In addition to the futile breeding for my second Bicentennial my primary activity in DV is the mindless gathering of GC. I'm starting to feel like a Wall Street hedge fund manager but, unlike them, I can't spend my wealth on helicopters, Andy Warhols, houses in the Hamptons and Republicans. I'm wondering what the use is of this pile of GC? I'm not sure there's room in my iPad for another island. Buying treats and leveling all dragons to 20 seems out of reach. And sums spent on decorations is insignificant - like a Wall Street Master of the Universe shopping at Walmart.
What do you do with your GC?
Poppy
I toss mine on the pile in the treasure habitat so Smaug can further encrust his belly.

Patience, it seems I always get my 1st, then the egg almost right away but that second one keeps me hanging. Still looking for the second Berry. Don't thing your berries are out of season already do you? I hope not! Koala to all
Still using Ember and Water
I'm usually pretty patient too, but I just love Berry. LOVE. BERRY. He's so bouncy and looks like he's enjoying life and I just adore it. So I want another. And I had pretty rotten luck with Sprout, getting my first and second pretty late into the time it was leaving.
Sprout was my nemesis dragon. Only managed to get a single one during its first availability period despite breeding furiously the whole time in both sites with high-level dragons. I finally got a second breeding Sprout and Spring (theorizing that the alliteration couldn't hurt). The cloned egg came pretty quickly after that, but I still shudder thinking about the number of epic fails I got during that fiasco...

Fun fact: "United States" in Spanish is "Estados Unidos". In Mexico, some folks are put off by the tendency of citizens of the United States calling themselves "Americans" (because isn't Mexico part of North America?). So in Mexico, an "American of the United States" is called an "Estadounidense", or Unitedstatesian.
I know. I am Texan and took Spanish growing up.
But... NO ONE says UnitedStatesian here, in Texas or in America in general (I also spent 14 years in Washington--the state, not D.C.). Nor do I hear anyone referring to themselves by the continent they live on. So the word just jumps out as In Your Face.
BTW. The offical name of Mexico? "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" Or United Mexican States. So they could just as much be referring to themselves. We call them... Mexicans.
Officially, Brazil is Federative Republic of Brazil -- or Brasilians (And they were once the United States of Brazil)
Officially Cuba is Republic of Cuba (And thus, Cubans)
See a pattern developing?
Then, of course, we could discuss the historic merits of "American" versus your word... Ours goes back to the Federalist papers when our country was first formed. Perhaps we should have been given a different name from the very beginning. But that argument is 200 years too old at this point. "American" fits the way people are generally termed with a compound name for their nation name. (And "United States" is not unique to us either).
What would a Canadian say if a citizen of the US of A would call them a "Fellow American"? Would they take it as talking about an inhabitant of the same continent, or trying to overtake their citizenship for that of this country instead?
...or, I could just be having a little fun.
(In other words, lighten up)

Well, there are a number of berries associated with the fall: elderberries and autumnberries for example. And in particular, cranberries are strongly associated with harvest festivals like Thanksgiving for the Canadians and Unitedstatesians among us.
Really?
Sure, why not?

A "0" went lost unfortunately, price is 150,000,000 which is quite an amount of DC.
AJ was stating how much DC the new Dream habitat could hold: 1.5M.
But yes, this new large habitat is incredibly expensive, at 150M to purchase. I wonder if it's a bug, and ought to be sold for 15M or 50M. At 150M, it's the most expensive habby by a long shot.
We've seen them adjust prices in the past... think I'll give it a few days just to be sure.

