Many many thanks GD and Crumble...back to the drawing board pen and paper coming out now Love this game
second thoughts too much happening in DV life and IRL at present to reorganise entire park: saving for summer hols in a couple months:)
Also, seems to be that you can switch island themes about once you have bought one? I have a spare earth, somehow, poss an early gift fm BF? and can move it onto and off another themed island: is that the case, you experienced folk?
also some of the themeable Islands seem to be larger/smaller,
AND , last q of the day, promise, to the L70 folk with many dragons ( eg Cyn), what percentage of your dragons can you exhibit if you have all the islands, but don't want to cram. Is it poss to exhibit 2 of most types ( there are several I don't want, at this stage) and landscape, without cramming? Or do most of yr L1 second dragons have to remain in storage? Whew! Thanks ( I spend entirely too much time thinking about this game )

Seeking info,in order to plan landscaping my park; 12 islands plus lost island in total? 12 'elements' in total? Earth, fire, water, air, plant, cold, lightning, dark, light, rainbow, sun moon, ah and metal, treasure, ... 12 themes for islands ? Or more due to events, such as winter wonderland? And spooky, treasure, 12 habitats or more??? Arrghh so confusing: happy to be directed to a list if there is one somewhere, I find dragon wiki hard to navigate due to all the screen clutter... Thankyou!
Sorry to upset you but... Thirteen islands so far plus lost Lots more elements than that. You missed treasure, gem, crystalline, apocalypse, galactic, monolith, dream, snowflake, Olympus and seasonal. As well as whatever takes thir fancy next. Galactic have their own separate habitats so they don't come into the decor equation, but you can have gems on your islands. You are not limited to the gemstone island. Seventeen themes so far, including "none". And you can have up to 14 instances of any one theme. Makes me think another island is coming up soon as you cannot apply a theme to the lost island. There is a habitat for each element plus a few. Omnitat, celestial and spooky come to mind. There are probably more I can't think of right now.
Note Galactics CAN be placed on regular islands -- in the Omnitat.

On a different topic: I am seeking the forum equivalent of 'The rules for good manners' ; This is only the second forum I have participated in, and the other one promoted a very casual use of names incl nicknames, for participants. What is correct please, as I do not wish to cause offence; some people here have a different name above their icon, from their GCID name, which is often not even incl in their signatures So I am guessing, eg, that I should be referring to Hyder as Goldenfire instead? ( sorry Hyder ) IE to the icon name not the GCID game? And is it rude to abbreviate the icon name, should, eg, I refer to Fletch_smf and not Fletch ? Thanks for guidance re forum protocol

KiwiChris,
I have read many of your posts here on this forum, and never once have I considered one of them to be rude or offensive. In fact, I haven't seen any post on this forum that I thought was rude or offensive...which is so nice considering what some trolls will post to get a rise out people.
In regards to using GCID or forum handles to address someone, I would really say that it depends on the individual. In my case, I am okay with being called Hyder or GoldenFire, so if you prefer using one over the other please do so. It's all good as far as I am concerned.
Now, there are some people that prefer to have their forum handle used as opposed to their GCID. In these cases, they will usually state their preference, or gently remind you if you addressed differently. Admittedly, I am thinking about jamesvaler as I am typing this. I wish that I could find the post that I am thinking of, but there was one in which he listed acceptable nicknames after someone either mistyped his forum handle or tried to christen him with a nickname that he didn't like. LOL. I'm really wishing I could have found that post because it was a humorous exchange to say the least.
In regards to abbreviating forum handles, I don't believe and therefore wouldn't say that it is rude. In regards to your example, I too have referred to Fletch_smf as Fletch simply because writing/typing "Fletch" is quicker, easier, and more akin to normal conversation (i.e. in normal conversation we don't call someone by their name, and then follow their name with letters or numbers). For these same reasons, I have also shortened your forum handle, KiwiChris, by dropping the 01.
Given that you and Fletch never voiced any displeasure over my abbreviations, I took this to mean that everyone was okay with, and therefore wouldn't have a problem if I continued to use said abbreviations. Now, if you or Fletch had said something, or say something later about the abbreviations, then I would stop using the shorten version and instead type your full forum handle if preferable.
Now, the above is just my two cents, and I certainly hope that it falls within the parameters of having good manners on a forum. I mean, if I was misbehaving I would certainly hope that someone would pull me aside and tell me as opposed to letting me run wild.
With that said, I'm sure others will come along and add their thoughts on the matter.

Thanks Hyder, I am so reassured I haven't been offensive by using H instead of GF I recall being gently spanked by jamesvaler, for shortening his moniker to jj in one post:) And re my name, happy w any abbreviations, i spose I'm of the generation where nicknames feel like friendship... One of the reasons I abbreviate is that I'm typing on my iPad usually w one hand, and going for speed because I'm still so enthusiastic about this game. Also for several of the reasons you listed. I'm also curious about why people use 2 names? Can you enlighten me on that? And I guess the safest way is to use the forum name...so I shall discipline myself to do that

Kiwichris, when I want jamesvaler to know I'm yanking his chain, I write an @ before his name (as in Forum Name to Tag) and it comes out the moniker he's chosen.

