Using Crumble608's awesome knowledge on the amount of ME per glass piece, I need approx 600 ME to complete the island in my second park. So with a small purchase (after I have collected all the available eggs) I'll make it in that park too.
I am also managing my Mum's park (on my husband's iPad) and she is nearly there too, I may need to help out with a top up, but it's within reach. It was my Mum that introduced me to the game, she started playing in March 2012 (a few months before me), her iPad won't load Game Center, hence she can't play DV I'd hate her to miss out on the island. We've tried everything to get it to work, but Game Center just won't load it's just a white blank screen
Anyway, for those of you torn on whether to make real money purchases... I justify spending money on pixels by comparing it with other luxury purchases. For example, going to the cinema, buying chocolate - one I especially like to use with my husband is the money he spends on beer per year (I don't drink), this one always shuts him up
Has your mom tried reloading the ipad entirely? I have to do that with my iphone occasionally when Gamecenter gets locked up.
BFS put out a questionnaire a month or two ago asking about what features we would like to see in a completely new game based on Dragonvale. Would we play it and would we still want to play the old game. That promptly fed rumours that Dragonvale, as we know and love it, was going to be mothballed in the same way that Gizmonauts (another BFS game) has been. So far, there is no evidence that it is going to happen any time soon, if ever.

Your new island is beautiful. It considerably weakens my resolve about not pungling up for one.

Thanks Poppy I admit, i have invested quite above reason in DV, but ... I do not have any other costy luxury so ... What the heck. I must say that if they replace DV with another version (more profit making for them probably) i will not turn to that and would be very very upset if they just cancel DV or delete it. Even if there is nothing to breed or add anymore, i like looking at this little fantasy world and observing all the dragons and wizards/visitors. I know, DV probably takes a lot of servers room and they could use it for some other game(s) and make the money Hasbro is expecting, but they won t have me as a customer anymore, and this would probably also be the case for other DV players.
I'm eager to see what the next game looks like. I'm perfectly happy to start over on a new game if they don't make it heavily must spend money.
If they do. I'll do something else. Nimblebit stopped supporting Pocket Frogs, but I can still play it on my iphone, for example. (OTOH it didn't go away. DV needs more hands on support)
Given that the egg hunt requires some IAP to complete, I'd assume that DV isn't going to end so soon. Imagine the backlash BFS would get if they ended DV just after players had to agonise over whether to spend real money on the game.

My brother is going to give that a try for her today, hopefully he can sort it out, it would be sad old thing if she doesn't get to play her own game any more

I agree with rion... I'm still hopeful BFS will create a portal within the existing game rather than launch a whole new game. I think there would be lots of unhappy bunnies if they simply abandoned the original version especially so soon after the latest event.

Today I have handed in all magic, & the finished collusium at 7:40, e.t. I just received a new two for one deal, offer, which is 60 ME for$0.99 & only other offer is $1.99 for 150 Magic Eggs, the timer on deal says 1 day 3 hours & 21 minutes, however my magic resets in 23 hours. I am estimating that I will have no further cost, if I only need 125 that will reset tomorrow. Those who haven't purchased yet, be advised that I paid $9.99 last Sunday for 900 ME & received 2nd Ovalith Egg & extra eggs rolled over to island prize & now I am focused on that. I have a feeling I could have had less cost if I waited it out. But both Ovalith's are gemstone dragons, so feel pretty good about my investment.
My question is (sorry if I missed it if it was already asked) for those who already scored the island prize, are you continuing to receive magic eggs or is the event over when you get the island?
I sincerly hope everyone gets the prizes you wanted. There are always additional islands to buy, but I have the max of 10 already so I really want the new island.
Happy hunting everyone!

This is annoying. I am going to end up on 1030 magic eggs for the island. This means I have to purchase both 900 eggs and then 150, because otherwise I am 10 short with just getting a 60.
Hopefully I will only get a Bronze or Silver in the Colosseum to make sure I am missing by even more.

The system keeps track of exactly how many eggs you have collected/purchased.
Once you reach 4000 total, it won't generate any more eggs. Doesn't matter if you are trying to hoard some or have turned them all in to the Vernal Glass.
Once you turn in the final egg, the Easter Event Island vanishes in puff of smoke.

I'm thinking that unless BFS extends the event, your 900-ME purchase last week was justified in furthering your progress on the Lost Island, so rest assured. You may need to make a final top-up purchase though, if you and I have had similar egg yields throughout the event.
I got a Silver in the Colosseum today, which I believe brought me to a total tally of 1730/2000 for the Island at the end of today. That meant that I would need another 270 eggs to complete, and I'm confident of getting 240 to 250 eggs from tomorrow's final double-egg. So I made a final purchase of 60 eggs, which should hopefully be all I need. Cutting it close, but I can't afford to spend any more than I absolutely need to if I want the Lost Island.

