Sigh. The idea that whining on the forum could possibly affect my odds of breeding an Aurora flies in the face of all I understand about statistics and cause and effect. But since the blasted beastie continues to elude me...
Pleeeeeease wizards, please, please send me an Aurora before I lose my mind!
Well, it's been 5 days since my whine and I have just now gotten a 43+ hour timer... 5 days. So now I'm left unsure whether it's the whining that's effective or just the statistics finally rolling my way...
But never mind that, WOOHOO! AURORA!!
I have only the long-ignored Lodestone remaining between me and a sparkly Dragonarium, so I'm not going to be locked out for the year! Whew...

Only just realised that the Sakura description on the game load up is a(n) Haiku.
Do you wanna know which article is correct?
This is something I actually researched a few years ago, and "correctness" might be difficult to establish and too strong a criterion in this case!
In American casual speech, "an" is only used if the "h" is silent (as in "hour" or "honor"). However, in American formal speech, British usage is generally followed (but not always!), so you might hear "an historical occasion" in a formal setting, but you'll usually hear "a historical occasion" in a casual one.
In British usage, the "rules" (more tradition than actual rules) are somewhat complex and differ depending on whether the specific dialect is "h-dropping" like Cockney. Use "an" if the "h" is definitively silent ("hour", "honor"), or if the emphasis is on the second syllable, or in an "h-dropping" dialect. So you might hear "an historical occasion", "a helicopter just took off", or "an 'elicopter just took off". This gets a little squishy if there is a primary emphasis on the second syllable, a secondary emphasis on the first syllable, and the dialect is not "h-dropping" (as in "hotel").
So in this particular case, since "haiku" has a primary emphasis on the second syllable and a secondary one on the first (like "hotel"), it's "most correct" to say "a haiku" in American usage and "your mileage may vary" in British. You Aussies and Canadians are on your own!

Apologies if this is not the appropriate thread for this, but I have room for three friends - daily gem for gem - anyone else looking for one?
LamonsterZone on iOS
As it happens, I've got an extra DragonSai Bush gem burning a hole in my pocket! I play everyday and will trade a gem daily. I have sent an FR to LamonsterZone. Game Center has been a bit flaky lately so if you don't receive it you might try sending one to akaSkitch

So the berries have just reset, but I noticed that the timer on the double-berry deals is reading 2 days and about 1 hour left. Does this mean that on the final reset, we'll get an hour worth of double berries before it resets to single berries? Hmm.
That was my interpretation as well. I am saving Kairos for this short little window to milk out every possible berry...

I just turned in the last few berries needed for the treatery, and for today, at least, I have decided to gift my 3 oldest gem buddies with the treats. I'm wondering, though, what the common gifting practice might evolve into. Separate and independent gem-, treat-, and hat-buddies? Fixed gem-buddies with every-other-day treat-buddies? It might have been easier if BFS had built the treatery to produce the same number of treat gifts as gem gifts (but too difficult because not everybody who has the treatery will necessarily have the Dragonsai tree or bush).
What's everybody thinking?
What is a hat-buddy?
I do not have 6 regular gem buddies. I have 2-3 regular gem buddies and everything else is just returning what comes in.
Shorthand for Party Hat buddy
...but now my misguided attempt to save typing 6 characters (counting the space) has resulted in the necessity of typing a few dozen...

Iseem to remember that in other events, there was a discount in the first doubled time, but not in the last one just before the end of the event. I have learned to get my doubled collecting items in the first offer.
It's not that there are no double berry deals to purchase.
There are no berries to purchase at all!
Yes this! I expect that you're correct it will be fixed shortly, BFS is losing money by the second!

Through the treatery you can send treats and ice berries and 1gam and iceberries. So you can collect 20 iceberries per day from a friend. The treatery only allows you to send treats and iceberries to 3 friends total. Wish we could give to 6 friends but I'll take what I can get. Lol!
That is true, but you do NOT want to send your gifts as soon as they next refresh. If you do, people will probably lose out on half the iceberries. Double berries should start many hours later. If you wait until then, each gift will give 20 iceberries instead of 10, meaning you could give someone 40 iceberries if you gave them both treats and a gem.
Dang it, I planned to do this but forgot what day it was. Sorry gem buddies, I blew it! Wish I had checked the forum before gifting.

I certainly hope that "its portability is short lived" means that the period of time when it can be moved from Nipong to our islands is temporary (i.e. the event) and not that the bush is locked in position once placed! Enlighten me GregDarcy!

I am learning more everyday and I came across the races but totally spaced on where I saw it...I believe I need to buy something first?
The Dragon Track is available in the Market under Buildings, but you won't be able to buy it until you're level 15. You'll be able to race your dragons for prizes (treats, gems, cash, or experience). Unless you enjoy the thrill of self-discovery (I do) you may want to browse the DragonVale Wiki. It's a treasure trove of info about what you have in store.

All these new-fangled dragons with their new-fangled elements... Why, when I was a younger lad you just tossed a couple Flower dragons in the cave and you could expect to get a Flower dragon. Nowadays you might get a Polar Vortex dragon or a Betelgeuse dragon or a ParsleySageRosemaryAndThyme dragon...
What's this world coming to?

