Paid the first runner up gem to elehcim. Unfortunately, as Greger is a gem buddy, all I can offer him is my earnest pledge not to accidentally forget to gift him next time I accidentally forget to gift somebody!
And with that, I am all paid up!

Whew, didn't have time to read the site over the weekend and it took me a while to catch up. Do you people realize just how much more often you post when there's an event and/or BeB running? Sheesh! And with both of them running concurrently.... look out!
I'm sad to report that BeB still hasn't been good to me. As I've already posted, my Bicentennial fails are even more fail-y than usual and that tricksy Berry dragon continues to elude me as well. I've bid farewell for now to the coveted Island Theme Bundle and have been speeding my breedings (but only so long as I'm getting iceberries... no need to go completely crazy!). So I'm keeping my head down, hitting Retry as often as possible, and tracking down that pesky Sandakloz every single time he shows up (hey, I'll take my wins where I can find 'em).

I am having the worst luck finding him. I just might have to suck it up and go buy an iPad this weekend!! My old eyes and tiny Sandaklauz on my iPhone are NOT working well together!
My wonderful husband and daughter gave me my Christmas present of and Ipad and case early. What a relief for my poor strained eyes.
I love this! In my mother's family it was a tradition to open a present on New Year's eve but in my father's family it was a strict rule to wait until Christmas day. So when I was growing up we waited until Christmas day! I wonder if he would have softened his stance if he were addicted to DragonVale but couldn't see his little Sandakloz...

Any scientific explanation to back your number up?
Yes
Indeed, after quick-leveling (the new directed goals feature is wonderful for low level players trying to figure out what to do next!) I found that the event is available at level 11! I did have to force-quit the app and reload the park to get it to appear, however.

Anybody know the minimum level required to get the event? My infant Level 10 park (conceived as a simple 3-habitat park for lightning-quick party-hat visits) isn't able to play...

Well, the Wild Magicks have insinuated themselves into my Bicentennial breeding program, and the limited fails have begun to arrive. Motley and Butterfly today. So now I must open my gem wallet and start speeding up my breedings. Farewell Island Theme Bundle, our time is not yet to be.
Ah well, at least I'll get iceberries outta the deal...

My gifts for today haven't regenerated yet. Does gifting automatically send all gift types to each recipient or can you choose to send gems to A, treats to B, and ice berries to C?

Arrgh! While I'm happy for those of you eagerly awaiting the event to start, the concurrent appearance of BeB means that my potential Bicentennial fails have now multiplied!
I guess I might have to stop saving for the island themes and start spending gems...
On the other hand, NEW STUFF!

Now I know that there are still several pedestals that I don't have. Being able to keep better track ot this will help me a lot.
This was one of the items on my wish list!
And now, oh wizards, please give me a filter or collection or something that shows which dragons are out on display. And honestly, though the egg pedestal checklist is awesome and appreciated, would it be so difficult to show the egg as one of the frames in each dragon's Age series?

My Elf Dragons (still operating under cover) are trying their best to coax Skitch's Dragons to get that Bicentennial before BEB starts and whatever the Wizards have in their sleigh.
Oh, please... make it so!

This is a very cool idea and I feel quite honored to receive a gem shower. However, as I posted over on the main thread, I'm saving my gems for the island theme bundle and have been resisting the urge to speed my breedings. I hope this isn't counter to the spirit of the gem shower. I am trying for Bicentennial in both breeding sites though and hope that's enough to get one before BeB (wherein I want to concentrate on Berry, my other big miss).
Thank you All!

We have activated a gem shower for ceme, Greger and Skitch. Come on guys and girls and get behind them they can get their dream bicentennial before it becomes a distant nightmare.
See, this is what I'm talking about! None of the other gaming communities I frequent would do this sort of thing!
But while I'm thrilled to receive a gem shower, I don't want to have one under false pretenses. I have been saving my gems for the island theme bundle and have not been spending them for the purpose of speeding up my breedings. I hope that's OK?

I've been a member of this community for about 5 months now, and I must say this is perhaps the most supportive and welcoming forum of its kind that I've found. Gaming communities as a general rule are filled with passionate and competitive people and they can tend to get... combative. You folks have created an atmosphere of fun and congeniality that still has room for competition and sportsmanship.
I love this game, and I have played since it was first released, but my passion for it has waned some over the last year as Backflip has moved toward a more aggressive profit model (though I obviously understand and support their need to make this a profitable enterprise and have thrown money their way many times over the years). The difficulty I've had in getting the Bicentennial dragon hasn't helped in this regard, but a number of you, in particular ceme and the wapatango clan, have been sending me consolation gems as I keep plodding along. What kind of competition-hardened gaming veterans do that sort of thing? Well, the DragonVale Community kind obviously! And I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks for that!

Well, I'm finding it hard not to get discouraged. I've been breeding for Bicentennial exclusively in both breeding sites since Gourd left with nary a glimpse... I've been ignoring Lodestone completely! You know how hard it is not to try for a new dragon when it's just sitting there all grey-like in your non-sparkly Dragonarium?!? All I want for Christmas is my two lost dragons! (Well, and Berry too, but he'll have to wait for BeB)

Happy Birthday freitag! I'd send you a birthday gem except you wouldn't be able to distinguish it from the daily one I send!
