The Firefly Festival

I'm collecting up til the very last moment! I only have 4 fireflies to go to get my max for the day! I'm going to end with 1387-1391 fireflies, which is great! I didn't get the tower, but honestly, I'd rather have those 278 gems.

I waited for the event to end like an IDIOT before turning in the prize, seeing as I already got the gloaming gate from the glitch, and greedily wanted the 30 extra gems I had alotted past the tower, and I thought maybe I'd get the gems unlike others, if I waited.
I opened up DV after the event ended...
AND NO TOWER OR GEMS!

I EARNED THE TOWER BUT WAS NOT GIFTED.

The Firefly Festival is officially over now.

It had its ups, and it had its downs, and sometimes it made our parks spin around, but in the end we earned rewards, a testament to playing hard.

I had 2 more fireflies to collect from my habitats before the timer reset, so I left it until the very last moment to turn in my fireflies. I only had 15 extra at the end, so my missing 3 gems isn't as big a deal as many others' here.

Sorry to hear of your situation, BigZ! Hope BFS gives you your tower at least.

The trick to saving anything is not to spend
If you earn 5 gems a day on average, spend no more than 4. The extra one will slowly build up. If you earn 20 gems a day on average, spend no more than 10.

Don't speed up food
Only speed up breedings if they have less than an hour or two to go before sleep claims you.
Only speed up hatchlings if you need the space urgently.
Don't speed up buildings. The extra earnings for a few hours extra really aren't worth it.
Don't level up dragons with gems. The food WILL come.
Make the occasional karma purchase

Delay necessary gem purchases until there is another benefit. I bought several habitat upgrades, and upgraded my storage tower during the festival. That way I got ffs for my gems as well as something useful

Set a goal. For some time, my primary goal has been to be able to afford to buy ANY dragon. I had just made it in my big park when they announced e ff festival. Now I need another thousand or so gems again. Oh well. Something to strive for.

Yup. The same thing happened to me... RL interfered at the critical juncture, as I was ready to turn in the ffs. By the time I got back to DV, the event had finished.

In park1, there were 2701 ffs to turn in. Minus 1650 for the tower, leaves 1051 ffs, divided by 5 equals 226 gems. Unfortunately having got the gloaming stone at the beginning, there's no sign of tower or gems.

In park2, 2736 ffs minus 1650 equals 1086 divided by 5 for 242 gems. However, BFS has only gifted 218.

I feel a couple of tickets with customer service may be in order.

You may want to check my maths, and then check your gem gifts......


My maths is appalling... in park2 the gem prize was exactly right. In park1 I'm owed 211 gems. Now I need to go brush up on my 5x table.....

BigZ if you look at the top right of your post there is a settings icon with a down arrow next to it. If you click on it, there's a drop-down list of options including delete post.

I turned nothing in on my baby park and got the Dawn Edifice, Dawn Pedestal and 145-ish gems gifted when I logged back in after the event was over.

I believe that if you did not, it was a bug and you should contact Backflip about the issue.

Thanks. Wasn't do-able on mobile, I just had to change to desktop version and then I could see it. Post deleted and original post edited now. (I just had anger-induced typos)

Ugh. Dat tower doe. stinks to be us right now, Flutterbye. Hopefully BFS will be able to fix this.
Also I'm realizing I also missed out on the final animation by waiting. I wanted to see the moon light up on the gate, along with the illuminated sun. Anyone know if you can see the final animation on YouTube or anywhere? If can't have my tower... at least I could see it finish in some way...

Yup. Sent an email half an hour ago. I'm just worried that they won't be able to fix it.
I assume my ffs count will be visible to them in data, but I was also smart enough to take a screenshot of my final ffs number with island-completion visible. Not that that will probably make a difference... but it was all I had the power to do. (took the screenshot because I thought I might not be rewarded the proper gems... never imagined not getting the tower...)

I turned in my FF's with only five minutes to spare. I received the tower, the gloaming stone, and about 40 gems for my extra FF's. I did purchase FF's during the first double weekend because, as others have mentioned in the past, I have enjoyed playing DragonVale for several years and I probably owe BFS an occasional payment for for the pleasure of playing this game every day.
I hope everyone got what they wanted from this event! And hopefully the glitches some have experienced will be resolved soon. Some have mentioned receiving the gloaming gate. Is that true or did they mean the gloaming stone? I was hoping the gate would be available too, but I never saw a reference to that in any BFS info.
One of my favorite things about this event was the nod to the Firefly tv series. I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this. I've only seen, I think, one other reference.
The Dusk Dragon description says, ... "the dusk dragon moves as fluidly as the eventide, like a leaf on the wind. The first known account of this celestial creature was written by the brave adventurer Mal'Gorram, whose poignant exclamation still holds true, Shiny!" I love that! For those who are unfamiliar with this cult classic, it is available on netflix and amazon.

Wow, that stinks! I'm sure BFS will be able to sort you out, though. They have to.

It seems like only people who got the Gloaming Stone prematurely are having these issues. Is that correct? If so, their support is probably being swamped by tickets right now.

Any extra fireflies that were not enough for the next prize would be converted into gems at an exchanged rate., but I can see you had just enough Fireflies to collect the Celestial habitat. Although for the inconvenience I've added a few gems to your park.

I have been wondering! When we had the valentine embellishment to the breeding island a select few of us with not upgraded EBI's were left with a pink haze of pixels. I am now with my lovely stash of firefly gems going to finally upgrade my EBI. Any guesses what might happen? It's just I have got quite attached to the pink haze

Even though I didn't get the Tower, I thought the event was quite fun. My kids had a blast on their given devices as well. My son was only allowed play on my DH's phone once a day and he still managed to get quite a few of the prizes (just missed out on the Dusk Dragon). Thanks to Blah for sharing the DV FF Google Sheet to track! Had I had been paying attention and had that at the outset, I probably would've scored the tower. But, the >200 gems received was a very nice consolation prize.

The twilight sky was quite lovely - I'll miss that. Trying to get used to the blue sky and clouds!

I enjoyed playing the Firefly Festival. BFS has been very fair. I actually think they have been very generous on this event. For Park 1, I got the Tower and 45 gems after spending about 600 gems. For Park 2, I did not get the Tower but got 239 gems. I spent less than 100 gems for Park 2. I did not purchase fireflies in either park.

at least you had the presence of mind to take that screen grab. I don't even have that for evidence. But... how can they say you did not complete it?

Perhaps they are being swamped... I don't want to lose my tower and gems......

It's possible that the premature gloaming stone glitch made it so that ffs don't process that you had them unless you turned them in for a prize, making it seem as though we only got the habitats amount ff...
it would be hard to send the tower to EVERYBODY claiming that they missed out on it, but potentially they could send the tower to people claiming they missed it, who ALSO display the amount of having perfectly landed on a prize. Probably one or two people who happened to actually perfectly land on a prize would profit and get a reward they didn't deserve if they lied about missing the tower... but that's better than TONS of people like you and me not getting a prize that they really did earn.
I'm gonna send an email if I don't hear back in another couple hours (already replied to the last one).
I'm sure he's aware by now that I can't be lying, as tons of others must be claiming to have missed out, and displaying they had exactly "1,650" to go.

I'm thinking that they'll realise that this seems to be an issue for players who received the Gloaming Stone with the first reward, so hopefully they'll have a way of tracking the players who did actually have enough fireflies for the Twilight Tower (and maybe the missing gems as well).

My advice at this point would just be to send off an email to BFS letting them know if you received the Gloaming Stone when you received the Dawnbreak Edifice, as well as how many remaining fireflies you had in your counter before the timer ran out.
