The Nautilus

Summer has ventured underwater, where Nogard’s new invention, The Nautilus, will take you into the deepest depths to witness the most mesmerising creatures. Enjoy the secrets hidden from the light in the safety and dryness of The Nautilus. Submerged in the watery darkness, it sheds light on the mysterious life in the deep ocean and odd, terrifying, and oddly terrifying sea dragons that land dwellers have never known. The Nautilus can be housed on your profile, forever perpetuating a deep-sea curiosity. Simply rate all the dragons before the event concludes on 25 June and unlock the unknown of the watery depths.

Since we have completed four years of Rate a Dragon, there are four previous summer awards to offer. Instead of The Nautilus, you can choose the City of Atlantis from last year’s Deepest Depths, Pyramids from Dunes of Magic, Ikatako Keg (Inconspicuous Barrel) from Pirates in Paradise II, or the Jolly Roger Dragon from Pirates of Paradise. So many options! After rating the Deepest Depths II dragons, please message me, and the City of Atlantis, Pyramids, Ikatako Keg, or Jolly Roger Dragon will be added to your profile instead.

                                                   

AWARD RULES

1. You must be a Forum member to receive an award because guest profiles are not retained.

I love this Dragon, I’m amazed that it wasn’t given a hidden element because it actually hides inside its own body to look like a jellyfish 🪼 
It would have been the first Hidden Dragon that we couldn’t complain about in a long time.

Comments/feedback for Deca: Love the animation – how it hides in its hood like a jellyfish but also flips its lid. Just fabulous. Nice combination of colours. Very creative design. If a player already owns Euryale, the breeding combo is great with only three elements and a reasonable breeding percentage. But if Euryale isn’t owned it becomes more complicated with limited dragons Ikatako, Mylio and Tidal required. It will not be an easy dragon for newer players to breed. A nice addition to the Vale and will look amazing in the Aquarium.

Comments/feedback for Deca: Beautiful jelly fish in the adult form, and the baby is adorable with the big head. I enjoy seeing the baby form in the aquarium habitat, bobbing around. Now for this one, I don't mind it being a hidden dragon since it turns into a beautiful jelly fish (without hiding 😆)

Thine cast judgment upon the

Animation: 5/5 No issues here.

Size: 4.5/5 Dousa is just a tad too small for some of the details on its hood and tentacles.

Price: 5/5 Yet again, no issues here, unlike the last two events...

Theme: 5/5 I think you get the point by now.

Design: 4/5 Although not quite as bad as Redbelly, Dousa has a few fine details that are hard to see given its size. I am also not sure why Light is in the pool of elements outside of its parent dragon.

Combo: 3.5/5 Dousa suffers from the same exact problem as Redelly; a total of four generations are required to breed Dousa without using the co-op cave to directly clone one. As a result, it can take quite a bit of time and effort to breed one from scratch.

Preference: 4/5 Dousa makes a much-welcomed appearance to the Vale.

Comments: I am in agreement with Bren here - Dousa should have been a hidden, as much as I generally dislike the addition of more hidden dragons. It is the first dragon in a very long time to hide by disguising itself as something else, rather than the usual "jump in a prop" nonsense of recent hidden dragons.

Comments:

Very creative giving it a 'hat' that's its namesake. I don't actually like the hat much, but it's such a great design, I can't complain. The colours are great and I love that the blobs are a running theme this event. It's nice when there's something simple that ties all the dragons together. PLUS - this dragon fits the Deepest Depths theme properly! Yay!

I wish it didn't use Euryale. That just feels like difficulty for difficulty's sake. Another well sized dragon. Price is also respectable. Given many people have trouble with Eggy Hatchy, I'm glad to see that.

Regarding the lack of Hidden element, I'm not a fan of overdoing it with the Epics. BUT... how did this one not get Hidden element? They literally hide amongst actual jellyfish and fold up to look like them. It's still not what I expect from a Hidden dragon (which traditionally has included body contortions into a different shape), but it's much closer to what players expect than dragons that jump into cauldrons. It would be a real shame if the next Hidden dragon jumps in another cauldron/cake.

Love the big eyes and tentacles.

I like Dousa’s 'hat', even more so when she loses it, drowns in it, and becomes the hat!

For a parent, Euryale doesn’t really fulfil the gracefulness of Dousa. But Alure + water + air would’ve worked.

I love Dousa’s design, with the long tentacles everywhere, like glamorous accessories, resembling the medusa phase of sea jellies. It captures the essence of the creature. But Dousa is not a replica. It’s inspired by jellyfish and is an original and unique dragon with double-feathered wings, layers of frill, and the removal and expansion of the umbrella. Well done, Deca!
