Now that Hieroglyph is no longer available, has anyone who managed to breed one or two of them been able to determine if we have like+like cloning or epic cloning for limiteds? I know BFS have said that Hiero can't be bred outside the availability period, but I haven't seen if they've clarified whether that's for first-time breeding or whether cloning works in DVW as it does in DV. I've been casually breeding my 2 Hieros with no successful clones as of yet.

My Dragonarium finally sparkled again for for the first time in over a year... for literally 3 minutes! I bought the last event dragon just before reset and smiled at my fire-breathing, sparkly Dragonarium, only to watch in horror as the Smolder and Soot dragons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!

Well done in that case. It's a beauty. Though I've only seen the baby form - it might grow up to be a Gamma for all I know.
I wonder if its release is also a bat signal for the contest winners that they can finally spill the beans? N/A 's post seems to indicate as much.
Also! It replaces the Dream Dragon as the highest earning dream-type dragon! Meaning I have some 60-odd Dreams to replace.
thanks everyone for the patience. you guessed it correctly lovejoanne !! So...the advent calendar countdown was for the first ever, fan-designed dragon being incorporated into the game! Of course it could not have been possible without the amazingly talented designer Olivia and the rest of the art designers, Mash for creating and orchestrating the Fan Faire, and the rest of the team from BFS, but this is a huge day for the Fan Faire winners. Note: while you can only get one portent decoration, the animation of it opening up is worth it now, AND on select, special (predetermined but undisclosed) days, the decoration will have another, "hidden" animation. Exciting huh?
Also, the upgrade to the hibernation cave has been a long time coming, so we're all happy about that.
Looking at the definition of portent, the surprises are not over yet!! That's right, this is NOT the "dark dragon hint" I dropped a while back. There is still one more secret that I cannot share yet, but it will be in the game relatively soon. That will be bigger than this. But I'm so happy to see Portent come to life. It's been a long journey from our heads, to the drawing board, to the emails, to today!
Any questions?
Haha, I totally forgot that sbf helped design a dragon! That made my assumption that he wouldn't be so excited for just a new dragon incorrect from the get go! Oh well, I had fun time out in the deep weeds!

Time to start teasing other aspects of this thing, sbf, I'm just sayin'!
To recap: I'm still predicting (haha) that we're getting a fortune-telling power, either as a new Legendary or in a new mechanic (like maybe a witch taking up residence in the park and living in a fortune-teller's tent). Since the only predictive / fortune-telling thing that seems to make sense is breed-prediction, I'm sticking with that. I'm still hoping that we can use this new power to affect outcomes as well. One way that might work is for us to propose a breeding pair to the new fortune-telling witch or legendary dragon, and she would tell us what the result of that breeding would be. Changing the outcome would work by cancelling that breeding and offering a new pair until we get an outcome we like. At this point, the proposed breeding is started and the power must be recharged a few days before it can be used again.
Edit: more thoughts - If you don't have enough appropriate dragons to propose a different breeding pair, it would also work to leave the tent (or whatever) for a little while and propose the same pair at a later time (maybe you have to wait an hour or so before the outcome would change for a particular pair). You can make as many proposals as you like without exhausting the fortune-teller until you actually commit to a breeding, after which time you must wait for the power to recharge.

I wonder if it's up to Apple or to BFS to make it work? Is the solution "be FB or be Friendless"?
ugh
Although it's not unheard of for Apple to have system-breaking bugs, I suspect that in this situation it's more a question of BFS getting their ducks in a row. If they choose to continue to fully support the new way Apple wants Game Center to work there will still be ways to find friends anonymously, but possibly at the expense of creating anonymous gaming accounts in gmail or something like that. My feeling is GCID will still play a role, but I haven't researched Apple's APIs thoroughly yet, so it's unclear to me how that might work.
The ideal solution in terms of player-friendly experience and BFS control would be for BFS to create their own account system independent of the idiosyncrasies of Game Center, and Facebook, and Google Play, and track friendship themselves. This would allow all users to see all parks and all potential friends independently of their individual choice of platform and service, but this is an expensive and long-term proposition that BFS would have to have been working on already for it to arrive anytime soon.
Hopefully in a few months time this will all just be an unpleasant blip in our rearview mirror.

Fortune-telling power still lookin good... Breed prediction seems the most likely, but not particularly useful if we can't do anything about it. More often than not we know the breed immediately due to the breed time, so I'm still guessing we can do something about it. Maybe the power allows us to cancel a proposed breeding and choose different pairs (or the same pair again) until we get a result we like.
This sounds like the best guess so far. Remember, not every DV player uses the Sandbox (sacre bleu!), and even for us, some kind of immediate feedback would keep us from having to exit out of the game for research.
That's true, even simple prediction would be useful, I forget how comfortable and familiar we long-term players are with the resources we have. Another benefit is positive feedback you got the breeding you wanted if two possible outcomes have the same breed time.

