In response to alderist post (three up)....I fully believe the DragonVale-BackFlip people would do for their players as well as give us a proper goodbye. They are a talented bunch and have given us a top of the line fantastic game. They would have DragonVale Xmas spirit even after they found out they would be jobless by Christmas.🎄
I'm not so sure about Hasbro though. Is it "nice" of them to let the game run or are they doing a PR move to stave off some of the back lash that is happening and they had to know would come when the word got out they were going to pull the plug. They have been around a long time and this isn't their first rodeo.

Q to those who follow various socmed sites; is the demise of DV and Hasbro greed in this, being talked about, or does everyone just roll with it these days? I’m curious about how much/little reaction there has been. Thanks for any info 🐲

I'm reading a lot of back and forth on a fb breeding group. A good percentage of people are in denial. No matter what others say they insist there is no proof that Dragonvale will close its doors. Some posters are chastising players for giving up on the game and spreading false information that will ultimately cause the game to end because it causes players to stop supporting the game. I feel bad. It's like being the one to tell the kids there's no Santa Claus. Besides you can't make people believe what they don't want to believe. You can't cloud issues with facts it does no good. As a matter of fact studies prove that the more facts you throw at people the harder they hold on to their incorrect beliefs. Maybe that's why Habro is playing this thing close to the vest. I guess until they make an official announcement you can't blame people for believing anything is possible. So in answer to your question there is plenty of reaction it's just not everyone is united on what they are reacting to.
I'm seeing the same denial in the discord channel too, many people are sure the game will stay up and running indefinitely. I think it more likely it will run without support until the end of the winter event, and sometime around March Hasbro will look at the costs of running the server, what type of staff is required to keep prior events cycling through, and I would not be shocked if we get a message around that time that we have one month left. You can't continue to run and collect money without a support team to handle issues, so they either shutdown or stop collecting money and run at a loss.
The other option is that they hire on a small part of the staff under the Hasbro name, and keep the game running in some form with less changes. I sure hope that happens, but we've seen nothing to indicate that is the future. With all the uncertainty many players have stopped spending (or playing), if they had concrete plans already to keep it going they would have told us about it.
Yep. I have been a spender until we heard this might happen. I haven't purchased anything during the event just finished...there was actually no need to. I had more than enough candy to purchase every new dragon and it's costume and pedestal. In fact, my gems are piling up now, lol. With all the uncertainty, and with no new dragons to spend gems speed breeding on (blushes profusely), and having all the dragons already, there really isn't anything else to use them on.

If Hasbro allows DV to operate after Xmas, or have a Xmas event with new content, I don’t see this as a PR stunt. I think they’re just making whatever profit they can before the DV ship finally sails off into the sunset.
Hasbro is a huge company, and companies that size can definitely be problematic. As far as their part in DV’s fate, they probably could’ve advertised DV more or created more plush dragons (I would’ve purchased that!) among other things. But I don’t expect any company to keep their subsidiary open if it’s not making money or losing money. Nevertheless, I can certainly understand the ill-feelings people may have toward Hasbro or other large companies.

Due to a potential limit on the number of friends a player can have before issues arise in the game, I will only be able to add Forum members. Thank you, for your understanding, and please consider joining us!

I wonder if this is why the past couple of events have been so easy to get everything you want and more without spending real money, they don't want people outraged by spending a lot of money on their park just before it all disappears. Maybe they're being ethical, knowing people wouldn't be getting good value if they spend rl$ on the game, but this way they don't have to make a public announcement of what will happen.
What I'll be so sad to see end is this forum... It's always been a beacon for the lost!
That said, I find it kind of distressing that a game for peaceful dragon breeders (who don't even slay knights) can be rated a losing venture as compared with war simulators and fierce Wall-Street competition games.

HEY, you’re not getting rid of me and my Mods that easily!
Sorry I have been MIA of late. The combination of Thanksgiving day just happening to land on my birthday (a milestone... yay, Medicare!), what with all of those candles lit atop a bird of gigantic proportions almost required the services of the local fire volunteers. Good thing I know them all and they’re always hanging about! It was a delightful day which turned into days as befitting someone of my advanced years. Savoring every minute, literally!
I am hereby locking this thread with the hopes that by the next Hallows we may start a brand new one. Still holding out hope that one of the original creators of the game invested their sale proceeds wisely and with their deep pockets buys back their creation from Hasbro. Christmas miracles have been known to happen! In the meantime, on Kiwichris‘s suggestion I have unlocked OM OF NOMS 2018 to recycle it for 2019.
At the risk of no one agreeing with me, I have to say. I think this event is incredibly boring, with the bingo cards and unbreedable/unclonable dragons. Thought they had learned something from previous events, apparently not. Maybe I am not going to miss this game as much when they pull the plug then, as I would otherwise. Looks to me like they have been trying this for a couple of years now, to make us hate it so we quit.
Hey maybe I have just gone to the dark side, where I usually live now, or I might be right.
I understand how you feel. You’re not going to miss the annoying event mechanics and the frustrating moments, neither am I, no players will miss that. But you will miss the adorable dragons, the anticipation of breeding, daily visits to your park, the excitement of new events, the accomplishment of a complete Dragonarium, the thrill of finally breeding that elusive dragon, and the wonderful friends you met through DV. And in the end, if all that outweighs the frustration, you will miss the game.
Of course you are right, as always. This game is a huge part of my life, it will leave a huge empty gap if it just disappears. I think I am going through the 5 stages of griefing, which happens to people when someone dies. I just went through them in the wrong order, because we are not really losing a person. Already went through anger and now I am in denial accompanied with depression.
Wish they would give us more time and maybe, just maybe make the enhanced dragons available. 😸
