So far, from what we can gather (Editor: ha, ha very pun-ny...), the goal is to collect Magic Eggs by doing normal, everyday things, and then to trade them in for prizes.
This is all similar to the Light/Dark event, where we tried to collect a currency called "Magic". Now the currency is "Magic Eggs". However, unlike the Light/Dark event, there does not appear to be a community event attached to this. This is purely a solo event.
The first thing you will see is the Easter Event Island, which has several odd items scattered about on it. One item in particular, the Vernal Glass, has a big green arrow on it. When you click it, you will be immediately be given an option to enter the Easter Event Tutorial by clicking the Help icon
Completing the tutorial will net you a one time bonus of 50 Magic Eggs, so don;t you even try to skip it!
Much like the Tines of the Scar from the Light/Dark Event, The Vernal Glass is the heart of the Easter Event!
It collects your magic eggs to award you prizes, changes colors to track your progress and lets you know when the Wizards will hide more Magic Eggs for you to find (they should do it once every 24 hours). You're going to spend a lot of time touching The Vernal Glass, so make sure to wash your hands regularly to avoid smudges
As you can see, the glass starts off rather plain looking, but it will be colored in as you add more Magic Eggs to your total. In addition, each prize you acquire seems to add a colored egg to the outer frame. When you have everything, The Vernal Glass should look just like the one in the image below:
So what do these Magic Eggs get us? Glad you asked!
There are several other items on this island, all of which are prizes you can earn. They include the Egg of Burcadia, an Ovalith Egg Pedestal, two egg edifices containing one unhatched Ovalith Egg each and the Gemstone Habitat. But that's not all! You can also earn the Lost Island. However, the prizes have to be purchased in order. There does not appear to be a way to, say, skip one of the second Ovalith dragon in order to help save up for the Lost Island. So, here are these are the prizes in the order that you must purchase them:
Egg of Burcadia (80 eggs): A large decoration
Ovalith Pedestal (+160 eggs, total 240): a rare gemstone egg pedestal
Gemstone Habitat (+160 eggs, total 400): a bonus habitat that does not count against your habitat total. It can be placed like any other habitat and on any island of your choosing. It can house any two Gemstone dragons of your choosing.
Ovalith Dragon (+800 eggs, total 1200) and then another Ovalith Dragon (+800 eggs, total 2000)
There's no breeding combo for these rare Gemstone dragons, so the only way to get them at the moment is with Magic Eggs! I wouldn't be surprised if they can be bread normally by the next Bring Em Back event though
The Lost Island (+2000 eggs, total 4000): This is a bonus island that you will be able to populate and decorate like any of the other ten island. Presumably it will be the same size as an empty Easter Event Island, though it may not occupy the exact same space. We'll have to wait til someone to complete the event to find out!
So, if you wanna get 'em all, you are going to need to collect a total of 4,000 Magic Eggs!
The following activities can get you Magic Eggs:
- collecting from habitats (DC or Gems, 2 eggs each, caps at 40) - collecting Treats (2 eggs each, caps at 40 eggs) - tapping party hats when visiting your friends (only one party hat of the three will have eggs. 4 eggs per hat, caps at 20 eggs. so you only need to visit 5 friends) - clearing natural obstacles on an island (2 eggs per obstacle?) - competing in the Colosseum (25 eggs for Gold, 20 Silver)
You can also purchase Magic Eggs from the market:
The following activities do NOT get you any Magic Eggs: - bush grinding (or building and selling any decoration) - adding Habitat - racing on the dragon track - feeding dragons - breeding dragons - placing dragons in a breeding spot - hatching dragons - spending gems