Well, I received a response from Kyle from my initial email to BFS the day of the glitch:
Hi,
Thanks for your email and patience.
We are aware of an issue where some users are missing candy and the event ended early for some players. We have addressed this by sending a gift to the users affected.
Please force close your game and reload DragonVale. If you've lost candy due to this issue, you will be given the next reward or the event decoration depending on the participation and candy contributed. Users will also be provided a few gems and some treats for the inconvenience.
We truly apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused and if you need further assistance please reply and we'll be happy to help.
Best Regards, Kyle
Here is my response:
Hi Kyle,
Thank you for your quick response. I read several DragonVale forums and am aware of how many people were affected by these issues and how swamped you must be with complaints.
Here's my problem. I did not receive any compensation. I presume this is because I received some treats and the cauldron and may not have actually lost any candies in the conversion. However, the event ended a day early for me. When I got the end-of-event notice and my event island disappeared, the timer in the Social/News tab still indicated over 23 hours remaining in the event. I visited my park several times that day and the candy bank reappeared sporadically and I was able to collect candies but unable to turn them in because the island and associated buttons never reappeared. I was planning my collection strategy around the timer in the Social/News tab and was trying to get within striking distance of my second Spooky theme with the intent of purchasing enough candies to buy it if I could get below the next purchase level.
Since the event ended a day early I was unable to collect as many candies as I had planned and was ultimately unable to purchase the second Spooky theme. Meanwhile, a large number of users in the forums reported that the event did not end early for them and that they still received a compensation package including candies converted to treats, the next reward level, and 100 gems (!), even if they were too far away from the next reward assuming the event ended as planned. This hardly seems right or fair.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you can help me!
I'll report the results when/if I receive any!

I have emailed BFS to ask how they determined treats. On my main account I received 3+ million for my 580-600 candies + the Cauldron when the game ended a day early. That is all I received. For my small account that had 553 candies lost + 200 more collected after the glitch, I received only 1.4+ million treats + the other gifts. Many have said they received the 3.5 for no lost treats, so I'm a little upset over all my wasted effort, especially over an extremely difficult last week in real life. I didn't want the second spooky theme, I wanted the treats I had earned. I'll let people know what response I get from BFS.
I think it has to do with your level. I have access to four parks. While I didn't track the treat reward very closely, I did notice that the two L60 parks got about 3.5M treats while the L50 got around 2.5M, and the L26 less than a millIon.
As for the glitch, it looks like the early out people did not get any compensation, while all the people left in did. Whether they deserved to or not. To me that is saying the event was planned to end when the early adopters lost their event island. But that disagrees with their posted messages. It it happened to me I would be pissed too. Hopefully BFS are looking into this and will fix something up for them.
This was my conclusion as well. Since I was planning my approach based on the advertised end-of-event posted in the news tab then I was definitely impacted, just not in a way that prevented delivery of the treats and cauldron. The adjustment criteria they settled on doesn't compensate those in my position, which doesn't seem right or fair.

Hmm, well I guess BFS decided I wasn't affected by the glitch since I didn't receive any adjustment. However, the event ended a day early for me, denying me a chance to increase my treat reward. Furthermore, I was able to sporadically collect candies a few times during the final day but couldn't turn them in since the candy counter came back but the island and associated buttons did not.
I had been contemplating buying a second spooky theme if I got within striking distance the last day.
Not a very happy valer right now.

Paid Arkynos and GregDarcy. Hmm, yes, I think that is the end in sight... How exciting! Still, shouldn't I create an IOU list anyway? Isn't that how these things are done. Have to ponder this another day or two...

Hello everyone, I got a response back with the following:
"Our engineers are looking into a way to address this better, but right now everyone missing candy will need to email us and we will credit what they need. Our emails are out the roof as everyone was affected, but we will get to everyone as fast as we can."
You can email Backflip Studios at support@backflipstudios.com
Include your Game Center or Facebook ID in your email with the amount of candy you think you are missing.
They said it will take time to respond to everyone, but they will be sure everyone gets what they are missing or should have had.
Dear BFS,
To the best of my recollection, I had about 153,790 candies. Please convert this into a gazillion dragon treats.
Whoops, I am able to collect candies despite having maxed out all categories except colosseum earlier. I'm collecting at single rates and not double rates so they got the end-of-double timer correct. But I seem to have gotten an extra candy reset.
Wait. I'm still collecting candies, even though the event island is gone... Anyone else?
Can't test this at the moment. I used Kairos early this morning after candy reset and managed to get all collection categories except the Colosseum. Guess I'll find out tonight when it finishes!

It just ended. There were 24 hours left on the timer, right? It's not just me?
By the way, I got 1,834,964 treats from 347 candies at level 60.
Not just you. The event ended for me, I got 3.8M treats. 24 hours left on the timer.
Bad form Backflip. Not an issue for me because I got my Spooky theme, but some folks probably were monitoring their candy collection based on the timer and may actually miss the theme as a result.