It has been the policy of this forum to keep the number of threads down to a minimum. Since we have existing threads for Gem exchange for Apple and Android, we encourage members to connect there. Since the friending portion of the game is still in flux I think it would be best to wait until Back Flip finalizes their new cross platform friend/sharing before we do a combination thread which outlines the new rules.
Thanks for the consideration. I guess the players who used GCID to connect can PM each other here for email or other means of connection.
I'll admit, I don't understand what SMS means. What does it want for an address, can anyone enlighten?
SMS stands for Short Message Service and is the underlying technology for phone texting. So basically it just means send a text. Apple's iMessage is internet enhanced texting.

I'm cross-posting this here and in the co-op cave thread for more exposure.
Here is Apple's position on Game Center under iOS 10:
With the release of iOS 10, Apple's Game Center service no longer has its own dedicated application. Instead, actions like adding friends or inviting them to a game are handled by individual games themselves, routed through Apple's expanded Messages app.
With iOS 10 now available, games on the App Store have access to new tools for inviting friends to multiplayer games via the Messages app.
Titles that already use existing Game Center invitation APIs don't need to make any code changes for iOS 10. Messages-based invites are set to automatically replace the old method of inviting friends to play, and anyone can be invited via the Messages app and iCloud.
For example, a player sending an invite to play the popular title "Doodle Jump" will provide a "rich link" attachment in an iMessage to another iPhone user, with the option to add additional text to the message.
Invitations can be sent to players saved in a user's contacts, recent players who were seen online, or nearby players on a local network playing the same title. Players with legacy Game Center accounts will also receive notifications from Messages-based invites.
For users on iOS 10, once a Game Center invitation has been received in Messages, tapping on a rich link will take the user directly into the game. If they do not have that particular title installed, the link will instead open the game's listing on the iOS App Store.
It's unclear how GCID fits into this. In my tests with the "invite friend" button in DV, the invitation is just sent via the selected method, without any "rich links", and NOT through the Messages app. This may mean that BFS is not yet using GC's invitation APIs (or not doing so correctly). So it's not that Apple has gotten rid of the capability, just that it's not working correctly yet.

The clues will get more difficult, before they get easier.
I guess I should point out that Emma Roberts is playing a fortune teller in this role, and also wearing green...
GREENSEER CONFIRMED!!
ETA: ...and more evidence for my theory we're getting a new Legendary with future/past peeking/modifying skillz
ETA2: I forgot to add, it occurred to me last night that we might be getting an alternative kind of new feature. What I've got in mind is that it's not a new Legendary dragon but rather something different: maybe named witches and wizards can take up residence in our parks and we'll be able to interact with them. In this case, perhaps a new fortune-telling witch that can predict or alter a breeding outcome if we pay her with resources... still working out the mechanics in my mind.

The three eyed raven from A Song of Ice and Fire (actually a three eyed crow in the books) is the last of the greenseers. Legend has it that the greenseers can see everything that the ancient weirwoods of Westeros have seen or will see and that they wield some kind of power over the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky. Bran Stark, one of the main characters, has dreams of the green in which he sees visions of what has happened and what may happen. Jojen Reed, another "green dreamer" traveling with Bran, tells him that greenseers were actually something more, "wargs" he called them, and that "the greatest of them could wear the skins of any beast that flies or swims or crawls, and could look through the eyes of the weirwoods as well, and see the truth that lies beneath the world".
In the books, as Bran dreams it is strongly hinted that when he has visions of the past he can actually affect the past. In the Game of Thrones TV series (which has now surpassed the books in some storylines) we see that this is true and Bran affects the past of his other traveling companion, Hodor, changing him when he was a young man.
SBF is entirely too excited about the new surprise for it to be simply a new dragon, or a new dragon class, or decoration, or something else so uninteresting, so I'm betting it's a completely new feature or capability. The "infinity" sign appears on the Perch of Kairos, so I'm guessing we're going to get a new Legendary (even though Gaia isn't that old yet). The new power will be "greenseer-like" in that we can see into the future of a breeding or maybe reach into the past of a breeding to change it, possibly turning a "fail" into a "success".
Or maybe it's something else entirely!

Whew, with the arrival this morning of a Quicksand, my Dragonarium sparkles once more! Finally! This can only mean that whatever is "coming" will arrive before I can catch up on all the tasks I've been putting off. Although I do sympathize with those of you who are bored and ready for more challenges, I'd sure appreciate a bit of breathing room so I can finish my second breedings, my pedestals, and at least a few new twins...

