Extremely annoyed. We have 24 days, lets say 200 a day, which is 200x24 which is 4800. An extra 200 for each day of a dbl weekend (3 days long so extra 600.) that would need 2 dbl weekends I suspect. Of course I don't have the gems to get to 40 every day. Nor do I have wifi for 10 days. Please tell me I can get DV without wifi, please. Using 4G? Anything?

Firstly it's uncalled for these events are boring me now, can't they just release BREEDING dragons for once, couldn't they have made dusk something like solstice + equinox and dawn, the two eclipses? Secondly I really can't be bothered to do this, again. For 24 days. Secondly they're gonna make the tower money, so I doubt I'll get that sounds like a lose lose scenario.

Ok, first day roundup. Assuming that I don't have any obstacles to clear, that's 180 possible + 250 tutorial - 275 for the Dawnbreak Edifice. That should leave me with 155 at the end of the day correct? Can anyone else confirm?

Could it be that you maxed out regarding hatching/selling dragons ? I bred a plant and sold it which gave me 2 ffs ! But when you've already earned 40 ffs for dragons you just have to wait till the next ff freshup.

If you're gonna bridge the difference with gems, it's a better idea to save up and then spend 40 on doubled days only for 80 fireflies.
I'll go with your 30 days, which would make 140 * 30 = 4200 Then you would need to spend 40 gems on 5 double days, yielding 80 * 5 = 400 fireflies
Which is 4600 total... so you could get the Tower for "just" $10 if you buy that option on a double day. Still pretty expensive for what is essentially a background texture swap.
DragonVale Wiki is reporting that Sun element dragons can now breed with Moon element dragons. Anyone tried that yet? How does it work?
Haven't tried it with this release, but this is something BFS said will eventually be possible. To be able to breed epic dragons together from incompatible habitats.

People are also complaining about how LONG it takes to breed the new dragons they release because of the long fails. Those would have long fails.
I think we are beginning to see why they are considering a Dragonvale 2. they can't win with an established game.
Personally, I am thankful for how the gem spending is working. When you use gems to have in-game effect, it gives you fireflies! Instead of just spending gems to gain fireflies, you gain BOTH the in-game effect AND the fireflies. I'm spending gems more freely than I -ever- have before. And getting the benefit of the speeded up breeding, etc.
Personally, I am really enjoying this event so far.
ETA: Ember dragons give 20 fireflies. So I sold two out of my nursery and I'm maxed out on Egg fireflies. (I am still trying for Dream and got these as Dream fails)

I'm enjoying the event too. I like that the use of gems helps. I do hope the math works out so people can get the top rewards without paying cash. I'm willing to buy an item if it has a price tag rather than making it look like we might be able to earn it. I'll probably buy some eggs during this event to support. Or fireflies for my daughter if it looks like I'll earn the tower and she won't.
More notes on hatching dragons: 10 for Ash, 2 for Cactus, 20 for Swamp.
Love the daddy Sun post; I was thinking it should be POTMed too.

As of 8:45 Eastern (US) this Friday morning, the FFs weren't being doubled. Can we conclude that Friday is not a double-FF day, or does the doubling usually begin late in the day on Fridays for events like this? I.e., should we wait until much later to gather the bright bugs?

It usually begins later and I'm not sure I expect it to happen this first weekend.
ALSO: If they do things differently. Instead of double dragons they may change the interval that new fireflies are released. Like when the game first started, it was "New fireflies will be released in 14 hours" How about if on weekends they release new fireflies every 12 hours instead of every 24? Still doubled -- but you don't get twice as many for every action.

But the downside is, the exchange rate is pretty bad. Thinking back to the magic event, you got 30 magic for 5 gems, which is 1:6. With this it's 1:1.
I don't have any limiteds left to breed for at the moment, and I'm not too happy about "having" to use hundreds of my gems to speed up normals. Waste of gems IMO — I have all the time in the world to get them anyway.

The event literally just started. I don't think they're going to start with the double weekends right away.
Will they tell us when a double FF period is starting. I have 3 epics in my nursery due out this evening, have summer and bronze in my cave and island so no need to clear the nursery. Wondering if I should wait until Sat am to hatch my eggs and get double fireflies!

And sure, I don't NEED anything in a hurry. But I'd like a second Hydra and a second Victory and I don't even have my first Dream yet. And if I checked the Dragonarium I'm sure I'd find other dragons I can work on. So I guess some of it is just an attitude. I can still find ways to have fun in the game and I'm LOVING this event. Its a neat change. And I love the dark background. (So does my son, who saw it this morning when he woke up while I was doing my morning sweeps)
I'm having a mixed reaction to this event. I love the concept of dawn/dusk and the sky and prizes are lovely, but the second I started gathering fireflies I literally felt the anxiety rising up. I guess that must be the addictive element. Must plant more dragon snaps! Must visit friends-now! Spend gems, speed up; slow down - don't clear everything at once! Remember, it's supposed to be fun... no one is forcing you to play... my brain fairly unsuccessfully tries telling itself. Wasn't it just the other day that I was obsessing over glittery little pixels and here they are again?
Personally, this doesn't significantly change my daily play-style, so I find the whole thing rather low stress.
The only major alterations are growing a few extra batches of treats and I now have an incentive to speed up breedings that I would normally just wait out.
I'll probably chip BFS at least $5 during the first Double Firefly day as a thank you, which will conserve a few gems in the process too I suppose.
I sped up a ruby, which gave me the remaining gem spend, and the max 40 ffs in one swoop. I'm liking this event so far-my saved resources actually mean something

You collect magiceggs fireflies by tapping things and then turn in the magiceggs fireflies for rewards. It is pretty much the exact same thing again.
