Don't forget that if you have any gems left, you can exchange them at a rate of 50 gems for 374.5 million cash (at least at level 100 - maybe it's higher at higher levels?).
Indeed, the return rate goes up with your levels so be sure to level as far as you can before you start converting gems to DC. I was sitting on a mountain of treats so I've leveled up to 125 where the exchange rate is 776 million for 50 gems. I've pretty much blown my fortune but I've got three islands cooking in the queue!
Edit II: I was also sitting on a double XP boost when they raised the levels, so that helped immensely.
What I didn't like was... I know some of our old friends said goodbye or took breaks from DV, but we'd shared so much fun with the Lindauer family! And Greg, and Fletch ... and I nearly deleted Buffy !
All in all, it was traumatic. I went by the indication of who had recently played DV, so if anyone was inadvertently cut out, I'm sorry!
BFS, please find a solution to this!
Traumatic is the word for it. I found I was unable to delete some iconic old names even though they haven't been active for a couple years. I had to delete some friends that I've never traded with (and now never will) even though they are still active in DV.
I hope things are stable for a while, I don't want to have to do that again.

Skitch. It’s time to link on a dummy Facebook account. Some of my friends. Isiscat. Toratora, meg gryphon, dv lemon, ed Doritos. Or you can set up a restricted list on Facebook and unfollow anyone you add. Nobody can see what you don’t want them to see.
100 friends now on gc and then it will probably slowly decrease.
I finally linked cause I have too much time and money in my game. I CANT LOSE IT
Yes, you may be right. As others have noted, though, this is also fraught with peril as FB can be heavy-handed with account lockouts. I don't even have a "real" FB account because I don't like their TOS. Using FB's built-in restrictions and managing who gets to see what might be workable, but we shouldn't have to have that burden just to play a little dragon collecting game without exposing ourselves and our families to crazy serial killer cyber-stalkers (I jest, but some members of my family have had some scary online encounters over the years).
I will note also that the "loss of anonymity" issue isn't as big of a differentiator as it used to be because Game Center started revealing user names a while back (they originally exposed only your GC profile name back in the day).

Gc is limiting friends to your highest ranked 100. You get points for progressing in games. Multiple games more points
You’re correct that it’s Apple doing the limiting and not BFS (which wasn’t clear when this all started). When I viewed my friend list in Game Center on the iOS 9 device it showed I have more than 100 friends in the Home “bubble” view but exactly 100 in the list view (so BFS not involved at all).
Seems Apple wants to kill GC off entirely but they’re sneaking up on it instead of just pulling the plug.

ChemNerdTwin I'm still going through my lists...but I have a question. How long does it take for your game center list to filter through to your DV list.? I did a hard reset, but DV is still showing some GC friends that I just un-friended. Is there a trick to making them sync up? Or do you just have to wait?
Thanks!
Nevermind. I figured it out. i logged out of game center, and then logged back in. Thanks
I managed to get an old iPhone up and running with iOS 9 to try this. I was hopeful, but it didn’t work right away for me either. But in my case, logging out and in didn’t fix it either. My park continued to show deleted friends after hours of waiting and multiple log outs. Frustrating.
Then it occurred to me to install DV on the old device and see if it showed the modified friend list. Shockingly, it loaded my baby park, the one associated with my iCloud account, NOT the one associated with my Game Center account, even though I wasn’t signed in on that device in either iCloud or GC! But this had the side effect of kickstarting the new friend list on my iPad. Now I seem to be in a situation where there’s some weird data crossover between my BFS data and my GC data across both accounts (recall that on my iPad I use and old Apple ID for GC and a newer one for iCloud).
So now I’m worried I’ll lose my main park on the iPad. Blech. But the good news is I do have many of my missing friends back on the main park... for now...

