A brand new haunted and thrilling Hallowe’en game is looming this way for all our members. Whitbee’s Scavenger Hunt will launch on 31 October at DragonVale’s reset!
From 31 October to 3 November, there will be an array of candy randomly hidden on the Forum for members to discover. Tomorrow, the full details of the game will be released on the new SCAVENGER HUNT thread.
SPOOKY AVATARS
To get into the haunted spirit, put a trick-or-treat costume on your avatar so it’s ready for the hunt. I’ve added 23 Spooky dragons to the Forum’s list of avatars. Here’s the full list:

To change your avatar go to Profile > Edit Profile button > Avatar tab > Use Forum Avatar > click on Pick One

Might of already been mentioned but I noticed that the Thicket dragon is available on the final day gift list, it was not in the bizarre merchant or have a green hour glass in the dragonarium.
Poor Thicket was neglected from the Candy Bash event for a second year in a row. We’ve asked for Thicket to return soon, before next Hallowe’en.
I made sure Thicket was added to the list of Forum avatars so no-one forgets him.

I love candy. I love tricks. I'm all dressed up and ready to go trick or treating. Yay! Halloween, it's a win-win. Hopefully eating all that candy will give me the energy I need to run around scavenging.

The event island will leave the Vale at the next daily reset. It’s easy to overlook the event calendar when you’re playing. Open your game now and choose your dragon, so you don’t regret missing it later.
In addition, this is the last day you can earn Candy!
Umbra will also depart at reset, and he’ll be taking his pedestal with him. (It appears the evolve Tents will remain until the event concludes.)
On a slightly more relaxing note, you have until 3 November at 8.00 AM MDT to shop at the Bizarre Merchant.
And don’t forget, the Rate a Dragon threads will be locked on 3 November, along with the poll to vote for your favourite event dragons.

Completely agree! He posted the image on Reddit a couple weeks ago, and I told him yesterday that he needs to use it today. It’s so hilariously perfect! That is exactly what an Ikatako would do on Hallowe’en.

Are we going to have a full on Thanksgiving event this year? Last year things got a late start and it feels like Halloween and Thanksgiving kind of merged into one event.
As much as I love Halloween, I'm really looking forward to seeing Deca design some Thanksgiving dragons. I don't think we've had that before so it'll be fun and interesting. So long as Punk doesn't crash the party and dance on top of the table during the Thanksgiving dinner.
There will be a new event at the end of the week. A Thanksgiving Event is a good bet. :-)
Where on earth did the melody habitats and tents go? There was no timer on them or the tents so I’d assume they’d still be available! I think someone else said that they should be available in the market after the event ended on the forum earlier, too?

I think everyone expected them to stay - especially as they didn't have a timer on them.
Do you guys think the evolution cost will turn to gems once the event is over, or can the dragons only be evolved during the event?
You’ll be able to evolve dragons after the event. It will cost 100 gems.

PSA: Early departure of the Melody Habitats and 10 Tent decorations
The Melody Habitats and 10 Tents left the Limited tier of the event market at reset, even though they did not have a timer. The reps requested they be added back. The Melody habitats have been added, but not the Tent decorations. Apparently, the Tents are 'tied' to Umbra so they cannot return.
If a park has at least one Melody habitat, the habitats are now in the Limited tier. However, if the park has no Melody Habitats, they’re currently not showing, but should be arriving soon...
I’ve suggested that in the future there should be a timer on every prize in the Limited tier so it’s clear when items are expiring. Otherwise, there’s no way players will know, and they’ll just have to guess.

It's been a while since I provided an update to my event progress, and seeing as the event is done now, I should probably get right on it.
I was able to obtain every Spooky category dragon and almost completed the event. To my great dismay, DECA introduced Melody dragons with extremely low breeding percentages. I was able to obtain Heavy Metal but not Punk or Techno. I was also unable to secure Etch, but I'm not nearly as worried about that. I obtained a grand total of 18 new dragons this event, almost completely fleshing out my Halloween collection. I'm so glad I was able to complete the first part of my path to red fire.
I'm ready for the next event. Bring it on, DECA.

NK’s update: through a combination of luck and someone a few too many gems, I have obtained all of the dragons except Etch and Corrupticorn - but Etch is permanent and I have two Chromacorns and all 10 flames, just hoping to parent clone them a couple of times before evolving. In short, I got pretty much everything I wanted and have a little to spare (might get the other Melody habitats more they’re back) That went better than expected! Thanks Deca!

I don't know when adlerist is going to lock the Dragon Rating threads, but there are several people who still need to rate Umbra. You are really leaving it to the last minute.
I had a mixed result with the event. I managed to breed or clone all of the new event dragons. Very happy about that! But the only dragon that I managed to breed that I needed with a rift trait was Kwall. I was hoping with Umbra not being breedable that I would be able to get some of the older dragons in the rift - I need quite a few, but didn't manage any more. That was disappointing.