Questions and Answers from the BFS Facebook page -
OMG. Is it enough to be an intense player or do you have to buy stuff to get all the nice things? (bfs) Visiting Friends, competing in the Colosseum, clearing clearables, collecting cash and collecting food is all you need to earn eggs
is there a daily limit on egg collecting? (reply from another user) - It's 125... 40 from habs, 40 from treats, 20 from friends, 25 from Colosseum gold (reply from BFS) - Y'all are super clever The wizards can't reveal all the details. That's all I'll say on this subject!
I have updated and collecting eggs, but every time I try to collect eggs from friends parks the game crashes and closes down, very frustrating. (bfs) This could be due to a few reasons - if you are using an older device, it may not be handling your friends parks very well especially if your friends have a ton of dragons and decorations! If you'd like us to take a closer look, please email us at support@backflipstudios.com
Here's a question, why is it that everytime I try going into my friends list to collect gems or check news that my game doesn't open it but closes the whole game? Has done for 3 weeks now, not happy! (bfs) HI! We're just beginning to see this issue. I recommend visiting all your friends at once - so leave your park, go visit 3 or 5 or 10 friends and THEN go back to your park. If you visit and return to your park each time, we're seeing some players having problems here. Also another thing to try is to wait in the park you're visiting for 60 seconds or so. If you'd like, shoot us an email with your GC or FB ID and we'll get you those eggs
I play so much that after about 2 hours they are all gone. That's not far if I play more I should be able to get the prizes faster (bfs) It is an egg hunt! There is a limit to how many eggs you can collect each day - if you aren't collecting a lot you are likely coming close to the maximum.
Why doesn't the perch of kairos affect the event? (bfs) It will affect the event in that you can find eggs when collecting cash and food - so if you speed up time, that will speed up food and cash production!
Oh yea I tried visiting a friends island, but when I got back same # of eggs. Strange (bfs) We are just beginning to see this - read above for instructions and shoot us an email so we can get you those eggs!
I have a question pls. I just got this update today and collected 121 eggs. I traded in for the first item (don't recall what it was called) that cost 80 eggs according to the info yet my egg count went down to zero. Why was this? Thank you! (bfs) Great question! This is because the remainder of the eggs, so 41, were contributed toward the next reward. Hope that helps!
how long will the event last? And is it possible we will see weekend events where Magic was doubled like we did with the Light and Dark Event? Amazing work BTW! Ovalith is beautiful and one of my new favorite dragons (bfs) The event will last for a few weeks. Definitely continue to keep an eye out here and in game for Word from the Wizard as the end approaches! Same advice for Double Egg weekends - if they happen, check in here! Ovalith is pretty gorgeous, isn't it! Glad you're enjoying it!
Might not be. You have to download an update for this one (I'm still downloading mine, so I can't give any deets yet!) The app store didn't alert me to the update, I had to go find it. Might try going about it that way?

Thanks for this reminder, Lemmyloop!

So, from what I can gather, it's just like Magic. You do stuff (buy food, visit friends and tap hats, collect DC). But instead of "Magic" being the currency, it's eggs. You trade in the eggs for prizes. We'll update one of the saved topics above with the list of 6 prizes. The prizes are awarded to you in order, from lowest to most expensive. So you can't hoard and go for the big one. It does not appear as though there is a community event (scripted or not) for this event.
Bush grinding (sounds dirty, but you know what I mean) does not appear to work. As we learn more about what scores eggs, and what does not, we'll update one of the saved topics above.
They give you 50 free eggs to start with, and I was able to collect about 25 more eggs before they stopped giving them to me. It's very similar to the magic event where you can only collect a certain number each day.
Turning in those ~75 eggs filled up the bar (to about 95%) beneath the first prize, which is what I assume is just a decoration.

No update available on Kindle or smartphone yet, not fair.
Please can you tell us what we're missing...
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...
Might be the update just hasn't made it to those devices' stores yet. It's frustrating waiting when you know everyone else is diving in. I've managed to download the update but CameCenter isn't letting me into my park! Looks like we'll just have to be patient a bit longer. (Oh poo I'm no good at patient)
Growing and harvesting Sarjin Pepper gave me 2 eggs in the first round per harvest. Tried again, got eggs on every second farm, tried again, got no eggs. Seems to be some sort of repeat counter. Planted and sold a bush - no eggs. Good!

How did you get those eggs? I got some growing treats and simply collecting cash.

So it looks like the # of eggs you get is fixed per activity, with gradually diminishing returns. In other words, it sounds like collecting treats will always get you 2 eggs or 0 eggs. As you collect more and more food, you'll get 0 eggs more and more often.
Collecting party hats is 4 eggs.
Collecting DC is 2 eggs.
