I'm confused about when the event ends and exactly how many eggs I still need..is there a place that shows how many eggs we have used because I have no idea. It says I will get more eggs in 22 hours yet I remember reading the event ends today so what's the deal?

If you look closely at the pedestal on the egg island, you will see there are a number of panels in it. These colour up as you turn in eggs. At the rate of one panel per 100 eggs. Towards the bottom there is a stylized picture of the egg island. If you count the colored panels you will see you have 10 with colour. This means you have turned in 1000 eggs (and less than 1100)*. This agrees with the bar across the bottom of the island which is about half way.
Add that 1000 to how however many eggs your counter shows, and you you will have the total number of eggs you have collected since you got the last ovalith dragon.
The event will end sometime in the next 24 hours. Have a look at the "deal" counter in the market place to get the exact time. It is possible that the supply of eggs will dry up before the deal ends though. See poppy's post on the previous page for his thoughts.
* not sure if you get panels two at a time or one at a time. Mine have always turned up in pairs but others report the per100 amount so that is what I have gone with.

As far as when the event ends, they have stated it will run through the 27th, which is BFS time located in Boulder, Colorado. The deals for purchasing additional eggs is showing a timer longer than midnight in Boulder, ending the 27th, so we are assuming we will be able to continue to collect eggs until the timers run out. Is best to do your collecting as soon as the game allows, as nothing is ever set in concrete.
Thank you for the warm welcome like 8 pages ago, just saw them now ^^; Quick question, so for my Lost Island I turned in about (maybe a little over) 460 ME, so does that DV's willing to give me 92 (or so) gems for my ME? And we do have to turn the ME in to get the gems, correct?
I am also VERY curious about this as well. I am not sure if I should turn the, in or keep them in the basket to get the 5:1 gems.....anyone who might know for sure....help!

BFS just posted the following on their Facebook page:
The Magic Egg Hunt is almost over! At the end of the event, the Wizards will transform your leftover Eggs into Gems!
Be sure to turn in all your eggs before the event ends to earn rewards! Any Eggs that are turned in and do not result in a reward will be transformed into Gems.
In talking to Rulilind she made kind of a good point. If you have to spend money once a year, that's pretty fair. But if everyone buys the island won't it encourage BFS to just keep doing this kind of thing every couple of months or so? I kind of have to agree and I don't want to encourage them to do this. I don't want to encourage them to look at their customer base as a cash cow they can squeeze whenever they want. And Hasbro might be putting pressure on them to do exactly that. I want to spend some money as a way of paying for the enjoyment and camaraderie (with other players) that the game evokes but not on this magic island. Besides, there are 3 other people in the family playing on IOS and I have 4 Android parks. We'd wind up spending $70 or more even if I only bought islands for 2 of my Android parks. So for us, I think we'll just forget about the egg island and just spend some money on gems at some other point.
I think they reached too high in the pricing department for this event. Also agree they are testing the waters to see just how much blow-back they will get and make adjustments for the next go round. They need to find a happier medium for premium items. Add too many premium items to the game and they will find their faithful fan base bailing on them, and they will no longer be held in such high esteem as being a non-greedy gaming company.

My granddaughter completed through the first Ovalith dragon. I helped her turn in about 400 eggs this afternoon and that will be the end of the event for her. For her little three island Level 16 park, 80 gems will be a very nice final prize.

The one thing that I consider most frustrating is how vague BFS was in this event. The magic event was new to everyone including them so the confusion was expected.
The description of the island does clearly state eggs must be bought in order to get it. But when people asked BFS to clarify this, they chose to be vague replying: "OMG. Is it enough to be an intense player or do you have to buy stuff to get all the nice things? (bfs) Visiting Friends, competing in the Colosseum, clearing clearables, collecting cash and collecting food is all you need to earn eggs" instead of outright saying "yes, eggs must be bought to get everything.
The other thing is, since the island must be bought with real money, why not just make the price clear. Yes, I do realize that they are trying to make as much of a profit as possible, but that's just shady. There is no egg counter like the magic event causing people that aren't keeping meticulous count to not even know how much they have to spend.
Still uncertain if I am going to buy the island or not. It's quite the leap for paying $10 straight off the bat, but I may just have to give in for the sake of having the extra space I desperately need.
Looks like I caved in. Gave BFS a nice $15 for the Lost island, since I had lost a number of eggs due to connectivity issues. Was it worth it? I'm not entirely sure, as the island turned out to be smaller than what I expected, but hey, it's for a great game that has kept my full attention for a good 2 1/2 years

Same here. Wasn't sure if I was going to shell out the cash but I did anyway. I only ever spent money on this game twice: once when I started playing and during the magic event. And as you said this game has been awesome for me for such a long period of time that I don't mind spending the money on BFS.