I had 300+ friends and am down to an even 100 after counting them. Can anyone else who lost friends count them and see if GameCenter is now limited to 100?
Well, that's interesting, I didn't bother counting until you suggested it... I had probably around 150-ish friends before the friendpocalypse, and now I, too, have exactly 100 (not counting Nogard). If this is true for others then it seems much more likely that it wasn't just a random database failure. Either it was an honest error (i.e. maybe a developer doing maintenance copying friend lists from one structure to another accidentally wrote a loop counter of only 100 instead of say 10000), or else Apple or BFS is imposing a 100 friend limit to save on resources during app execution.
I've gone from sad to mildly infuriated!
Edit: if the intent was to save on resources then they should have sorted the list by last activity and removed friends that haven't been active for years. I lost daily friends. This is really unacceptable.
When I upgraded to ios 11 on Friday (Trying to fix a ringing problem), I lost the ability to gift to many of my friends.
I upgraded to iOS 11 back in September when it first came out, and I updated to a newer version several weeks ago, but everything was stable and fine for weeks until the issue occurred the other day. As far as I know nothing had changed on my iPad for a good while when it happened (I have all automatic updates turned off so I can theoretically prevent this sort of thing!). As part of my effort to fix the problem I did update iOS to the very latest release yesterday (I'd been ignoring the update until now) but it didn't help.

Hi all. I have noticed a lot of you are losing friends which also happened to me yesterday.
The only thing I had done was turn Game Center off in Settings/iCloud/apps using iCloud on my iPad, Once I turned this back on my friends came back. Not sure why Game Center now uses icloud as I have always said no! My iPad Air is on V 11.0.1.
I also tested this on my iPhone (6s - V 11.1.2) and the same thing happened.
I hope this helps some of you
Sadly this didn't help, but it did get me thinking more about the problem. In my situation I use a different Apple ID for Game Center than I do for iCloud. Apple provides different APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for developers to use depending on the services they want to take advantage of. There are Game Center APIs, iCloud APIs, email APIs, bluetooth APIs, etc.
If Game Center's relationship with iCloud has changed (as suggested by your observation that you had to start enabling iCloud for GC when you didn't have to previously) then it may be that Apple made an error in how those two services share data, or that BFS is using both GC and iCloud and is making bad assumptions about where data is living, or one company or the other made a one-time error moving data from one place to another, or something like the above.
Whatever the problem, I can no longer trade with many friends that I've been exchanging gems and treats with for years. Very depressing. As others have noted, this could all be fixed if BFS does the right thing and takes ownership of their own friend mechanism.

YES, this has happened to me also! Three of my regulars - Arkynos , Bunny* Mom, and MayTroi - are no longer in my friends list. 😥 Luckily they are still in my Gifts tab because I have not collected their gifts but as you say gifting buttons disabled. VERY WEIRD! Sorry you three, I hope you see this post as I was only able to tag Arkynos . Hey Arkynos , am I showing up in your friends’ list or is this mutual destruction on BFS’ part? Since it started with Doubles Weekend, hopefully it will disappear afterwards. No excuse for BFS not prioritizing an in-game friending mechanism, they have had plenty of time. Sick of corporations trying to force Facebook down our throats.
I suspect this is entropy in Apple’s GameCenter which they don’t really want to support except in a legacy way for a while. I fear it will only get worse. As you say, the best solution would be for BFS to create their own mechanism; if I were in charge of their development I’d want something under my own control, and there are simple code-exchange solutions that don’t require the loss of anonymity that FB does.
I share your hope that it will fix itself with the end of doubles, but I’m not holding my breath!

Hey guys, I’m not here very often these days, so I’m not sure the problem I’ve just developed is happening to anybody else. I looked back a week or so and I see some folks are apparently having gifting and friending problems as usual, but nothing like this. I lost about a third of my Game Center friends overnight. They’ve just disappeared from my Friends tab. Several of them are still in my Gifts tab, waiting for me to return pending gifts, but the gifting buttons are disabled. This includes some of my daily friends as well
Is anybody else seeing this?