It would be wonderful if Backflip would count all trees as one storage bin, instead of every type taking up its own spot.
Or better yet, just remove the storage limit entirely. There's really no reason for it other than the slight gem investment to get the upgrades (and they're cheap enough that they probably don't really result in much real income to BFS from gem purchases). I'd gladly invest a few hundred gems more for an unlimited top storage tier (and for the hibernation cave too). From a programming perspective, an inventory list doesn't consume more resources than a few bytes per entry (resources are really only impacted when an item is taken out of inventory and has to be rendered in the park). On the other hand, the problems in the social tab whenever your gift list gets large sort of indicates that BFS may just be really bad at coding lists :/

Robert Browning said "a man's reach should exceed his grasp". I've always felt this is a great way to live a life of achievement. However, it's not really a great way to develop games. Though it pains me to say so since I love Dragonvale and have played every day without fail since it was first released, Backflip's reach exceeds their grasp more often than any other game developer whose games I play. We see evidence of this in the fact that almost every event has a major glitch, and of all the games I play (there are many) it's literally the only one where I wrestle with whether or not I should update to the newest version.
These latest changes to multiple-park organization across devices and across social services is confusing at best and game-breaking at worst. Park switching is a neat idea in concept but their execution is just clumsy and infuriating. The relationship between FB parks and GC parks and local parks and iOS parks and Android parks is not at all clear even to we DV veterans who have this great community to lean on to figure things out. Imagine if you are trying to figure out what's going on all on your own. The new device-based gifting limitation is a horrible idea; I know several families that play on a shared iPad because the large screen is so much easier to play on, but now whoever signs into their park later in the day can no longer gift as many gems if other family members have gifted from their own parks earlier.
I love Backflip's creativity and their unique sense of fun, but I continue to doubt that they have the development chops to achieve their creative vision. I don't see myself quitting DV anytime soon, and I plan to wait (somewhat) patiently until they get around to fixing the problems. Again. But I do tire of having my enthusiasm for the game take a hit with every new version.

Amazing news! Now you can login into your park across multiple devices! - To login between supported Android, Apple, or Amazon devices, connect your park to Facebook. - To login between supported Apple devices, connect your park to Game Center.
You asked, so the wizards and witches magicked it up: finally, an easier way to redecorate your park! Now that it’s better than ever to go on a decorating spree, what amazing new island art will you create?
Edit: Looks like they've solved mitigated the GC issue. Login/Logout from both Facebook and GC are possible directly within the social menu [see below, not as nice as I'd hoped]. There's also a button to invite friends. Invitation is via FB, email, or SMS (so possibly no longer by GCID?). Anonymous invitation might be accomplished via a "game-only" email address[blech, see below] (and the language about multiple devices makes me wonder if Android and iOS players can now see one another). All of my friends are displaying the default Nogard avatar now (previously I was getting a mix of Nogard, custom avatar, and completely missing). Looks like you can also name your park in the Options menu (and naming your park is a Goal!). Long-pressing a decoration shows a little "selection timer" that enters move mode when it completes. The Options menu has a "Switch Parks" button where you can apparently create and load alternate parks. Still investigating changes...
Well, my first test of "Invite Friends" is a little underwhelming. I sent an invitation to one of my gaming emails and it basically just provides links to the app stores, there is nothing in the email allowing the recipient to connect to the inviter's park... Still not seeing how new friends can be established without a real FB login.
Ugh, bad news: the GC bug is still present (though it behaves differently). When I closed and re-opened the game, It loaded successfully, but I noticed I didn't see a GC banner. When I checked my friends, they were all gone and my Social menu was now showing "Login" for GC instead of "Logout". When I pressed "Login" DV simply presented a dialog that said "Go to Settings or your Game Center app to login". Exiting DV and running the GC app (I'm still on iOS 9) just presented the "white screen of death" and I had to reboot my iPad to reconnect GC. The only good news in all of that was that at least DV runs now when GC is broken instead of just hanging on the load screen.

I will have to update this week. I have a new phone coming and I'm sure it is going to force a update when uploading data to a new phone.
Provided Apple still supports an earlier iOS, like 9.3.1 or whatever, I think you can downgrade the iOS 10; but a short window maybe...someone made a similar comment in this thread a couple of days ago; do a free Apple chat online maybe and serve 2 functions at once...also let them know that dropping GC functionality is not a fave....just my thoughts fwtw
Indeed there is a window during which you can downgrade an iOS device to a previous version. During the iOS install process, an iOS device contacts a special server called the signing server (sometimes called the signature server) so that Apple can validate the version of iOS being installed. In order to "aggressively encourage" iOS users to update, Apple continues to "sign" only one or two previous versions of iOS for a time. If you are still running very old hardware, the good news is that Apple will validate the most up-to-date version of iOS that your device will support. In other words, if you have an old iPhone that can't run the latest iOS, you can at least upgrade to the newest version that it can run (although eventually Apple does stop signing very old versions, usually when the install base drops below a certain point or there are critical security flaws).
If you are a knowledgable (and adventurous, and maybe slightly rebellious) user, then you can "jailbreak" your phone and install whatever version of iOS you can get ahold of (there are online archives that retain installable versions of every iOS released). Note that jailbreaking is not legal everywhere, and Apple maintains that it will void your warranty, although this assertion has not been tested in any jurisdiction I'm aware of. If you want to play around with jailbreaking, do a little research first to ensure you won't violate local laws or otherwise lose your warranty rights.
