I'm with you, I see the new icon and it says update, when I hit it, it goes to DV and just says open or uninstall. Going to give it a bit more time before I uninstall and reload to see if it's just the store taking a step at a time. Thoughts

As usual, whining helps. No sooner did I post than the update was pushed out to my phone. I did have to turn my phone off and back on for it to work. So far there has been no push out to my tablet.

Same here. I'm reluctant to uninstall, but may have to take the plunge for the team 

My Kindle is on automatic updating, and I have set it to notify me when it does so.

Oooh, oooh it's updating now! And working fine. Just got to wait for the Kindle now...

They replenish every 24 hours and it will get harder as time goes on.

I had 114 eggs. I traded in for the first item which is 80 eggs- my egg count is now 0. I'm not sure if I've lost the remaining 34 eggs.

You are not missing out on anything, the event will last for several weeks. Be patient, and take this opportunity to read and absorb the info posted here and strat. your game plan.
Last Light/Dark event, iOS users did not get their update much later.

I don't think that you've lost them. They must be counting towards getting the egg pedestal.

Same happened to me.
I restarted the game to see if the egg counter would update.
No, it didn't.
But then I realized that there is a loading bar underneath the pedestal egg. The bar is partially filled - so the eggs that were too much for the first prize were counted towards the next prize.

There is a progression bar underneath the farthest right egg on the new island, all eggs above what you used for the first deco are counted there.

Uninstalled and reinstalled on Android still no magic eggs. Will check later and hope to join in the fun.
Edited to say Android Users like me (with no patience) reboot your device!! Magic Egg Island is now updated. So happy!! Just realized that maybe I do put too much into my dragonvale park. But my excuse is the dragons are just so dang cute.

The stained glass blue colours appeared after I claimed the first reward. The decoration has disappeared from the island.

The lady wizard has a help which show also a tab with Prizes.
So you need:
80 eggs for the Egg of burcadia
160 eggs for the ovalith pedestal
160 eggs for the gemstone habitat
800 eggs for the first ovalith dragon
800 for the second ovalith dragon
2000 for the lost island, which is the egg island itself and you can thus keep it
Makes a total of 4000 eggs to get everything..

Yes.

Kindle hasn't updated, so it looks as though I'll be doing the annoying facebook switcheroo between parks for the immediate future. Bummer.

If the event lasts 2 weeks that means you need to collect an average of ~286 eggs every day to obtain all of the prizes. We need to figure out what is the max from each of areas of egg collection to figure out how to max the number of eggs each day.

Nope, 25 eggs isn't a limit! I accumulated over 80 by growing Sarjin Peppers twice (heh!), THEN took a dragon out of the Colosseum for a gold medal and the counter zoomed up to 99! Then I tapped the "Turn in _ eggs" button (BE CAREFUL ABOUT THIS!) and all 99 disappeared, although I got the Egg of Burcadia.

I started again and tapped the button by accident after 9 eggs, and they disappeared for nothing.

SO: DON'T tap the "TURN IN X EGGS" button till you've made an exact amount of eggs required for a prize. Because it seems to turn in the eggs anyway, and doesn't seem to count them toward the next prize.

Still discovering, anyway. When I find out how else the eggs are hidden I'll be back, promise.

Freitag, they are not lost, they add to get the next goal, ie the pedestal, look closer there, you will see a progression bar.
However,unless you count manuallyyou won t know how many more you need to complete the goal.

I deleted the app on my Kindle and reloaded to get the updated version. Playing on my Kindle now.
