I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but the new background is controllable in the Twilight Tower for those who have it. In addition to Day and Dusk, there's now "Spooky," and the tower itself looks different while it's on Spooky. I wouldn't call this a reason to assume they'll let us keep the background, though - that would be pretty unfair to those who couldn't or chose not to get the tower last time, not realizing that it would be key to additional prizes for future events.

Does anyone know if the spooky island themes will be different themes, or just more of the original one? (Since you can earn more than one.)
Also, I noticed that you can change from the spooky background theme if you have the dusk/dawn changer-thingie (I'm sure that has a real name...?). So you can put it back to regular, or dusk, or the spooky as you'd like. I hope they let us keep that as an option!
Edit: Journeywoman beat me to it by a minute! And used the proper name for the tower.

In the event help part, second tab "prizes" you find the future new dragon Nosferatu with info that it is a combo if ice/fire/earth and a breeding time of 13 hours. I assume this means that it is, or will be breadable outside the event.
I was gonna use 30 gems every day, but it looks like that won't even make a difference so you just saved me 750 gems
Well… it appears that the math was so frightening that I mess up in my calculations. Looks like even if there are 6 days of double candies that you’ll need to spend gems in order to get the spooky theme. I’m not too big on themes so I don’t know that I’ll be spending too many gems… then again I do have quite the stash of gems to spend!
Well, make that 500 gems then.
Thankfully I have obstacles to clear this time, which does make things a lot cheaper.
Alright, guys: it's 20 past midnight on my side of the planet. Reset is in 8 hours and I've earned 225 candy. My hatchery has been full of Arctics (pretty long fails for Ragnarök) and an Opal all day, so I'm setting the alarm clock in two hours because I just have to get that lamppost out of the way!!!

:::dragging out the FF Google Sheet that Blah created during the summer::: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17IhiyhEQViZFYITzQdaYO--vhb9-a1gVa6emVYLtd-w/edit?usp=sharing I'm going to have to work on modifying it since we get candy for Colosseum Events and didn't get FFs for that, need to change the dates, etc. etc. But, if you're a whiz with that kind of thing -- go for it! Blah's spreadsheet has to be saved to your own Google Drive before you can do anything with it. It was nice to have when I was trying to track "am I going to make it to my goal?"
And, Blah, if you're still around -- thanks for that, again!
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all/Gloom, despair, and agony on me... {HeeHaw, 1970s - totally showing my age)
I love having another event! The spooky sky looks great! I want to keep it forever!
But I am still missing 22 candies from either treats or dragon cash. I'll probably sit around planting Dragonsnaps later. I also "invested" in some small Plant habitats so I can collect more often.
My small park just got 25 candy for buying the Bone dragon.
Gem spending rewards you with candy in a 1:1 ratio with a max of 40/day. So you can get 15 more candies by spending 15 more gems today.
Yes But I'd never seen someone confirm this works for buying dragons with gems. (And I can confirm these were gem candies because I'd already gotten 20 of my hatching candies)

Thanks Greg. I never realised there was so much rubbish in my Notifications list. Switched off most of these, deleted the App once again, rebooted iPad - bingo - all working.

I am super excited for another event, too! The Firefly festival was my first and I really enjoyed it.
I haven't had a chance to play, so are the diminishing returns as bad as the last event?
Also in the master post for the event is it 5 friends, 2 candies per friend, with a max of 10?
Seems that way. Took ~10+ rounds of treat growing to get my last 2 candies. And it's 5 candies per friend with a max of 10. So 2 friends.
Took me ~30+ rounds of treat growing to get my last 2 candies. 25ish more days of this? Depending if the in game end date of Nov. 2 is correct or the in game pop-up of Nov. 3...

I'm wondering if they took the "diminish" out of the diminishing returns on the treats. I just harvested a round of 24-hour treats a little while ago and got 16 candies. I then planted four successive rounds of sargin peppers and got 6 candies each round, and that was my 40 right there. It's possible, of course, to get exactly 6 candies every time for four rounds in a row, but judging by prior events, with luck like that I should be heading out to play the lottery right about now. And grinding for the last few treats is one of the main things we've been complaining about since they came up with the diminishing returns. Is anyone else having a similar experience?
Edit to add: Okay, I see some others aren't having as much luck (I started to write this and got called away for a lengthy phone call), but maybe it matters this time what you plant?

They diminished quite the same as usual for me
Though I do think that you are much more likely to get candies/fireflies/etc when you buy more expensive food than less expensive.

I can see it on mine too. But I don't see a prize in the list that suggests it will be available after the event.
Here's my humble attempt to grab a screencap of what happens when you select Spooky...

Double, double toil and trouble... that's kind of how I feel but I will try to have a good attitude about this event. It looks like we will get treats instead of gems for unused candies. I've been hoarding my gems for the BeB at the end of the year so I'm reluctant to spend them on this event.