Look for the wee dumpy Green Witch once a day, icon flag disappears when you've found all yr flag bearers ... Sometimes need to use X-ray (path edit) vision to find flag bearers ( and egggggggs) 😛
I haven't seen as icon flag on my screen - is that like the border you see when you still have a hidden egg to collect? The border disappeared after I found the golden egg. I've looked for the Green witch, but if she's there, she's awfully good at hiding!
The Visitors button (the two wizards on the upper left of your screen, the same one with the green border) will display a flag when flag bearers are in your park. The flag disappears when you've tapped the last one.
Well, after many days of bad rolls, I finally had some roll koala: rolled natural 20 both yesterday and today (both were unnecessarily enhanced to 21, but I can afford the gems at the moment). Four Tiamat masks* in two days... hopefully it'll be a continuing streak!
Yes, they did. Not only that, whatever tomfoolery they performed to make it happen actually caused me to lose an egg. I was holding one unhatched in the nursery so that I could quickly convert it to a pedestal if the pedestal design was corrected (I already had the pedestal but wanted to make sure I would have both old and new the way it happened in the past with Frostbite and Firefly). It actually disappeared from the nursery. Thanks, BFS.
sorry you lost one Skitch. I would email them, I'm sure they give you a new subterranean but unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to keep the old, incorrect one, a la frostbite. Bummer.
Meh, it's not important enough to worry about. I don't need two copies of the same pedestal, I was more interested in keeping a glitch copy around like I did for Firefly and Frostbite. I like the uniqueness / collectability aspect. I'm a little sad they corrected it a different way than their previous errors.

Did they change the design of Subterranean egg? I can't remember what it looked like before, but certainly not what it looks like now?

Tiamat... A little face palm... How many heads a dragon really need? Next time BFS will have to bring in that mythical Japanese snake with 9 heads to make it more impressive :/
This is because they are drawing directly from the D&D version of Tiamat (the classical mythological version is different)

One slight negative that I should have seen coming but didn't think about until I loaded the game: the dragonarium will not be breathing fire again until we get both of these new mythical dragons...
...and I literally just hatched my Subterranean and enjoyed a few moments of sparkly Dragonarium before I saw the DV update notice on my apps feed. BFS really hates for my Dragonarium to sparkle.

Arrgh! That's just as aggravating as rolling badly in an important save roll in D&D! My die looked like it was going to land on 20 for a moment and flipped over to 13 and a food reward.
Oh well, one of my favorite characters was killed by Tiamat in an epic campaign many years ago when I still played, so... feeling nostalgic, I guess?

Well, this is a first for me, I got Subterranean on my first two tries! Elder Earth and Elder Dark on the EBS, L18 Root and L18 Cave in the EBC, 19:12 for both!
That's both dragon and pedestal taken care of right off the bat! Now if only I could get that pesky Honeyglow pedestal that I've been working on in the CBC since the Gathering...

When I picked up DVW I resolved to play it more casually than I play DV. I wouldn't worry about getting everything (I'm a devout completist in DV), I'd just play a few minutes each day, etc. I wanted it to be stress-free. But the game really drew me in. It was charming and it actually rewarded the casual play I wanted to pursue. I started to feel like I wanted to reward BFS again (in the early days of DV I supported them heavily, buying gems regularly even though I didn't need to... I stopped doing that when they began trying to close off player strategies and closely control how well a player could succeed without spending cash).
Believe me, as a software developer myself I understand the need to make money on a game, and I certainly don't expect companies like BFS to give us great stuff for free, but there's a difference between developing a game that players want to support and engaging in a cash grab. Early DV and early DVW both felt like they were developed by gamers: build it and they will come. I don't know what their actual financial numbers were like in the early phase of each game, but I do know through my participation in forums like this one and elsewhere that there were a lot of people who felt like I did, who wanted to reward BFS for creating something fun with a positive philosophy about building a following rather than milking players for their dollars. It took DV a few years to abandon that early "feel-good" approach to earning money. I hoped that DVW would have a similar trajectory, but it only took a few months.
I have played DV since the very first day it was released and haven't ever missed a day, so I have a lot invested in it. I will probably continue to play it for a long time, but it has been a few years now since I felt like giving BFS any of my money. I have no such investment in DVW yet, and this latest release has taken the wind out of my sails. I'm going to take a few days off to think about it. I may not return to DVW.
