16 July 1894, birthdate of Alexandru Froda (Froda's theorem), a Romanian mathematician. Hence also the connection to Nosferatu and Transylvania. Also my birthday! 1894Froda
23 February 1997 was when the first announcement of the existence of Dolly, the cloned sheep, was made. 1997Dolly. Butterflies are sometimes thought of as symbols of rebirth and metamorphosis.
While this thread is very interesting, and I'm looking forward to learning history via dragons, is there a way to insert an apostrophe into the title? It should be "Fletch's"

Did you just beat the grammar Borg to point out a mistake in a thread he had already replied to?
March 22 is my birthday, which I share with William Shatner, most known for playing the role of James T. Kirk in Star Trek: TOS... He was born in 1931; me during the original run of the show... 1931Kirk

So I was only asking for dragons for the specific dates/dragons in the OP, but I love enthusiasm, I love the connections, so I'm taking all three of these on board. I think we're friends already, so expect gems when my tree refreshes.

TO be honest, I noticed it when the thread was 4 hours old but didn't want the first non-Fletch post to be picking at grammar...

I don't mind telling you that Myke has had a few days to look at a mock up thread in the Mod section while I was creating the tables and he didn't mention it at all.
Today is Wayne Gretzky's birthday; he is 54 years old. I insist you name a dragon after hockey. I won't sleep until you do! I suggest you name the baby 1961GreatOne or 1961Gretzky
Is that Jan 26th or 27th?
I'm only joking. It doesn't matter. I won't be naming one of my dragons after an Ice Hockey player. lol You Canadians ...

NinjaKiwi.: So let it be done. I've stopped reading Fletch_smf for grammar any more.
Now see if you can get him to name a dragon after a hockey player.
January 9th 1954 : coldest temperature ever measured in Greenland : -65,9 degree centigrade
Is that coldest temperature ever measured in Greenland, or coldest temperature ever measured?
Sorry only in Greenland. The coldest temperature ever measured on earth (under normal conditions not in a laboratory) is by far much colder. *shudders*
dragon list (last dragon : Gatren) DV friend id: Crumble#7733 friend link coop friends always welcome, but all my gems are spoken for
The man who introduced Smaug to the masses needs to be represented. What better dragon than Tree? (An Ent, get it?) Every year people from around the world lift a glass and toast 'The Professor' on January 3rd to celebrate Tolkien's birth in 1892. www.tolkiensociety.org/events/tolkien-birthday-toast-2015/
Keeping with the dragon theme, I would also like to submit Saint George. Although historians argue his birthdate, they all agree that he was slain in 303 after refusing to make sacrifices to the Roman gods. May 6 is his feast day on the Gregorian calendar for those of the Orthodox faith.
Fletch, If you decide to use these hang on to the gems and send them out to the next person in need of them when the next limited gets introduced. ~Cyn
Hey Fletch, please don't bother with the gems, just love the idea of history and I like looking for obscure connections to the dragons on the listed dates!

Great minds … GregDarcy had the same idea, with 1892Smaug which I'll use because of the Dragon Connection. St George is another winner though. Thank you.
I hadn't mentioned JRR here in public as it didn't seem to be one of the dates you had THrown open. However, if it's "anything goes" (ahh George!) can I mention the other date I raised... March 11 1952 If it is acceptable I would like to propose a break from your naming convention: DontPanic

Here's what I've learned in my time at this forum … telling people not to send you gems in no way stops them from sending you gems. Actually that even predates this forum.

My dearest Cyn, you know that's not how gems work. They have to be sent daily and can not be stored up. So 2 will be sent to you. And there will still be plenty to send to others in need. The gem tree keeps replenishing itself … just like magic. ;-)

Tables and my park updated. 13 of my dragons now have names.
It seems a popular theme is naming the dragon that correlates to your birthdate, so from this point on I will happily accept entries at any time for the dragon that corresponds to your date of birth.
