I use a paper to keep track of the candies collected so that I don't have to leave DV all the time. And I don't want to miss any from collecting DC or treats. Speaking of which, I got 42 from DCs today. So it does happen sometimes.

Yeah. I like the idea too. It would work only if you have room in your park.
I used to do something similar in Gizmonauts. In my case I have so many shrubs in the tower, they would be a cheaper option
Space shouldn't much of an issue. Just make sure your clearances make a useable area. That needs to be only three wide and 12 long. Not very big at all.
You really only need to record gems, food and habitats. The others are easy enough to track with a mental "yep. Done that" So that is the tree wide If you use the suggested gold for 10s, then you need a maximum of 9 stone and 3 gold at any one time. When you lay down your fourth gold you don't need the stone anymore.
EDIT: Or if you make the spaces significant, you could a binary system and you would only need 3x6

Thanks GD. As always, you are so analytical, and practical. Members will find your method super useful. I am fairly relax at these events, sort of going with the flow, and if I miss few candies....I am very okay. I mentally track everything, this event, past events, and even Light/Dark event.

I analyse to answer questions. But I rarely follow my own advice. For this event I simply aim for 180 candies each day. If I make that, or close to it I am content. I turn them in once I hit my target or the timer resets, whichever comes first. I simply can't be bothered with the pain of tracking every treat. I just know how if others want to do it.

If my calculations are correct, I can blow 11 gems per day since I just went thru my stockpile. With 1 double candy weekend I'll be about 900 short of the spooky theme, which will result in a $10 or $11 investment. The same as the prior events. That's OK with me really.
The one thing I do wish is that we could jump over prizes and pick and choose. I'd like to get the dragons, but don't really care about the dark island theme, for instance. Anyone else?

Yes!! I would like the option to choose which prize I am collecting for. I really don't want the dark or spooky theme, but do want the N. Dragon.
That reminds me of the days when at the office " they " decided we have to go for paperless ... All good, keeping all emails in folders, sub folders, sub-sub folders etc. until the days you open your mailbox and it says : mailbox full, delete mails. Then, as you do not have the time to sort all mails, you just print about everything and decide to postpone the sorting at a later date. Then ... Bang, delete everything and get a new binder to store all printed emails.

That's what Outlook Data Files are for. So you can keep more emails. And store them until you need them at a later date. Etc. I currently have 12 data files open aside from my Inbox and at least that many in storage for later need as well.
I'm old fashioned too. I use a little peace of paper that slips under the ipad case when not used. I find a paper more practical because you don't have to leave DV to note the numbers.
Heh. I've added tally apps to both my Android tablet and my iPhone, and when I'm playing on one device, I keep the tally on the other So my phone counts for my tablet's game, and my tablet counts for my phone's game!
Yeah, Let's hope for a double weekend! I'm not going to do my sweeps until the afternoon. As painful as that is... I need all teh DC i can get for that new island. (grumble grumble)
Today is Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. Fingers crossed!
No kidding! It will be pretty bleak if progress remains this painfully slow, a lot brighter if I can start working on a dragon reward by the end of the weekend! I don't know if that is possible though...
