They give you 50 free eggs to start with, and I was able to collect about 25 more eggs before they stopped giving them to me. It's very similar to the magic event where you can only collect a certain number each day.
Turning in those ~75 eggs filled up the bar (to about 95%) beneath the first prize, which is what I assume is just a decoration.
Visited a friend and got 4 eggs from clicking the party hats. Came back and used the 4 eggs and got the first prize.
Interesting note: I completed a goal when I got the first prize (a decoration), and the "cancel" trick no longer works with Facebook. I was able to cancel out of posting to Twitter but didn't get a gem for doing it in Facebook.

How did you get those eggs? I got some growing treats and simply collecting cash.

Well glad to know that there won't be any grinding! Glad I have so many friends, I'll be able to pick up eggs from that (well at elast until the egg count from colelcting hats drops to 0)
Oh man I hope feeding does. I've got treats... if I could just log in and test it out!

Welp. That's a bummer! I mean, not going to stop me from crowning someone with all these treats. Just wish it would've benefitted this eggstraordinary undertaking.

Without doing much like collecting cash, one treat spot empty, visiting about 6 friends, i got 95 eggs which i could turn into a deco item, that violet ball on the island. Going to see if i can go on collecting or have to wait for a day ...

Visited around 12 friends and although it was showing 4 eggs being collected they were not adding to my total of eggs after I had visited around 5/6 friends (sorry, can't say exactly after how many because I didn't notice they weren't adding to the total).

Same here. I'm reluctant to uninstall, but may have to take the plunge for the team
My Kindle is on automatic updating, and I have set it to notify me when it does so.
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)

I still have the leprechaun icon for my Google Tablet and also have the app on my android but haven't received any news about this event. Had a news update about The Lunar Eclipse Dragon being back but nothing else regarding egg hunt. I am sad now I don't have Apple, seems unfair that Apple version started hours ago and everyone else misses out. I have maxed to level 55 and have all dragons but snowy gold,and am a very dedicated player but now I might just quit. No offense to all you players, but I don't like the bias being shown towards the Apple users. If it was just for Android I would feel the same way. So far there's no update for android in the store.
