of time( I started the hunt at 7:56 my time) less than 2 days! Wow, what luck.

Do you think it's worth it to swap out a couple of habitats for small plant habs that will refill quickly?
I started clearing all of my boulder piles and giant trees so that they will be ready to click when the magic timing is right. It's really difficult to remember to not click on the XP!

You only get up to 10 eggs for clearing obstacles, that are 5 obstacles a day. I don't know how much obstacles to clear you have but saving them for a double weekend only makes sense if they are not enough. ( I remember the tenth island being completely full with trees and stones). And what buffy mentioned is totally true too : those big rocks need a lot of time to clear. You can start the clearing some time ahead of when you really want to collect the eggs. The magic egg reward is given when you press the exp sign for clearing finish no matter when you started the clearing.
When counting the obstacles to decide whether so save them for double weekend or not you may have to factor in that it might be getting harder to gain eggs. Maybe in one week you 'll clear 2 obstacles and don't earn any egg, only clearing the third will give you MEs. ( don't know if this becomes true though)
