The DragonVale Community Forum has a new posting policy. For most threads, only members will be able to post and reply. There will still be some threads open to guests, including Friend Requests, Cooperative Requests, and Rate a Dragon.
Over the last couple years, we have received a number of concerns and complaints. We tried to address the problem with a variety of different strategies, but it has not been fully successful. This new policy should resolve the issue.
Eventually, we would have reached this point. The Forum was the only DV community that allowed anonymous posting. All other sites require a membership, signing-up, or an account. Allowing open posting put the Forum in a vulnerable position with spam bots and trolls. To better protect the Forum and its members, we have taken this preventive measure.
IMPORTANT: Only the posting permissions have changed. All members and guests can still view the public threads, as usual.
On the Home page, you will see some new boards under the category DV DISCUSSIONS - All Active Threads
The following boards are open to all guests and members to post
• Rate a Dragon: this board contains all the current Rate a Dragon threads
• Friends Centre: Friend Requests and IDs and Cooperative Requests threads
The following boards require a membership to post
• All Things DragonVale: current event and other active DV discussion threads
• The Colosseum: Last Call and miscellaneous DV competitions
• DragonVale Gallery & Member Creativity: threads for artists, writers, musicians, and parkitects to share their talents and masterpieces
• DragINN: off topic conversations and friendly chatter
• Spoiler Lounge / DV Spoilers: to see this category, board, and its contents, you will need to be a member and join the Spoiler Group

For example, if you don’t want to see all the Rate a Dragon threads (there will be ten for this event!), click on the board that has the threads you’re interested in reading, and Rate a Dragon won’t show. Expired threads are moved to the Reference Desk, so they will not appear on the active boards as well.
Apologies for any inconvenience the new policy may cause. We believe this is a necessary step, as our community continues to expand and thrive. In addition, it will allow us to better help players through messages and other Forum features, and protect the Forum and its members from any unwanted activity. Thank you, everybody!

I think it's for the better. Especially with the community growing as it is, there would have to be ways to identify users posting on the Forum-in case there is any instance where not-so-great things are posted towards the game or other members.

Over the last couple events, we have been hosting puzzles and activities on the Chatterbox. During this time, MetaphoricalRobin, Demuncher, and samiam suggested a game thread. In response to these requests, the Game Room has been developed — a brand new board dedicated to fun!
On the Home page, under the DV Discussions category, the Game Room is listed. Click on the board and you’ll see several new threads: FIND THE…, Word Scramble, Two Word Story, and More Games, More Fun (miscellaneous games). Puzzles, activities, and challenges will be posted on these threads several times a week. Members are welcomed and strongly encouraged to post their own games as well.

The Game Room is an AMAZING idea! It’s really different from anything else on the forum. I’ve enjoyed reading through the threads. I’ll definitely be adding my two cents or rather, two words, every time I visit the forum.

To celebrate the occasion, we have some festive Forum updates!
• New Dargon icons
For last year’s anniversary, I added the Forum Age category with baby Dargon as the icon. This year, more Dargons have arrived! Adult Dargon, Elder Dargon, Dargon waving from the bush, and Dargon’s egg have replaced the final dreary, generic, office-ish icons. That’s it! All of the Forum’s icons have been updated to DV dragons / content.
On the Home page, under Forum Information & Statistics the categories: Threads and Posts, Users Online, Users Online in the Last 24 Hours, and Members are now Dargon-ised!
