The breeding combos for Sea Shanty & Corsair have been frustrating for me: low probability of success and huge fail times. Sadly, Sun+Hanno and Misfortune+Alure also show many potential fails of 48+ hours. This is not fun. I don’t want the game to be easy, but this is getting ridiculous. I’ve used hundreds of gems to speed up breeds. And while I’m whining, I want dragons to look like DRAGONS, not like dressed up cartoons.
The good news is Curse is pretty dragony and the last dragon on the loading screen that hasn’t been in the game yet is really dragony. It looks like a serpent.
TRUE! Curse is very cool and the serpent one to come next looks even better. I’m obsessed with keeping the red flame going on my Dragonarium so I’ll keep trying.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a best breeding combo. As long as you’re fulfilling the breeding hint (Djinni = lightning + water + air + metal), you have a chance of breeding Djinni. Some combos might increase your likelihood of breeding dragons with shorter breeding fails, but that doesn’t matter in the Rift (in fact, longer fails are preferred because you earn more Doubloons).
Djinni has an extremely low breeding percentage. The other day, several of us mentioned our struggles with Djinni.
I apologise that I always seem to be whining, but I’ve been trying for a rifted Djinni on two of my parks for four days now - even breeding up to 15,000 Etheryum without a wisp of success. Everything but. Could someone please look at the breeding odds for Djinni?
Djinni has a terrible breeding percentage — .5%. It’s a little better to social clone it in the co-op at 1%, but that won’t help with the Rift. I have an alt park that’s also trying for a traited Djinni. No luck. I feel your pain.
For my alt park, I keep a list of dragons that are needed in locked combos and have been difficult to breed in the Rift. When the Runic Breeding Caves come back around, I’ll know which traited-twin dragons to claim. I know that doesn’t help now, but it’s all I got.

I haven’t bred Djinni in the Rift of my alt park. I have a feeling I’ll need to obtain a traited Djinni from the RBCs.

The Misfortune dragon found the 'x' that marked the spot, and to his delight there was a treasure chest buried in the sand. Such fortune had finally found him! He eagerly opened the chest, but only the hollow echo of yesterday released into the air. Misfortune cursed his misfortune. 'Something wrong?!' bellowed a voice to the left. Startled, Misfortune looked over and saw CURSE approaching. 'The chest is empty!' exclaimed Misfortune. 'No, it’s not empty' explained Curse, 'it is filled with curses, like yours'.
Curse is in the co-op remedying his unsavoury reputation. Luckily, nothing quashes curses like a koala!

Any combination that has only the 4 required elements will be the best breeding combo. If you add a 5th element (or more) you add extra fails with a set percentage, and decrease the odds of breeding a Djinni dragon.

Curse looks like a dragon - a scary dragon, but a dragon. I hope that the koalas are strong enough to quash the curses. The breeding combo and number of fails are sure to cause some to curse. That treasure chest needs to be extra big or bottomless. 😉

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to use as a partner to obtain Curse in the coop with a friend’s Curse?

Use an Elder dragon that doesn't contribute any extra elements - Cold, Lightning, Water, Air or Metal. Or a high level hybrid that has a low breed time - Magnetic has the lowest, Chrome and Storm are good too.
The odds of cloning Curse in co-op is only 1%. If a friend has a Misfortune or Alure in co-op and you have a spare Misfortune/Alure it has 4.25% breeding chance. Either way there are a lot of fails. You may need many koalas. 😊

Hahaha! Djinni and Misfortune are true rapscallions; they are the real Curse dragons. Every time I use Misfortune in a breeding combo, half the breeding fails are Misfortune.

I think that the game teases us. I can't breed a Curse, but I've been cloning Misfortune and Alure dragons by the barrelful. It seems once you have a parent, they like to pop up all the time. When I release them I tell them to go to a player who is trying to breed them. 😊

I am planning on doing this now that I’m not a lurker 👀 anymore. As soon as I have a chunk of time. I’ve enjoyed reading them in the past.

There are a lot of long breeding fails. I’m starting to use gems just to get by a couple of them.
