Well, Garland finally graced my park and I hoped it was the start of my koala storm, but Loot and Mono5 are still being stubborn... Flirting with the idea of taking a break to concentrate on Bismuth, but these two have tickled my stubborn streak!
Either way, I'm currently sharing my new Garland, gcid = akaSkitch
What combo did you use for Garland? I gave up on mono4 for now bc it was a stubborn lil guy:)
I was using different combinations in all breeding areas, but I'm reasonably certain the one that succeeded was Crystal and Poison, both level 15

That seems like an awesome (no sauce, please) game-changer! I suspect there are many players who would love to be freed from their "old iPad" limitations. Too bad parks can't be transferred from one to the other - yet!
Did the necessary installations take up a lot of space on your PC?
VirtualBox: 207Mb Genymobile: 87Mb Sony Xperia Z - 4.3: 651Mb And it's taking less than 500Mb of ram to run it. I have 16Gb, so no issue there. I imagine that will go up over time, but it's taking less than I thought it would. It's not *exactly* sprightly, but certainly useable.
It is a bit finicky, I tried upgrading Google Play Services,as DV complains it won't work without it and the whole thing stopped working, Chrome won't install etc. But a reinstall of the tablet image took 5m. And DV *does* work without Play Services installed, though I imagine I can't spend any cash on it.
It only took me a half an hour to set up, but I tried a *number* of other things first:
Lots of reading Bluestacks (Dragonvale started, but the graphics were stuffed to the point of unusability)
A clean Android installation in box VmWare Player and Virtualbox (no success with either, but less with VB)
Several other Android Emulators (Nothing worth writing home about)
Steps, and I can be more specific if anyone wants.
Install VirtualBox 5 (easy) Install Genymotion (easy) Download the VM (easy, finding one that would work: not so easy) Adjust the settings to an appropriate screen size and boot it. (easy) Install the ARM translation library to the VM and reboot the VM (Took a while to google why DV wouldn't run and what was needed to fix it) Download the Dragonvale APK to the PC and drag to the VM. (Doing it, easy. Finding out how to do it, 10m) Fire it up!
All in all I probably spent several hours trying things that *didn't* work And not the world's most robust result, but it does work. Park now at level 10.
Genymotion has been my go-to emulator for a couple of years now. Bluestacks used to work great and attached directly to the Google Play Store allowing frictionless installation of all your apps, including those requiring Play Services, but they have fallen way behind keeping up-to-date and it hasn't worked for many years. Back in the day Genymotion used to pre-install the Google Apps in their emulators out of the box but were served a "cease and desist" by Google for intellectual property reasons. They could theoretically solve the issue by licensing the Google Apps but probably don't want to pay Google's fee. On my somewhat modern Mac Mini, Dragonvale and my other Android games are awesome-fast, but I don't actively work on my Android park because carrying my games around on my iOS portables and not worrying about periodic manual version maintenance is so convenient.

Also, bound to be a double week-end to finish off, folks, so save your gift giving until the morning … just in case they start it early again.
I was thinking that too, but then I remembered that the daily cap is still there (only doubled). For the first couple days of this final phase of the event, with all the flag bearers in the park at the same time, I'm finding that I just log in, start a tent challenge, do my wheel spins, hatch an egg or two, click on all the flag bearers, and I'm already at max tickets for the day...all in about 10-15 minutes. Just seems like there is really no need to hop over to other parks and click on hats in this final phase...unless I'm overlooking something?
On a separate note, last night my son paired his Forge with my Glass (he doesn't have a Glass yet) in the CBC, and boom! - he got the Bismuth first try! It feels like its been ages since I've done that!
Have a good day, and Koala all with your breeding.
One advantage to waiting for doubles: if you are still trying to collect additional tickets in your gift menu (you haven't reached 3500 yet or you remain optimistic that we'll be able to use more than that...) then it's still beneficial if your gifting friend waits until doubles have started before gifting you.
ETA: Dear gift-buddies, I will (try) to wait until doubles have started before I send gifts.