Lots of possible reasons. To match in with a handle used elsewhere. Because their preferred name was taken already, then became available. Because they were half asleep when they signed on and made a typo. Because they had a seniors moment when they signed on and came back to realise "what was I thinking". (Hi Fletch_smf) Because they got bored with the old name.

I'm new to playing also don't have many friends on fb who play this game so is there a place you can add people or have people add you so you can breed together ? in a pg dragon way. Another question, what do you get when you breed a procyon with a comet drag?

Eek, I don't actually mind JV. I just like to pull the leg of Buffy or Greg. Old timers need to be ruffled a bit from time to time. KiwiChris (can I omit the 01? Thanks) you can pretty much call me what you like, as long as it's recognisable and it's not a rude word. I doubt many people mind if you shorten their name or use their GCID/forum name. I know I don't. Personally I think you can dock so without permission as long as someone hasn't specifically asked to be called something - in which case we will respect their wishes.

Lol. For the record I signed up as 'fletch' but changed it to display my GCID, which is 'Fletch_smf'. My two favourite alternatives are 'sweetie' which Pixie calls me, and 'baldsmurf' a shortening of JV's 2nd park ID 'notthebaldsmurf'. But frankly you can call me anything and it won't bother me. My first name is Shane, but my grandmother-in-law called me Sean till the day she died. :-)

Me again, still trying to get a handle on rules for dragon types: now looking for a quick check method:: is the dragonarium a reliable steer regarding whether a dragon can currently be bred? Eg Love dragon, dragonarium lists it as unavailable; wiki gives breeding tips but says it is an expired limited, so that seems to reinforce use of dragonarium as a quick reference??? Or does dragonarium reference only what is available to buy in the market? The market seems a clumsy quick ref as it doesn't list dragons in any type of order I could discern ( alpha or type etc) Thanks !

The dragonarium is a good reference. If a dragon in the dragonarium has an hour glass then it is limited otherwise you can breed year-round for it.(=static) If the hour-glass is GREEN then the limited dragon is currently available, which means you can breed for it with the specific combination that this dragon has. For the Love dragon the combination is FLOWER dragon + any dragon with a lightning element. If the hour-glass is grey the limited dragon is out of season (expired). You then can only breed for it with one of the following exception rules.
1) Gem dragons can't be bred at all if they are out of season
2) You can always clone any limited (normal hybrid or epic but no gem dragons) by combining two of that same type. Love + Love nets you always a chance at another Love.
3) Epic expired limited (those with the types sun, moon, rainbow, apocalypse... And not plant, fire, earth...) can also be bred by combining one of that wanted dragon with any other epic dragon. This can't be used for the Love dragon, because it is not epic. But you can breed another Omen by combining Omen with another epic, e.g. Cyclops or Andromedan or Sun..... This is called epic cloning in this forum.
4) Snowflake and Monolith dragons are exceptional. Any Snowflake dragon needs two dragons of the snowflake type as parents, but neither of those parents have to be that special Snowflake that you want. Snowflake1 + Snowflake2 nets you a chance at Snowflake1,2,3,4 or 5 (And the same is true for Monoliths)
So the dragonarium gives you the information, if the dragon is breedable. And the specific combination can be found here in the forum or in the wiki.
However there have been two exceptions to the reliability of the dragonarium regarding breedability.
1) Snowflake and Monoliths that occur during an event have been marked with a green hour-glass(= limited and available). But when the event is over the dragons are shown without the hour-glass (= static)
2) Of some other event dragons the dragonarium stated that they were only purchasable and not breedable. But they could be bred. This was true for the Tidal, Muse and Pharaoh (hope I remember them correctly). If we have an ongoing event and the dragonarium says that a dragon is NOT breedable, I would propose that you'd have a look at the breeding hints (button is there when you select one of the breeding caves). If there is no hint for the new dragon, then it is not breedable, but if there is a hint (don't buy it) then the dragon can be bred. Come to this forum to see if anybody happened to post the right combination.
hope this helps

Wow, things have gotten complicated regarding breeding. I remember the "good old days" when the breeding rules were stated in 2, maybe 3, sentences (said with hand on cane, trudging to school 5 miles in the snow...)

Arrgghh that DV wiki is USELESS I am hopeful that the forum will have the answer When Kairos power is flagged as available, if you click on info, there is a timer counting down: what is the timer counting down to or from? IE does Kairos shift time less and less the longer you wait before activating his power???
The info timer reflects the remaining time on any quest you have running. It is there anytime you have a quest running. Seems more than a little redundant to me given that the quest has its own button and that you can see the timer on the progress bar if you zoom in enough. but that is what it does.