My deal time ends in 1:00:45:51. So when the deal ends, the Egg Hunt will also end?
BFS has said the hunt will "run through the 27th", which would be in about 14 hours from this post (BFS home time). The Deal Time is longer than that, and about 10:30am BFS home time (24 hrs from this post), which gives a similar cushion we have been given in the past with timed events.
My egg gathering timer resets about 2 hours before the announced ending time, so bit the bullet and made a small purchase this morning insuring the island with tonight's hunt.

I made the $0.99 purchase for 60 m.e. just in case I am short a little magic, BC I am banking on 25 points daily on coliseum gold medal. I have no idea how much magic rolled over to the island last Sunday after I found all M,E that day., I do remember little was in the 2nd egg. My deal timer is 22 hours&43 mins from now. Still have both choices of same deal, $0.99 for 60 m.e. & the $1.99 option for 150 magic eggs, so w/all of my days magic I know I still need at least 100 m.e. for the island. The glass also says I reset in 18 hours. Hoping that tomorrow gives me one more day of double magic or I buy the remaining amount needed. (Shhhhh!!).

Thank you for the warm welcome like 8 pages ago, just saw them now ^^; Quick question, so for my Lost Island I turned in about (maybe a little over) 460 ME, so does that DV's willing to give me 92 (or so) gems for my ME? And we do have to turn the ME in to get the gems, correct?
I have mixed emotions about spending actual cash for what amounts to an arrangement of pixels on a computer screen. Real value? I suppose you could look at it as artwork, which it is, and we all spend money for artwork in one form or another whether it's going to see a movie on the bigscreen or paying for cable/sat tv or even buying the tv for that matter.
I also think it's fair that once in a while we have to spend cash. BFS should get a reward for their work (however inept at times! think of the numerous crashes and problems.) I also have a real beef about how the egg times constantly change. I've kept track of the timers. I have 4 Android devices so one after another I've started parks on each of them to get gems and the reset time for the daily egg hunt keeps changing on each of my 4 parks. It ought to be fixed based on SOMETHING, I don't care what but it ought to be fixed so you can know when you have to turn in the eggs or bother searching for more or if you've reached your limit. I'm into the parks at various times during the day depending on what's going on, and if it's not fixed in time then it's just too much trouble to keep track of. Wapatango tried to explain to me what she thought it was but it makes no sense whatsoever to me.
So I'm not really happy with the way BFS does a lot of things. There are so many things that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Like the cost of buying a gemstone dragon for example. Why in the world would anyone in their right mind spend thousands of gems for something that earns 1 gem a week? Stupid. It looks pretty? whoopee do. Or how about the earning power of plant dragons which you get for nothing versus the metal dragons which you have to pay lots of coins for? And I think everyone can come up with a ton of wacky things in the game that amount to no more than BFS wanting to throw chaos into the game.
But the point I'm really trying to make is that despite all the problems and frustrations and gripes, BFS still deserves financial reward for the effort and that brings me back to this question of buying that stupid egg island with real cash. A lot of us are steamed about the way BFS worked Moonstruck and a couple of other things lately. They were trying to make us burn a lot of gems to get those dragons in hopes that we'd go ahead and spend money buying more gems. And I didn't like that and several of us were talking about quitting the game. I'll bet some reading this were thinking the same thing. But now with this egg hunt, didn't they virtually GIVE us a 2 dragon gemstone habitat along with 2 gemstone Ovalith dragons to populate it? That's going to earn each of us an extra 104 gems/year. Ok it won't completely make up for what we've had to burn lately but it IS something and it pretty much is a gift. We didn't have to breed for those dragons we just had to do all the things we normally do anyway. Pretty much. (I don't bother with visiting other parks normally. Waste of time. But you get the point.)
So I think it's not bad at all to buy the island. Kind of a badge of support for BFS. But for BFS, Rulilind has some awfully good ideas. Why not generate revenue with DV accessories? Sell DV Tshirts or mugs. Or how about her idea, a program, preferably on Windows, where you could test-arrange redecorating your park? I say Windows so you could use a mouse to drag things on and off. Works for a Mac too I suppose. I'd pay $5 for that and I bet most other people would too. Let people have all the decorations, all the eggs, all the buildings and islands, and let them move things around at will. You wouldn't need the dragons here. It would save people a boatload of time because of how EXCRUCIATINGLY tedious it is to do this on a tablet or phone. Once you get an arrangement you like, do it in your DV park. There are a lot of things you (i.e. BFS) could do to generate revenue from DV besides making people spend money on gems or eggs.
That's my 2 cents.