Well, with Ticket Redemption Week only a few days away now, it's time to take a closer look at my shopping list. As a slightly OCD completist, I gotta catch 'em all, even the glitches and inexplicables... I have the Vernal Glass already, earned during the Magic Egg Hunt, but as we've noted the Prize Tent doesn't seem to count the one we may already have in our parks (shows 0 of 1 owned), and indeed the image in the tent looks different than the original prize. Has anyone purchased the Faire version? Is it indeed different than the original event version? If it is different then I must foolishly and slavishly buy it!

There's a bug with my breeding sites. I think they are broken. I'm using both non-coop sites for Garland, and despite constantly breeding since its release, I haven't gotten a single Crystal.
Shocking! Scandalous! If I were you I'd go over to their Facebook page and complain about that!

As for the price hike on the Faire dragon, to compensate for those of us who didn't get a chance to purchase it on the cheap, they better allow us to use all our banked tickets - not just 3500. Just my opinion. Had I had access to my game at 1:00, it would have been mine instantly.
While I would like to see this happen as well, it wouldn't be fair to those who missed out on the lower price but haven't been banking tickets. Their best move is to admit their error, lower the price to the original one, and take the loss. And they better do it as quickly as possible to minimize the number of people they'll have to compensate who buy the dragon at the inflated price!

So on the safe side I should enter the last week with only 3500 tickets – is that right? And does that mean the tickets that I have collected and the tickets that my friends have given me? Is it safer to collect all the tickets for my friends or leave them there until the end for more tickets? I certainly don't want to lose all of those tickets! Sorry so many questions just trying to figure this out I really appreciate the help!
To maximize your purchase power you want to save at least 3500 in your social Gifts tab. Our best guess at the moment is that you'll be able to withdraw 500 per day from your Gifts tab. It might be more if BFS has double days during the final redemption week (or if they decide to be nice and lift the cap entirely). This 3500 ticket limit only applies to those you have saved in Gifts. The tickets in your main bank you should make as big as you possibly can by collecting the max 500 per day (1000 on double days). You can go ahead and spend these tickets in the main bank at any time, it won't affect your buying power (though you may want to wait until the final phase to be certain you can afford whatever must-have prize the wizards come up with!)

After weeks of breeding futility success is everywhere. I bred two Monolith 5's and a Loot back to back to back. I was so excited I bought some gems to speed things up.
Koala everyone. As Fletch likes to say, the floodgates are wide open.
Cheer Poppy
I was going to make some derisive comment here, but Snowflake #1 + Snowflake #1 just netted me a 32 hour in my upgraded cave. I believe that means Snowflake #5 is about to join my park. Maybe there is something about this floodgate theory …
Just kidding. Coincidence is as coincidence does. Or Life is like a box of chocolates. Or some such saying.
But a serious question now, I should use my new Snowflake #5 to try and breed another, yes? Because of the cloning rules? It should help? If I'm after the shortest fails (and obviously I am) which of the other 4 is best to breed with?
Apparently I have been designated as the bad luck counterbalance to keep the universal laws of probability on track

