Yes the statues you see on islands are the shrines, when you get them they are bronze color. The metal habitat you get also at level 17 and it also costs 1 million. When you level up you will see that you can upgrade your habitats in order to fill them with more dragons. I think you first need the habitat and then buy the dragon lol. The HC can be upgraded twice, after 25 its 50 dragons and finally 100 dragons.
Just a note for the new comers... It is always good to try to get 2 of the limited dragons. So that when they are gone you can breed more of them. And when it comes to the shrine work. Take your time, you will have plenty of it when you reach the higher levels.
After just reading this.. and going to try to get the 2nd butterfly.. (thanks phibes74)
Would it be safer to just keep doing firefly+willow or.. should I do butterfly + willow?
If I do butterfly + willow.. would I still be able to get the butterfly and/or wouldn't I be able to have a chance at getting a panlong/rainbow dragon as well (4 elements?)

If you want to know all the possible outcomes for any combination, try this tool: dvcalc.pf-control.de/ Do note that it works on a mobile device in a safari browser only, I believe.
No, the butterfly + Willow will not get you Butterfly based on what I calculated. I am going to stick with the Firefly + Air combo on my EBI as I bred one in 3 tries!! koala!
Phibes, my problem is I can not tell what are the limited and what are just regular. How do you tell?
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful information.
OK, I have changed my mine. After looking at the breeding pair of GT500Girl for Butterfly, she used Firefly + Willow - which will also give me a chance for the Rainbow that I do not have yet.

Keep with the firefly willow combo.. Try flipping them that is how I got mine.. I tried a few times one way nothing flipped them and bam butterfly... And I would try for the panlongs and rainbows between updates when it is a little slower. And as far as knowing which are limited we usually know and will post it but u can also look at Dragonvale.wiki.com/wiki/eggs .
Thank you Shellee. Well I got my third island and now I have several other questions for you.
1. I just won my first Gold in the Colosseum and thought I would get a statue for it. But, I didn't so, the question is, what are the statues a reward of? Breeding?
2. For the Shrine, do all of your plant dragons have to be level 10 or do you just have to have 50 of them? How much does the shrine cost?
3. What is the fountain of youth for? It says to turn your dragons young?
That is it for now, thanks. Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday
4. I was able to breed a butterfly dragon, yeah!! Do I need to try for a second one or not?
I know these questions have been answered but I wanted to say congrats on your first gold. Always keep the colosseum going as the gems add up very quickly when winning golds and silvers. Also congrats on your butterfly dragon! Yay! You don't have to try for a 2nd but it's not a bad idea since they are limited and will be gone at some point. You never know when you may want to breed more of them for whatever reason.

Keep an eye on here...the ticker on the home page will tell if a dragon is limited and also look to the wiki dragonvale page as they will tell if a certain dragon is limited or not.

Hi--I am almost at lvl 21. I've been working on breeding to have a least one of every dragon, two of the limited. So far I've managed to get 2 Butterflies, 2 Dodos, 1 Panlong, 1 Current with either a second current or a Plasma incubating. Should I start purchasing shrines & leveling up what I have so far or keep accumulating DC & treats because I know it takes a huge number of treats to feed growing, hungry dragons. I'm switching my breeding efforts to get an Emerald & plasma/current. Should I keep the "failures" & feed them or continue to sell them for DC? Thanks for any suggestions.

Buy the shrines now because they remember dragons after you've sold them. This will help you get to Silver Shrine but won't be much help in getting to Gold. It costs just over 500 000 DC to buy the food to get a dragon to level 10. Any Dragon worth a million or more can be fed up and sold for a profit.
If your long term goal is Gold Shrines then more planning is required. If you're not fussed then just potter along and you'll get silvers eventually.

Hi Fletch,
I so do not understand this post!! Too early in the morning, LOL.
I just turned Level 18 and bought my first Plant Shrine. I bought the Hibernation Cave and have updated it once. I have been keeping all my Plant hybrids in the cave at level one to go toward my 50 dragons.
So, am I understanding you to say level the plant dragons to 10 then sell them? I am so confused!
Are you saying you only have to have the 50 dragons to level 10 then you can sell the ones you do not want and level up the others to the max gold shrine levels. Since the shrine will keep the level 10 memory? Or do you have to level the 50 up all the way?
I tried reading the information on tips and such, but so far none of it makes sense to me. Guess I could try the wiki?
Ok after reading everything about the shrines, I think I understand it. If you delete your Level 10 dragons, you have to get another set of dragons to level up to level 15 to get to the level 20? Right?
Question is then, If I have 20 Plant hybrids, then I get my Earth shrine will it automatically recognize the Earth hybrids that are already level 10?

Will try to explain: you have to breed 50 dragons having plant in their element, bring each one to level 10. Then you can sell them, and just keep those you wish. Best for plant shrine is poison, 3 hours breed and 3 to hatch and, as it has 2 elements, the dragons also count for the fire shrine. Thus, killing two flies at once. Same principle for the next shrines, find a dragon with as short as possible breed time and which will give you two elements at once.

Yes correct, but by that time you will have all the shrines and more dragons which can cover several elements and thus shrines, like the panlong for ex. Re the second question, i must admit i do not recall if not yet purchased shrines like earth, will already take earth hybrids into account. I think it does but would like an expert to confirm.

Nope, the shrines remember your dragons from the time you buy the shrine. If you sold, say, 20 Trees BEFORE buying the earth shrine, your plant shrine will remember the 20 level 10 plant dragons even if you don't have them with you, but when you buy your earth shrine it will be at zero dragons. It is best to have all shrines before starting to level up dragons, or at least, try to keep most of your dragons at the HC before selling them until you are able to purchase all shrines.
New goal: Crown 5 more dragons. Treats needed: 26,214,400. Current treats: 14,000,000

You see, i am not so sure about that, i seem to remember that i could see the future shrines in the market, although greyed out because i had not yet the required level, but they were showing the figure of already obtained level 10 dragons of that element.

I would be grateful for enlightment on this.
Yes, when they are in the market they show how many dragons they are counting, but if you sell a dragon, that number goes down. The number only sticks once you buy them.

Ah ok, thus, the best strategy is to wait until you are able to have 2 shrines, work on these with 2 elements dragons and thse you can then sell. Better solution is to wait until you can have several shrines so that you can breed multi elements dragons. Of course, the HC is almost mandatory. Gosh, all this is now almost 4-5 month behind me, hence my blank memory.