The sign out is a little hard to find. You must navigate to Settings -> Game Center and then tap on the blue link that says "AppleID: [your id]". This will present a popup with a Sign Out option.
As far as starting fresh, I found the following on the web but have not tried it:
1. Close Dragonvale 2. Sign out of Game Center 3. Open Dragonvale 4. When prompted to sign in to Game Center, Select "Cancel." A new game will begin. 5. Close Dragonvale 6. Open Game Center and sign in. 7. Open Dragonvale 8. When prompted to sync with Game Center, select "Continue" 9. Select "LVL 1" to reset back to the beginning.
It worked!!! Im back at the beginning LV1. Thank you so very much for walking me through this. My name is daytripper13 at Game Center. Please, lets be friends
Many of us advertise our GCID in our signatures (You can see mine, akaSkitch, at the bottom of my posts). Feel free to send a Friend Request to anybody doing so as we are, by and large, a friendly group! This is especially true if you intend to participate in any communal gem-trading such as the Last Call competitions. Most of us already have a full set of daily gem buddies but are happy to add Party Hat friends.
I have sent a request to daytripper13

Would these display eggs be any different than the two earned as event rewards?
In appearance, all Snowflake eggs are exactly alike. But the Dragonarium will be able to identify exactly which of the 4 Snowflake dragons each egg is supposed to be. The event will give you egg pedestals for Snowflakes 1 and 2, but if you're a completionist, you'll probably want to breed egg pedestals for 3 and 4 as well.
Does the Snowflake egg art drive anybody else nuts or is it just me? Not only are the eggs identical (I mean, come on, that contradicts the whole point about every snowflake being unique!) but the star has seven points! Seven! I have to regard the Snowflake egg as both a missed opportunity and a design failure...

If you have 1 and 2 snowflakes, do you know if when the limited period is over, you can still breed 3 and 4, although you only have 1 or 2, or do you think normal rules apply and you can only breed 3 and 4 when the limited period is over if you have at least one 3 and 4.
I'm operating under the assumption that if you want 3 & 4 that you will need to breed them before the dragons are expired, which most likely will occur when the event ends.
But that's just a guess.
This is a rather unique case so it's hard to say for certain how things will ultimately work out...
I haven't even been thinking about multiple snowflakes since I have been breeding feverishly for Berry and Bicentennial. Having now obtained my Bicentennial (yay!) it is only now I'm realizing there may be an issue here. But I haven't obtained the second Snowflake dragon yet, still another 700 or so iceberries to go... am I way behind or have you folks purchased iceberries to unlock them early?

I am writing this for my DV Friend Skitch. After what seems "forever" Skitch is still trying to breed a Bicentennial Dragon. Could you PLEASE send the Bicentennial to his park.
Thank you and wishing you a Happy Vacation after your tireless treks through our Parks.
Shernea and the DV Community.
P.S. sending this via the Baby "Donner" Reindeer Dragon in hopes his great big, pretty pleading eyes would get your attention and you just couldn't say "no."
Dear Shernea,
While your earnest entreaty did not convince Sandakloz to bring me a Bicentennial dragon for Christmas, he has apparently relented and decided to gift me one during the Twelve Days. Yes my friends, I am, at long last, the proud owner of a bouncing baby Bicentennial (or I will be as soon as the egg hatches)!
Thank you for your kind wishes, and thank the wizards for finally ending my long nightmare...
...although now I have to breed a second one and a display egg... eek.

Would someone with a spreadsheet or running total please give me an idea of where I should be right about now (time stamp on this post should be 12/30 4pm or so US Eastern time) if I had full access to my parks for the last week? It's been 7 days since everything went wonky. I would have been playing diligently around the clock. I have sufficient stuff on islands to clear and loads of gems. I haven't been able to log on every day due to crashes and wonkiness. The park that has lost my Friends list is only about 1/3 of the way to the first snowflake dragon. The park with Friends is a hair away from the first Snowflake dragon. I'm thinking that puts one park at least 800 iceberries behind the other. I'm going to leave my devices plugged in with parks open and hope they don't crash.
Very roughly estimating: The event started Dec 18 and runs until Jan 11, so we're halfway through in terms of calendar. In terms of collectible iceberries, we've had one double berry "weekend" (not actually on a weekend) and its very likely we'll have one more, so that puts us about halfway through in terms of berry collection as well. I haven't purchased any berries and I've come fairly close to maxing out every day (including spending gems for an extra 40 per day). I've collected 4255 iceberries at this point (recall that there was an initial bump of 50 berries for the tutorial). There are a total of 8160 berries required to win the final prize (not counting extra Wonderland themes), so I think I'm on track to win all prizes without having to purchase iceberries.
You mileage may vary

Whoever predicted that double iceberries would occur during the holidays, do you foresee it occurring during new years?
Also, do gems refresh at 6:30 Colorado time for everyone? I'm trying to figure out how many berries I would be able to get monday morning before the event ends. Thanks!
Like jamesvaler, I think that we might get iceberries from 12/31 to 01/02
I don't know what time it will be in Colorado when the event ends (January 11th), but the last events all ended at 18:30 European Standard time. (Except for the desaster with the end of the last event XD ) I predict it will be the same time as it was for you when the first double iceberries ended. And I also suspect that there will be a countdown timer too, either in the info or help of the icecastle or in the market for double iceberries.
I'm now at 600 iceberries up to the second snowflake dragon I could clear all but one of the new goals. The Ovalith is proving very elusive. But since I have nothing else to breed for, Bloom + Pamlong is an interesting choice (which I have done a lot of times in the past when I didn't know what to breed for). It's giving a lot of epics. When I will get my second Snowflake, I will breed for the other snowflakes obviously.
Koala to all with your BEB !
As a cautionary note, I think it would be wise to anticipate that double iceberries may start on 12/30 rather than 12/31, or on New Year's Eve Eve. After all, the Christmas doubling began on the 23rd rather than the 24th.