But they really need to up their game. There are far too many time wasting things in this game and I think it's irresponsible to design things to just get people to spend needless time in a game. There should be a "collect all treasure chests" button and a "collect all treat farms and regrow" button. There should be a way to redesign your park layout that isn't so agonizingly slow. And they should knock off this constant handshaking with the server. It seems like it's set to talk to the server at least every 30 seconds and more often if you do activity. It makes me want to throw my device against the wall or choke somebody.
I'm sorry I had to say this, but I mean no disrespect. I completely disagree with you, that's what gives the game its charm. I love collecting all my habitats, growing and collecting treats. I love the server and it's "handshaking."
Well James I guess one person's charm is the next person's fingernails scraping a blackboard. (For all those who are not 55+, blackboards used to be black and slate-like and if you dragged your fingernails over it the screeching sound hit you like a bolt of lightning! Now they're all green or dry erase so you don't get that "wonderful" effect any more.)
Personally I don't see how having to wait 5 or 10 seconds every half minute or so when you're just trying to speed through your park collecting things would be charming. I don't think irritation is charming. But if you like it ... ok.
Allow me to add another perspective on the server update issue. For server-based services (games, financial, reference, etc.) there is a common issue known as the "lost update" problem. In these days of common access to multiple devices, aggressive server synchronization is an absolute necessity. Imagine if you were in your park and you spent some gems or managed to breed a rare dragon you've been trying to get. Now imagine you did so at a time you were not attached to a hotspot (assuming your game could run without one as many do) or that the game implemented a lazy synchronization scheme. The "source of truth" for your new purchase or your successful breeding would reside on your device and not in the cloud. What would happen if you signed into your game on another device? Since there is no record of your changes in the cloud, the only state that the new device would have access to would be a stale backup of your park, before your purchase or successful breeding. The new device would not reflect these changes and, more critically, the stale copy on the new device would become the new "source of truth" for the status of the park (because of the conservative assumption that your "latest" changes are always the most valuable). You've "lost" a critical update.
Whenever I'm at home I play on the relative luxury of my iPad Air with its large easily-viewed screen. But when I'm out and about and I have event currency to harvest or some task to restart I use my iPhone. I play two other server-based games as well and they both approach server synchronization in a problematic way. One of them keeps a flag in the cloud that notes when a transaction has been "finished", meaning that the server believes it has an up-to-date copy of the status and that no new tasks have been started on the device that require synchronization. If I try to log onto another device in this game it informs me that changes may be pending on the previous device and I have the option of logging into the previous device to save the current state or continuing to play and losing whatever changes have been made previously. The other game is even worse! The stale copy of the game on the server is always assumed to be up-to-date and the game just blindly resumes with that old version, invariable losing some progress made on the previous device. Ugh.
Dragonvale's server synchronization is the best I've ever seen and I love, love, love it! I have never lost an update playing DV and I can move seamlessly between my two devices or even log into my park on my wife's phone if my battery has died and we're out on the town!

First off inflation rates are off the roof! Banking operations are now high risk... Not only have they upped prices of event dragons to over 6000 (more than the TT, let me tell you!), they've also made it unbreedable if you don't buy it.
This has really angered me. It is VERY clearly a marketing ploy to make us buy the darling, and at such a steep price, BFS expects to make some quick dollars.
I was having an interesting talk with a friend today (this is relevant I promise), about how everyone just wants money ASAP nowadays. No one takes the long route or is prepared to build up a relationship with customers to make money. Prime examples are restaurants, shops and technology companies.
And so BFS turns into one of those companies, where they make quick profit and anger me as a long term player. And this is a view shared by many. I won't be buying the darling dragon for this reason. It will return one day, I'm sure.
Welcome to the dark side

I wouldn't be too quick to assume the Darkling dragon will be available after the Faire ends. The Thorn dragon also had a golden hybrid egg (metal/plant, I believe), but as far as I know was only ever breedable through a glitch, and that was only for a couple of days.
Well BFS still claims on their website that, with a little patience, ALL dragons can be bred for free, so we can assume that both Thorn and Darkling will be breedable at some point. Certainly during the next BeB, and possibly during other availability periods. BFS likes to mix things up so I expect we'll see interesting new ideas like limited mini-BeB's, maybe new periods of waxing and waning elemental magic that aren't a BeB but are a favored time to breed certain elements, and of course new mechanisms for completely new dragon types.

G'day, all! Will everyone check their Shared Dragon on page 2 and let me know if it is correct? You can either post in the thread or send a PM to vp. Also let me know if at anytime you would like to be removed instead of just updated to work through the Twins you may be receiving.
Hi Cyn! I'm currently sharing Bronze in my quest for a Loot so I don't have to remember to switch back!
Sigh. As a completist, my real wish is not offered. I have managed to collect one of everything in the game except all the "errors". Different versions of reward decorations mistakenly offered and claimed, etc. Different levels of reward habitats you can only achieve one of (I have always achieved Giant if possible). If they offered it, I would instantly take the Firefly egg on a fire pedestal...

I'm just wondering, has anyone ever found himself sneaking off to breed with someone else's dragon after sticking a fried with, say, a twin Double Rainbow?
I hope you don't sneak off after breeding a twin with one of my dragons! I love getting a twin, feels lucky!
