Ok after reading everything about the shrines, I think I understand it. If you delete your Level 10 dragons, you have to get another set of dragons to level up to level 15 to get to the level 20? Right?
Question is then, If I have 20 Plant hybrids, then I get my Earth shrine will it automatically recognize the Earth hybrids that are already level 10?
Thanks.
As has been said the shrines know what dragons you have at the time you buy them. Any you sell before that aren't counted.
The thing about the shrine grind is that getting Silver Shrines is a piece of cake and will happen by itself eventually. The Gold Shrine is something you need to actively work towards, and the reason is the amount of food required. It doubles each level. ~ 10K food required to get a dragon from Level 1 to Level 10. ~310K food required to go from Level 10 to Level 15. So any dragon you get to level 10 is only 3% of the way towards Level 15. 500 000 DC to buy the food to make a Level 10 dragon. 16 000 000 DC to buy the food to make a Level 15 dragon.
25 000 000 DC to buy the food to Level 50 dragons to Level 10 and get a silver shrine. 800 000 000 DC to buy the food to Level 50 dragons to Level 15 and get a gold shrine.
It's a totally different approach.
So the Silver Shrines will take care of themselves, but getting 8 Gold Shrines takes a plan of attack. My advice to anyone below Level 25 when you get the last Shrine is to not worry about it too much. Trying to get 2 Panlongs for breeding purposes is the most important step, so use that time to try for that, whilst still get the new dragons that come out.

Two recommendations: change "and" in the second sentence to "any," and finish your post. Haw haw, I'm funny.
So basically there are three levels to shrines: bronze, silver, gold. Any dragons of that shrine's element (plant, fire, whatever the shrine is) which you level to ten will be counted by that shrine. If you then sell one of those dragons, the shrine still remembers it (if you fed fifty Plants to ten, then sold them all, your shrine would still read fifty). When you feed fifty dragons of that element to ten, the shrine turns silver.
The benefits of having a shrine turn silver are that they look pretty and that you may now feed that element dragons to level fifteen.
The benefits of having a dragon at level fifteen are that they earn you more dragon cash, and they get an orb floating over their head (any dragon above ten has the orb) (the orb is the color of the dragon's main element, and has that element's symbol inside it, though it can be hard to see).
Same thing, then, for going from silver to gold: feed fifty dragons to level fifteen (regardless of if you sell them after you level them, doesn't matter; the shrine keeps count), and the shrine changes to gold.
The benefits of having a dragon shrine turn gold are that it looks pretty, and now you can level dragons past fifteen up to twenty.
The benefits of bringing a dragon to level twenty are that it earns more dragon cash, and it gets a crown over its head.
The only difference between a shrine you have not bought and a shrine you have is that a shrine you have not bought (it's still in the market) will "forget" any dragons you have sold after levelling them up, while a shrine that you do have will "remember them" and count them toward your total. Oh, and shrines you have not bought don't look pretty or let you level dragons past ten.

Thank you all so much for explaining all this; I think I finally understand it. I have been throwing most of my fails from rare & gemstone breeding into the HC until I can think this all through. Now I'll start shifting things around and feeding some of them up to lvl 10. I do want to hang on to enough DC to buy the next island so have been taking the slow, cheaper way of growing treats. But I now understand that selling some of the dragons after they've been fed to 10 still leaves me with a profit in DC. I think I understand it better than I've explained my understanding.

Hi everyone. Ok what strategy do absolute newbies who missed bloom do for gold level shrines. Working on panglons now after we got insanely lucky with emeralds 2 out of 3 swear to god. Everything I've read assumes you can get-have blooms.

I must have a look at the OP in my Shrine Grind thread and make a few different versions with the limiteds. So what numbers do you have for each shrine? Do you have them all yet?

Nope only level 20. Still playing, decorating and working on the harder opposite ones grrr. Blue fire will be the death of us, always ice not even an iceberg consolation prize. Trying to get set up for golds, Quinn saw birdmaestro's island and can't stop talking about it.

Nice.
Well then you've got heaps of time before you need to worry about it. Concentrate on getting 2 Panlongs, along with the others, and getting to Level 25. Then you can start to think about it.

Hi there, my niece talked me into playing Dragonvale when I got my ipad. Now I am hooked. I am learning as I go. I heard there was suppose to be a tutorial when you downloaded the app but I never saw one. My niece told me the basics and I have been researching what I can. I am level 13 now, and have been breeding dragons. I would like to know at this level how did you keep up with treats? I have been using dragon snaps when I am online. I have gotten 2 dragons at 10 with this and the others are at different levels. In my goals I had to buy a boost which i did, but I don't understand if it will effect the dragons that are fighting in the Colosseum? And if you have to put a dragon in there at matches the flag. The only other problem I have now is waiting on the more expensive habitats to spawn. I usually have a egg waiting. I need a bigger lightening habitat, but I need just a lil more experience for it.
Dear inky, welcome to the forum (I'm quite new here as well!). I recommend that you level the dragons you have all instead of getting on or two at level 10. That way you are able to earn much more gold. Also depending on how often you check your park, you should prefer certain habitats over others. Earth dragons for example have a much lower earning rate than plant dragons but in total earn much more if you are only able to check every day once because their habitat is able two keep more gold. Finally you should put a dragon of the respective element in the Colloseum events. Say if it shows the plant landscape put a plant dragon, earth put an earth dragon etc. Your boost affects only the earning rate of dragon, not the Colloseum.

Thank you for the information. I know your suppose to decorate but i am putting it off til i get extra DC. You don't realize how hard it is for a woman to do that. ;D
If you want to visit my island and see my setup you can add me, my game center name is inkyichi. I would love any advice. I am able to log in several times a day so which dragons should I be hatching? I am trying to make one of everything so i can pick and chose later.

Welcome! You are at a frustrating part of the game, not enough of anything to make big moves. Add some friends and visit their islands looking for the 3 party hats. As you level up the amount of coins for each hat increases. It's a free way to get more coins for free.
Earth habitats are good to house quake dragons, which can help earn more coins.
The dragon you choose for the coliseum does need to contain the element of the day, this can include hybrids. No the boosts only effect habitats, has no effect on the coliseum.
Take your time to figure our what you want to do. There are lots of ways to play the game, no one right way.
If a dragon roars in a forrest and no one is around to hear, does it make a sound?

At this point my advice is to just slow down and enjoy the game. Before you know it you will be at a really high level with all the dragons and you'll be wondering what to do. So go slow and enjoy it.
The only advice I would suggest is to try and breed the limited dragons because obviously you will miss out if you don't.

I found this place by looking up DragonVale information. I knew there had to be a place to ask questions.
The only problem I have is there have been conflicting answers to the same questions on different websites. So I have been researching and settled on this place.

Hello inkyichi,
Welcome to the forum. You will get a pop-up window once you boot up the game or during the game. It says something like " you received a gift from xxxx, yyyyy, zzzzz and jjjjj". There is only room for 4 names and thereafter it will say "and Others". Once I get this message I will post it on the gem thread hoping someone would claim the gift giving.
