DragonVale Wiki is reporting that Sun element dragons can now breed with Moon element dragons. Anyone tried that yet? How does it work?
Haven't tried it with this release, but this is something BFS said will eventually be possible. To be able to breed epic dragons together from incompatible habitats.
I can confirm that this is now possible. For anyone wanting proof, check out Sollie and Luna in my cave. It seems to be a hail, and the sandbox confirms this change to breeding, even if the new rules are not totally implemented

Currently breeding for whatever twins I can possibly get my hands on
Guest: This is a different event from Magic. It isn't working the same way so there is no reason to think the conversion rate would be the same.
You collect magiceggs fireflies by tapping things and then turn in the magiceggs fireflies for rewards. It is pretty much the exact same thing again.
Hey,
Yeah, the basic mechanics are the same for this, the egg hunt and the magic hunt, but in each case they have tweaked the rules as to what activities get the new currency, how much, daily caps etc. I think what von is trying to say is that a new event has new rules, so we can't rely on what happened last time

This is Buffy. Cannt log on the forum with my iPad. Rion, the Dawn egg pedestal costs 180 Ffs.
Doesn't the Dawn egg pedestal cost 275 fireflies? But it looks like both egg pedestals have a 180-gem price tag when you look at them in the prize list, although they can't be found in the market. I wonder if this is a sign that the egg pedestals will be available in the market at a later date? This is a little confusing...

Well, fair enough. I guess that is true. The total numbers you needed to collect during the magic event were a lot higher.
And it's good that your saved resources can actually make a difference this time around.
I still think requiring 20+ minutes of grind each day and hundreds of gems is a bit much.
As of 8:45 Eastern (US) this Friday morning, the FFs weren't being doubled. Can we conclude that Friday is not a double-FF day, or does the doubling usually begin late in the day on Fridays for events like this? I.e., should we wait until much later to gather the bright bugs?
In previous events, the double Friday started at 12:30 pm Eastern. I will wait until 12:30 before I 'catch' today's fireflies.
I just got 18 fireflies for hatching an electrum, then used 3 gems to speed up a coral which I hatched into my hibernation cave and only got 3. I'm pretty sure I have only sold one other coral this time period so don't understand how I missed out on my ff have decided not to keep anything back so have a ruby to hatch this evening and worrying I won't get the ff.
It usually begins later and I'm not sure I expect it to happen this first weekend.
ALSO: If they do things differently. Instead of double dragons they may change the interval that new fireflies are released. Like when the game first started, it was "New fireflies will be released in 14 hours" How about if on weekends they release new fireflies every 12 hours instead of every 24? Still doubled -- but you don't get twice as many for every action.
I believe the first day reset after only 14 hours because the event didn't start until approximately 10 hours into the day. This way they were able to launch the event when a lot of people were online and awake and still release more fireflies every night like they have in the past with magic and magic eggs.

Gem friends are full. But I love seeing new parks!
Still need: cyclops, snowy silver, arbor, bouquet, dream, sprout
I find this event to be harder to keep track of than the magic or egg events simply because you can't redeem FF's until you are eligible for the next prize. With the other events, you could very easily set your count to 0 at the beginning of each day so you knew exactly how much you had left. Also, with those events, it seemed easier to obtain the max currency (magic or eggs) for each action. For example, I could usually obtain all eggs with 1 sweep through my park. I can't do that with this event. It takes me multiple sweeps though out the day. So it is not only hard to keep track of how many FF's I have for the rest of the day, but also how many I need to collect for each action.
EDIT: BIG thanks to Bloodstone and crumble608 for organizing all the info and making calculations for this event.
There is an "Instructions" tab that should explain most of how it works. It is pretty rough so if you see calculation errors, please let me know.
EDIT: You must have a Google account and be logged in to make a copy for your own use.

In the past, it seemed the new "day" of being able to collect magic or eggs didn't start until you logged on. I meant to mention I liked that aspect of this as well -- everyone is getting the same number of days of collecting and not losing time because you are sleeping, etc.

Having got several 24 and 48 hr breeds, I have decided that life is too short to worry about these special events. I'll be playing as normal (ish) and will probably buy some ffs at some point.
If I get the rewards, so be it. I will not stress over every f2f every day.
The firefly song:
I wish I was a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum; Cos how can you be grumpy When the sun shines out yer bum!?
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...

Very nice--thanks for sharing
Looking around and enjoying life!
All Dragons are safely in their habitats or in the HC

Yes, but it also meant that you could lose entire days hour by hour if you didn't always log in at the same time.
By the way, is this still the case or do the resets happen at static times now? I actually stayed up for the reset yesterday, but in the long term adjusting my sleep schedule to a mobile game seems a bit unwise.
Personally, this doesn't significantly change my daily play-style, so I find the whole thing rather low stress.
The only major alterations are growing a few extra batches of treats and I now have an incentive to speed up breedings that I would normally just wait out.
I'll probably chip BFS at least $5 during the first Double Firefly day as a thank you, which will conserve a few gems in the process too I suppose.
This is exactly how I am playing. Nothing has really changed from my daily routine except that maybe I'm checking in more frequently. Oh and also I'm spending my gems instead of hording them like some sort of squirrel.

Same thing here, except that I'm somewhat more willing to spend gems to speed things up. And if I buy, it will be towards the end.
The only thing I really don't like it not being able to easily see at a glance how many fireflies I've gathered that day by clearing my total first thing in the morning/last thing at night, and again, it not being crystal clear up front whether or not the final prize was going to cost money (and how much). But since the last event was like that too, meh, I can live with it.
Love love love the new sky! Got my Dawn pedestal this morning, but I suspect I've collected most of my daily ff quota in that process, as they're barely trickling in now.
And for those expecting a double weekend starting today--not if they follow the pattern set by the first two events. In both cases, the first weekend wasn't doubled. So I'm not holding my breath.

I love it adds a deal of interest whilst trying for last few dragons. Love the graphics and the video on Facebook is a great tempter to work on the game.
