Last Call is open! Cold + Dark + Earth + Fire!
Oh man, the competition for Leathery was fun, but seems like it went by too quickly! I guess it's time to set up a new competition. What will be the next dragon? We had Sprout and Leaf for the spring and summer, maybe there will be a new fall/autumn limited? Time to sign-up!
The LAST CALL competition is a race to be the last person to breed the next rare or epic dragon. The "winner" (the last person in the race to breed said dragon) receives at least a gem from all the participants; a meager reward for the pain of being last.
Rules:
- All participants agree to pledge at least one gem into the competition pot. Participants are welcome to pledge more than one gem. Participants send out their gems when the winner is announced.
- To register for the contest, you must post in this thread, include your current park level AND your GCID. Participation is reserved for members of this DragonVale Community, who access DV friends via GameCentre. (Apologies to Android users).
- All participants promise to constantly use at least one breeding site for the competition. If a participant has only one breeding site, it must be used constantly for the competition. If you don't already have the required parents when the combination is announced, it is acceptable to use your breeding site to breed them.
- If you make a mistake at some point and put the wrong dragons to breed, it is your responsibility to buy out your mistake, because you must always be trying for the sought dragon in at least one site.
- If you get caught by someone not breeding in at least one site and you get reported, you get DQd.
- Have fun
- Be honest
- Koala
Mechanics:
- Announce your participation by replying to this thread. Please include your GCID and current park level, without which I won't add you to the competition.
- Someone on the staff will close down registration and declare the competition started when a qualifying dragon is released and minimum level requirement has been determined. If no one from the staff has declared the competition started, then it hasn't started yet. (It's important that this competition be triggered only by the correct type of dragon.)
- Anyone that does not meet the minimum level requirement once registration has been closed will be removed from the contest.
- Please modify your inbox preferences so that you are notified by email when you receive a forum PM. I use PMs to get in touch with participants. If I can't get a hold of you by PM, I will resort to emailing your personal account.
- Reply to this thread when you have successfully bred the sought dragon.
- This competition is self-policed; by including your GCID with your registration, participants can visit each other's parks and check up on each other.
- If another, shiny, limited dragons comes out and you want to focus on breeding it, you can withdraw from this competition. But you are still expected to pay your pledge of gems when the competition ends.
- We've been asked more than once if buying an egg disqualifies a participant from the competition. The answer is, it depends This competition is all about breeding. So technically, buying the egg does not disqualify you. However, what concerns us is that everyone gets the same fair chance to win/lose this competition. Therefore, if you want to buy an egg, make a post in this competition thread so that everyone knows that the egg on display in your park was purchased (and not bred). If you do not announce your egg purchase, and a mod or a participant reports an egg on display in your island, we will have no choice but to assume that you bred the dragon, and we will move you over to the loser list.
- You cannot buy and hatch the dragon and remain in the competition.
- Stuff happens: RL, exams, family stuff, vacations, internet outtages, broken iPod/Pad/Phones, whatever. When stuff happens, and you can't keep up with this competition, the right thing to do is let us know so we can withdraw you. Who knows, maybe some folks will feel inspired to send you sympathy gems. But it's better than getting DQd and possibly causing others frustration.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the Leathery pledges, I am going to say that it's okay. Please keep in mind that you must 1) have made one of those crazy pledges, and be 2) actively paying off said pledge. Also, I guess there's also another part. 3) If you're GC/social menu is having trouble, then contact a mode/admin. This shouldn't preclude you from entering, but we'd like to know! That way we can see if we can help out somehow.
To simplify the pledge recording, the following shorthand styles may be used:
Darcy —> one to each player still in after the enemy gets theirs
wapatango —> Darcy pledge repeated for each subsequent dragon
Lemmy —> reverse Darcy. 1 gem to each person already a loser when the nominated person gets theirs
Buffy —> 1 gem to the winner. One gem to the loser immediately after the nominated person
Boring —> one gem to the winner