I caved in too. Bought 900 MEs. Have to earn 200 more MEs when I come home from work which will be in about 5 hours. Hope there will be no connectivity problems....
After all this game gave me fun during the past 2 1/4 years - and I only spent the little amount for dark and light during the magic event. But if they come up with something similar soon I won't spent the money again.
I am a bad DV user as I never buy any gems. This feels like cheating for me ( no offense to others intended this is just my thinking). Every single gem I have was earned or gifted in-game. I also never bought a dragon with gems. ( though I don't know what will happen, if I won't be able to breed a limited and could afford to buy it just before it expires)
I hope I can find my 200 MEs - it's very suspenseful !

I was at just over 1000 eggs on the island, with no resets remaining. I shelled out for the 900 eggs ($12.99) and finished up with the 60 pack ($1.29). I haven't spent money on DV since buying gems to upgrade my nursery over a year ago, and have gotten months and months of enjoyment out of this. I figure the cash might lead them to offer more premium content, but at least they will keep it going.
The island is very pretty- it's currently an egg island.
My one gripe with this event was the lack of a definite counter for eggs. People have mentioned something about the stained glass but I never noticed it and it doesn't seem especially accurate.

I've kept a very busy "Hongkong look" on my islands (always wondered how they managed to land jets on an airstrip that was almost square), resulting in 9 or 10 habitats on some. Consequently, I maxed out early, with lots of maneuvering space left. Need is not an issue. But shall I, or... should I plump for the gems?
Gave in last night & paid (2) purchases for 60 ME for $.99 & my deals didn't go down, so spent another 1.99 for the last 125 M.E & then the event ended. No Magic in my park now. I suggest those who want gems deposit all Your m.e.. for the next level prize. But if and when you do make a purchase it goes directly into the prize, no leftover magic eggs. No gems.
I love the art of the dragonvale parks. The members here are so creative. I would love to see the island that community members have received if you don't mind sharing??
Magic is still in my 2nd park but haven't been active on it to receive gems for magic reward. koala to all!

Help please :0) I still need 740 ME to receive my island. The options left in my market are: 60 ME for .99 cents, 150 ME for $1.99, & 400 ME for $4.99. I will need to purchase more than 1 of each of these to get the island. Will i be able to do that or will they each disappear after i purchase one? Hope i am expressing my question well...i don't want to purchase eggs that will not get me to my goal & just be converted to gems at the end of the event. Will the market allow me to purchase 2 $4.99 egg baskets (800 ME) at this point in the event? Or will they allow me to purchase multiples of the smaller baskets to reach my needed 740 ME? There is no point in buying eggs now if i cannot reach the goal of the island. I am not interested in eggs that will only be converted to gems. Thanks for any help/advice you are able to give me :0)

You will not be able to buy two $4.99 egg baskets, since you only need 740 ME.
As soon as you buy the first one you would only need 340 ME. At that point, the option to buy 400 should vanish from the market
I assume you have collected all possible magic and you are certain your count is at 740?
If so, I'm not sure if you can buy your way to the prize at this point since the options will keep on vanishing. Would need to sit down and puzzle it out to see if any combination of 60, 150 and 400 could make the number you need. Every combination off the top of my head would leave you needing 10+ eggs...

Thank u! That was what i was afraid of. ? i had been reading this thread avidly & thought i was up-to-speed in my understanding but guess i misunderstood the instructions about the disappearing options in the marketplace. I really cannot understand what BFS is thinking...why prevent someone from completing the goal even when they r willing to purchase what they need. Seems very counterproductive....ah, well...is my own fault for dithering back & forth about buying the island. I did purchase a 900 ME basket last weekend which enabled me to get my 2nd ovalith dragon & was hoping to complete the event w/o any more purchases. My calculations show me at about 130 ME short even with purchasing all they will allow me to purchase. Don't see where i could pick up that many ME at this point. My coliseum win comes late in the evening (and even that would not be enuf) & event will be long over by then. Park is not giving me any more eggs at this point ...thanks again for your response! U saved me from wasting some money :0)
