I have two questions. One, how does the 'daily gift' thing work: how often do you get eggs and which ones do you get? Two, what can you spend wishes on, and what should I spend mine on?

The daily gift is a new thing, we got a galaxy dragon at day 2, a hybrid at day 30, an epic at day 60, we are expecting a gemstone/crystalline at day 90, then the wish coming at day 100.
We expect the cycle will restart after day 100.
You can choose *almost* anything for your wish. Islands, dragons, buildings, habitats. The only things that haven't been available again are the Large/Giant Light/Dark Reward Habitats. The small habitats are available, but they can't be upgraded.

I keep seeing two strange islands in other people's parks. One has egg shaped rocks and flowers round the edges of it, and the other has golden pillars, cyan crystals and a cyan portal on it. Both islands are smaller than normal islands and in the top right area of people's parks. What are they and why are they different to the rest of the islands?

The Lost Island and the Lost Island of Olympus are event rewards that come back for purchase at BeB. The islands are quite small and sit up in the top right of the park.

First piece of advice: Don’t rush it. Enjoy each stage as you go through it, because it doesn’t take long to be looking back at jos easy things used to be. With over 400 dragons to collect, DV is a marathon, not a sprint.
Grow food and feed up dragons is a good way to earn XP. Clearing Islands, also good. In the unlikely event you have more cash then you know what to do with, buy expensive decorations, and sell them for half price. Repeat until poor.
I started in June and I'm at level 47, but I feel like I'm in a rut. My DC hovers in mid 40 million and treats at 3 million. I can't seem to generate enough coins for treats. I have 229 dragons. My dragons in the Vale are all at least 11, with some higher. Dragons in the rift are whatever level I can afford- 7 baseline and 11 primary.
What are some strategies I can try to break this cycle of being relatively cash/treat poor?
Edit: I should add that I have two Ma Goody's greenhouses and 11 treat farms which I mostly grow jelly plants and the occasional beanstalk.

I don’t know if you already do these, but here are some ideas that might be helpful. 😊
First I would be sure to buy all the elemental boosts. There is one each for water, fire, air etc. This will increase the amount of dc earned by each habitat. Be sure to group like habitats together in the same island with its boost.
if you are able to level up your primary dragons to Elder, this will release a special visitor, for each elder, into your park. Tapping the visitor will only give 20,000 dc, so I’m not sure that will be productive for you just yet.
play the free games everyday. Race track and coliseum will give treats, dc and gems.
Have more than 6 gem friends and start a rotation. A few friends will give gems/treats everyday and some a gem or food every few days. Only collect from who you give to that day and let the others accumulate until you return a gift. You might see that by the time you give a gift, there are already 3 to collect. I have about 30ish gift friends and even though I can only give out my limit for gifts, I collect around 15-20 gems each day, plus treats.
visit three friends parks everyday and collect DC from the party hats. The amount of DC goes up with your levels.
participate in quests, Kairos and Gaia, also free DC, treats and gems.
For the best dragons to use for the quests and also for the dragon races and coliseum, go to the Updated Links section of the Encyclopaedia Dracontine, found on the first page of the forum.
lastly, if you don’t have anything urgent to get, use your 100 day, log on Wishes for gemstone habitats. Extra gem income is always handy.
Also, I’m not at all sure how it works, but decorate your park. Buying decorations, laying paths, etc, increases visitors and somehow increases DC. 🤷🏻♀️ Check out the goals tab also, breed these dragons for extra bonuses

Thank you so much for these suggestions! It was very helpful. I do many of those things, but a few were new. I didn't know about the special visitor for Elders. I'll look out for that. Also, great suggestion on how to rotate giving gifts to gem friends. I've started making friends and wondered how I would keep track of gifts. I also didn't know there was a correlation between visitors and DC. I really appreciate the time you took to reply. :-)

I’m glad you found some of it helpful! 😊. I honestly don’t understand the correlation, of if one even exists, between visitors, decor and dragon cash earnings. Just remember someone mentioning it, years ago, on another forum. I like to decorate, so it’s all good for me 😆
